[Today there's a blue fish lady onscreen. She ROARS and slams a conjured lance through the nearest table, splitting it in half. Poor hospitality deck, it never asked for this. She grabs the spear and looks at the console with a discerning yellow eye. The other eye is covered by an eyepatch and a bit of red hair.]

No one captures me. Not unless they have a DEATH WISH!

[She brandishes her spear with a twirl and shoves it solidly into the floor. Her grin shows jagged sharky teeth, and it nearly splits her face in half. Is she making you uneasy? Good.]

It's been a while since I had a real fight. Come out of hiding, cowards! I'll show you why I was made captain of the Royal Guard!

[A captain in... a muscle tank and skinny jeans, sure. Whatever.]

Ohhh. [She nods, eyes wide.] Okay, got it, got it! That sounds a lot better than I thought, I guess.

[She grins now.] But nope. No kings. If that's what they're supposed to do though... It sounds a liiiittle like the Cardinal Guards back home. [A beat.] A little.

I got here just after the last one, so I didn't see it myself. But I've been in plenty back home.

[ ...and that's what Haruka gets for jumping to conclusions. Still not an issue here, though. A shrug. ] Around.

[ Her ears go flat, and her tail puffs with obvious offence. ]

[ Though she breathes sharply. This woman is obviously not insulting her, with such reference to home. ]

I am a Miqo'te. Pray tell, was that intended as an insult to my honour, or is it merely the name of your kind?

[ He looks slightly confused. ]

Nothing in the kitchen is supposed to taste like snails, as far as I'm aware. But apparently the texture isn't to some people's liking.

[ He just kind of rolls his eyes. ]

Making it look cool is beyond Atroma's powers, I guess. But as long as you don't try to remove it, you can probably touch it fine.

[Undyne is somewhat confused by the reaction. Monster isn't a bad word.]

Uh, no, it... it just means you aren't a human. You know, the pink fleshy guys who look weak yet are somehow good at everything?

[She is so tired of snails. It's not even like she understood how tired she was of snails until she got to the surface and had real spaghetti.]

Monster food ain't that great. If humans can eat it, it's fine.

Wait. Were you thinking we were gonna invade? [She laughs.] Not interested.

Yep! To be fair though, I've only seen the surface for, uh, a few weeks tops? I got to the beach and got a little... [A pause.] ... sidetracked.

[She rests her chin in her hands, peering at the camera expectantly.]

[ YEAH........shut up. ]

[She shrugs.] Um. One of the Cardinals does. He's... in charge of the church.

[A pause.] Wait, wait, hold on. No! You can do that? You could actually invade somewhere? If you wanted! I-I get that you don't!

[She's a little sheltered, okay

[ This smile is not thinking about the water. Haruka indulges for a moment longer before changing the subject. ] Sounds like there's a shortage on this planet, though.

[Ahsoka shrugs and makes a little "Iunno" sound.]

[ Her tail thrashes. ]

Of my home, 'monster' falls well within 'beast' and 'animal' as an insult to my kind. But if you mean naught of it, for it is your home's name for those who are blue, we need not duel for my honour.

Snails are monster food? Humans eat snails too. [ And give it fancy names and cook it to not taste like snails at all, because humans are weird ]

I'd never call someone who could obviously walk and talk an animal. There's lots of different kinds of monsters, too. Some look a little like animals, some are-- well, skeletons, or fireballs wearing suits-- but it just means people who aren't human. It's not an insult. It's my PEOPLE. [A pause, and then she grins.] But if you wanted to duel, I wouldn't say no. I don't want to get rusty!

Undyne. Nice to meet'cha. Is Magpie a title?

Really? I haven't seen that yet. Snails are basically all we have in the Underground, so...

[That makes her laugh.] Fuhuhu!! I wish! My name's Undyne. If I could go by a title, I'd pick something like... the UNDYING. And then I'd smash anyone who tried to prove me wrong!

[Elecman isn't even a weird name. Consider: that hotman kid.]

[He snaps the book shut.]

[She blinks, and then laughs.]

Oh my god. You really are a nerd. [It's said without any trace of maliciousness, at least...] I have a friend who'd be really into that stuff... Too bad she's not here.

You got any human history books? Or, uh... wait. Do humans usually have glowing eyes?

Yeah, some humans eat them. I don't know why, when they have other things to eat, but it's not like I need to eat. [ He shrugs. ] Maybe it's something I'm missing.

So if you had a full title, it'd be 'Undyne the Undying'? Sounds pretty catchy.

[ He likes the way the name sounds. As a navi, names are shorthand for identification, strings of data that provide context and understanding of what the being standing in front of them is. As a physical being - he doesn't have that innate sense, and he pays attention to sounds more. ]

Did you live in a cave or something? [ The Underground? Sounds like a video game level..or a train system. ]

It was a name given to me when I had none, by those whom I love as family. Now it is that I use both.

[ She runs her hand through her hair, settling down the bristling puff. ]

I would duel you, though first we need meet, and I will give you time to become accustomed to this strange fleet. More than that, I fear your weapon is likely stolen, as my own was.

[ A beat, before academic curiosity wins out over further introductions. ]

... How does a fireball wear a suit?

There are some human histories lying around. Not any humans I've ever heard of, though.

[He quirks an eyebrow.]

And no. They don't have long ears, either.

[ He definitely signed up for nothing. ]

I don't think I would make a good leader.

[ Not like the current Captain- not like Jim. ]

I take it you're the leader type?

[Her expression softens at the edges. She's reminded a bit of someone she cares about.] No one thinks they'd be a good leader. Not the kind of people you want in charge, anyway.

But yeah! I wouldn't want to lead a whole country or anything. Being a captain just kind of... happened? I joined up because I wanted to fight the bad guys. Next thing I know, I'm training recruits!
