Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes home sucks. [She's not going to pry. There's a lot of people who'd prefer to stay here; she's just not one of them.]

[ He offers a grunt in reply, nodding his head. Nami you have met the king of many words.

Silence falls, but his gaze flicks back to her after making a sweep of the area.]

Have you been here long?

[Yeahhh she knows the type. So she chatters more to fill in the silence.] Three and a half months now. I ran out of things to do a while back, so now I'm just trying to learn a whole new way of charting stars.

[And failing. It's so difficult once you stop working in two dimensions.]

Is there more than one way?

[ Navigation isn't really his thing- especially when it comes to stars, so he has no idea. ]

Ah-- yeah. I'm a cartographer back home. [She slows to face him a little more, though her steps are still meandering closer to engineering.] But we're still in an age back home where we travel the ocean with ships, there's none of this space stuff. The star charts we have back home are just a study of what you can see from the ground. You can plot courses by them, that kind of thing.

Up here, though, the stars aren't just above you, they're all around you, and I've got no fixed point of reference. But I like making maps and I'm bored, so... I'm trying to work out how to translate those charts from one dimension to another. It's just a little ahead of my time.
