Who: Leia Organa & you (yes, you)
Action: The Marsiva. Up, down, and all around.
When: December 28th
[To suggest Leia is annoyed with her presence on the Marsiva is to commit gross understatement. After years of struggle, the Rebel Alliance has fatally crippled the Empire, and the Republic of old is within their grasp--and here she is, trapped in an enormous holo-serial untold light years away.
She could scream. She really could.
Her first thought, once she's aware of the communications network, is to seek information that way. Without more knowledge of this place and the 'Atroma' keeping them captive, however, it seems unwise to call quite that much attention to her initial inquiries if she can help it. Atroma (the Atroma?) is supposedly recording their every move, but she's not about to make it any easier for it (them?) to sort through hours of footage to find the interesting bits. Irritation is no excuse for carelessness.
So she swallows back her frustration for the moment and talks to the people she meets on deck. Smalltalk--how are you, have you been here long, so on and so forth. And sprinkled in occasionally, the big question:]
What do you think of the Fleet?

Well, compared to the fleets of my home world? It's nice that it exists. Kinda lacking firepower and autonomy, but considering we don't have a legion of enemies on our ass, the firepower thing is ... only mildly disappointing.
I'm not really a Fleet kinda guy myself; I prefer the independent contractor sort of lifestyle, personally.

[Hey, if Hutts have a place, however odious, in the universe, so do teal robot-unicorn people.
And why should Lando Calrissian be the only one with a cape?]And what do you normally contract to do?
[First guess: smuggling. Blame the company she keeps.]

The Awoken, though? Well, they had something pretty impressive, but unfortunately it was no match for the God that came trolling through our system. [But Cayde's never one for ending on a sour note.]
Oh, you know, whatever's fun and will net me a good amount of Glimmer. Scavaging, mostly, intel, scouting ... whatever. You got something you need done?
no subject
[Space travel, however out of reach, is familiar, but Glimmer, Nihilists, Dead Orbit, the Awoken? She can guess at what they are--the world doesn't seem to changethat much between locations--but the specifics are lost on Leia.]
I don't have any jobs at the moment, but I'll call on you if that changes. Unless you can tell me a little more about this fleet, that is.

Awoken aren't a faction; they're a race. Kinda ... aloof, stubborn, got this whole blue glowy thing going on. They're pretty tough, though; living out on the edge of space. We got three factions at the Tower now; Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, and Future War Cult. Kind of beside the point, though ...
This fleet ... it's diverse, it's also kinda bullshit. I mean, they're really tight on the whole no-weapons thing, but on the other hand it's not like we got a lot of enemies. I been here about three months and I can't imagine one hour in my homeworld that was this uneventful. [He stops and thinks for a moment,] No, no, one minute; there was always something going on. What I can tell you is sit back, relax, get to know your crew ... sometimes things get interesting but they never really get like, weird.
Oh, and on an unrelated note ... you play poker?
video;
[They don't, but he prefers to be as ridiculous as possible towards newbies when he encounters them. And pretty much everyone, really.]

[Food hasn't exactly been foremost on her mind, especially once she got a look at the options.]
You're mostly concerned with creature comforts, I take it?
no subject
[This was true when Atroma first brought him here, though maybe not so much anymore. Regardless, he waves one hand at the camera, like it isn't important.]
Don't worry, everyone gets the puddings when they get assigned a ship. You'll see what I mean.
no subject
[All right, she's not laying as low as she originally intended. Sometimes it's hard not to call a spade a spade.]
I'll wait with bated breath. [Dryly.]

