Action – Planetside Mask Shopping
He likes the slightly overdone aesthetic of the masks, even if they look like they couldn’t possibly compare to what his own does for him. Mantis can be heard chatting quietly behind a screen in the store, discussing things like how old the scars are and what he hopes to find in the mist. Other shop assistants glance by now and then at some of the snippets of conversation, but Mantis emerges at last with his usual mask in place.
He sits at a different counter in the shop as numbers are crunched and picks up a sample mask to turn over in his hands as a box is made up for him. It’s not something one buys every day, hence why Mantis takes the box with his new mask in it with all the care in the world. You’ll find him passing by the other patrons of the store or wandering around with his new purchase safely tucked under his arm. He keeps glancing down at it as thought it might not be there the next time he looks and will occasionally pause as he’s walking to open the top of the box and peer inside.
Broadcast – Bishop
The office is looking a bit more like a hobby room these days. Various attempts at embroidery are tacked up to the wall along with a few pages of what some might recognize as sheet music. He’s even found a framed picture of a landscape scene showing a forested area to make the place seem more alive.
More importantly, Mantis has his head down on the desk and is hiding some of the lower half of his face behind crossed arms. Intense, pale grey eyes stare at the communicator, more at the little image reflecting what the camera sees than anything else. Astute observers will note that the bridge of his nose seems to end rather abruptly, especially as he sighs and lowers his head even more.
“I hate looking at my face. I bet some of you didn’t even know I had one.” There’s the slightest shift in one side of his face as he nearly smiles. “I got a new mask. The mist apparently has treasures one can find if they wander deeply enough and avoid the madness. If all goes well, I will have things to report about what lies below. I currently plan to go alone, but there has to be at least one other madman who has been considering it.”
