I've been here for a few months now. Nearly half a year, even. And in that time, I've noticed that there's a ton of different worlds represented here, and most of them have different forms of magic. I'm a mage myself, so I find it pretty interesting.

So, I'd like to hear about all the forms of magic represented here. Especially if it's possible for you to teach it, or at least the basic principles and rules behind it. I'm trying to research if principles from one form can be applied to other forms from other worlds. Maybe combining magics from other worlds that aren't supposed to interact could be our way out of here.

[She levitates her staff from the wall to her hand, where it promptly vanishes- No point in discussing all of this magic without a demonstration, right?]

On a different note, I'm still working on a guide for new arrivals here. If anyone is willing to help give information that isn't contained in the guide I have, it would be a big help. Thanks.

It's a type of magic granted...at birth.

[ Birth is so not a good word for the unnatural creation of the Intoners, but it'll do for this conversation. ]

Normal humans can't handle that sort of power without going mad, or worse.

... I see. Meaning ones who can use that magic are 'abnormal' humans?

[She doesn't like hearing about that, but... Well, she's heard about how weird other worlds are.]

How does that work? Is it like poisonous mana or something?

I'm not sure that "human" is even a term that would apply.

[ Well. It's not. ]

It's something that, for whatever reason, they can't handle at all.

I see. Can I ask how much you know about it, then?

[She's only spoken about magic from her world, and given no signs that she has magic herself, so Nightingale doesn't want to make assumptions. Especially since she looks human enough.]

Unfortunately, its origin is unclear, so I'm not certain if there's much more I can tell you.

Not even how it's used, or what rules control it?

It's used through song. Because of this, people came to call them "Intoners."

"Intoners", huh... Weird name.

We have bards who use magic songs where I'm from, but it doesn't sound like quite the same thing.

And your friend's scope was limited. It has more to do with being so studious that you're lame and boring.

It's less 'assuming the worst' and more 'basic pattern recognition'.

And the studying itself isn't bad. It's bad when it's all you can talk about and you bum out everyone around you.

And I can pick up on patterns fast.

You might have noticed before it's not all I talk about. Besides, I'm a mage. Studying directly translates to being more efficient in summoning the elements from my will alone.

No problem. That's the goal, after all. Being new in this place sucks, so the new ones need all the help they can get.

Mm, it really does...being on the Marsiva, especially when you have friends on the other ships and can't get off to see them — it's really a struggle to deal with!

Yeah. And no team to help you get adjusted. You're just sort of at the mercy of whoever decides to reply, or not. I figure if my guide gets spread around enough, people can start sending it to the new people as they show up. Give everyone some starting ground to work with, keep things grounded.

I think it does that very well! I learned a lot, and I'm not even on the big ship anymore.