[He agrees with her, at least, on the principle of the thing. He might say he doesn't have the luxury or the energy for principles much, these days, but no one should ever listen to what he says, anyway.]
Still, speaking as a purveyor of various jail cells of all kinds, I can tell you that this is a very nice one. I've never gotten paid to be locked up before! Maybe if they'd done that at the last one it wouldn't have been such a pain in my arse.
[It absolutely still would have been.]
no subject
[Her voice is rather dry, but let's be real here, it's not like she's about to judge...depending on the reason. This isn't Leia's first time around, either.]
no subject
Unfortunately. Apostate, is the word, though they like to tack on "fugitive" to the start of it sometimes to make me sound more menacing. People like me aren't really allowed to not be locked up, and those of us that take issue with it, well. [He shrugs, smile bright.] Can't say I don't have an interesting story or twelve.
Video
Welllll I did always wanna go on a space vacation, but I wish they'd let us pick who could come from us and when we go on it.
no subject
That would be a marked improvement. Are you here alone?
no subject
It would, wouldn't it? But don't worry, I'm never alone! Pearl's here to keep an eye on me, and I'm made plenty of other neat friends too, like the people on my ship! We can be friends too if you want!
no subject
I...guess we can. [How do you talk to children again? Leia hasn't spent any meaningful time around boys this age since she was that age.] I'm Leia. What's your name?
no subject
['Leia'. She is starting to seem more and more like someone from a movie... but Steven knows it would be rude to say that, so he'll just contain his excitement.]
Nice to meet you, Leia! My name's Steve Universe. I come in peace!
no subject
So do I. [If "I come in peace" has cultural meaning beyond the literal words, she's not aware!] How long have you been here, Steven?
no subject
Um... It's been a few months for me!
no subject
That's quite a while. [Longer than she'd like to stay by...well, several months.] You must be pretty familiar with how things work. Do you think there's anything I should know about the Fleet?
no subject
[He chuckles, trying to hide his sadness at all the people he misses.]
It's definitely longer than most vacations! Hmmm... things you should know! Well, they say we're on tv? But we never get to watch anything. And sometimes, it gets really cramped just being in a ship all the time. But there's plenty of way stations and planets we visit so that's not too bad!
no subject
[Sorry, Steven, she assumed the Crystal Gems was a metaphorical name.
Most of it is information she's already learned, but the mention of way stations and planets is new and different.]
That must be a nice change of pace. What have the planets been like?
no subject
[He chuckles nervously.]
Um... Well the planets have been really super cool! There was a cowboy one, and now there's that one with the whole snowy deal going on! It's pretty cool if I do say so myself.

What parts do you find fascinating?

Being dropped here must have been a shock for you. That's a lot of technology to learn at once.

video;
Hmm... It's kind of mixed, I guess? I've been wanting to go to space my whole life, and I was even just about to before I got here, so it works out for me. I get to explore way farther than I ever thought I would, and I'm discovering new things about this universe every day!
[He'd been smiling, but he frowns as he considers the cons of all this.] But I didn't really count on being here thanks to being kidnapped for a reality TV show, you know? And I hate the fact that they pull people here who don't want to be here.
no subject
[It's difficult for her to imagine a world where interstellar flight is almost entirely non-existent--not simply pricy but out of reach for all but a tiny fraction of the population. Sorry, Clay.]
It seems like that happens quite a bit, kidnapping people who'd rather be where they were. They value their holo-serial over things that actually matter.
no subject
[And man, he wishes it was as easy as it looked in her world, where someone could just jump into a ship and go. That was the dream for him.]
Yeah... If a way ever comes up, I'd love to help everyone who wants to go back to where they came from back home again. All I can do right now is just reach out and be a friend to them.
no subject
[Being unable to leave one's planet seems depressing and parochial to her]
That's an admirable gesture on your part. [Leia has similar goals, though she does regard the potential of acquaintances with a slightly sharper eye.] I'm Leia Organa. It's a pleasure to meet you.
no subject
[His Earth still has a long way to go with that, but technology keeps getting improved and invented faster and faster, so maybe there's hope yet! And omgggg she said it's a pleasure, aaa]
Uh - I'm Clay Terran! It's - [A huge, huge honor - ] really nice to meet you, too!
video;
It's annoying, but not terrible.
[ It could be much worse. ]
It can be a little cramped, too, if you're not used to sharing your space with other people.
no subject
[Spend a few years working in various rebel cells--or a few days on the Millennium Falcon--and everyone ending up elbow-to-elbow doesn't seem so strange, but it seems like the ships have been a serious adjustment for others.]
Did you do much space travel before you were brought here?
no subject
Travelling anywhere off your own planet hasn't been invented yet where I was born. I ended up doing it anyways before arriving in the Fleet, though not really by choice.
Most of the people here are the same way. I guess in a way it's good we have the augments to tell us how to run these things, otherwise we'd be pretty screwed.
no subject
[Admittedly, she's picturing something less interdimensional than Ino likely experienced--a backwater planet visited by a ship from a more technologically advanced culture.]
From what I've heard so far, I wouldn't put it past them. So the augments have been helpful for you?
no subject
For someone who's walked everywhere the first twenty plus years of her life, it's kind of helpful to suddenly sort of know how to drive these things. I mean, I'm not a pilot, so I guess that's not my job, but most of this would be completely over my head otherwise.
[ Twenty plus, she says, but she doesn't look a day older than sixteen. ]
