[ han solo, on board the huntress, has had a tumultuous week. nothing in comparison to his friends (though, really, if his long-lost family showed up here, han probably wouldn't be able to recognize them, let alone marginally care), but tiring all the same. he's been collecting information from passerby and explored arslae quite a bit. now, he's ready to talk on the network.

of sorts, anyway.

han is sitting at his pilot station in the huntress, and there are some missing panels and things being rearranged and han setting up his chair just the way he likes it. there's no chewbacca here (annoyingly, and, if han admits it, depressingly), so han is doing the work on his own. with some interruptions.

after a moment or two of thinking, han decides to speak.

(if he were smart, he would've figured out what he wanted to say beforehand, but that shit isn't for corellian smugglers.) ]

So I guess I've been assigned to the Huntress, and I've met most of you on board so far... but greetings, salutations, whatever. I'm Han Solo, your new pilot. I'd apologize for the mess, but you'll thank me later.

[ probably. if he doesn't blow up the ship first. ]

I've got a few questions about this Fleet -- one, how many people around here have actually set foot off planet before coming here? Two, any of you know how to fly a ship before getting here? Second part -- who here is a pilot? And three, if any of you have seen a Wookiee by the name of Chewbacca -- he's tall, furry, growls a lot, might've threatened to kill you once or twice -- steer him in my direction. He's harmless. Mostly.

[ han seems to be ready to leave it there, but he glances toward his station before resettling his focus on the camera with a grin, eyes bright. to those who know han solo, esteemed general of the rebellion and captain of the millennium falcon, you can almost be guaranteed what is about to come out of his mouth is no good. ]

So who wants to test out how fast these buckets of bolts can go?

I haven't seen or heard of your friend, but as to your other questions: I live and work on a starship - an exploratory and diplomatic vessel to be exact -at home. And while I'm not a pilot per se, I do know how to fly.

[She gives him a curious smile.]

Why exactly do you ask? Surely it's not only in order to find racing partners.

[ -- finally, a woman of his own heart. except not, because she is no leia organa, no offense, bev. ]

There's a hell of a lot of people on this Fleet that've never been in space before.

[ it's a short way to say 'what in the actual fuck were these people thinking?' ]

Just curious to see if anybody else was still getting their space legs, or had to when they got here. -- what's the name of your ship?

Ah, yes, that's true.

[It's a thing she's come to accept now, really, being the resident "space expert."]

The Enterprise.

[And oh that look of love in her eyes when she says the name of her ship (Even if it is technically more Picard's than hers. Details).]

[ ah. he recognizes that look, and that feeling, because that's the same exact thing he feels when he talks about his own ship. it's home, truly, and one han defends viciously, but he would rather be no other place in the world than on the millennium falcon. ]

Mine's the Millennium Falcon.

[ ugh he misses her so much. ]

Hell of a lot faster than these hunks of junk, but I'll have to make do with what I have.

[dancingmd]

Done entirely on purpose, I'm sure. Our captors can't have us running off at warp speeds, now can they?

[falconing]

[ captors. finally, someone uses the right word. ]

Think there's any escape from this horror show?

[dancingmd]

[That's her nice way of putting it. "Slavers" is the word she used to Diamond's face.]

If I didn't think there was any escape, I'd go crazy.

[She sighs.]

However, I've been here over ten months now - others have been even longer - so trust me... if you're thinking you can just fly out of here or hide away on the next planet, it's not going to happen. It's become obvious that we're going to have to be a little more... unconventional in our methods.

[ though it's said heavily, scowling to himself ]

I've had it up to here with escaping from this sort of crap.

Oh? Are you veteran of another one of these places?

[Yes, Han, she is definitely implying there are more kidnapping universes out there.]

I'm a veteran at escaping, period.

[ jail. the empire. jabba.

though, luke and leia are more to credit with the jabba thing than he is, but whatever, it still counts. ]

Speaking of which... I'm Dr. Crusher, one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish.

[ aha. ]

Han Solo. Pilot of the Huntress.

[ for now, anyway. ]

[She gives him a warm smile.]

Nice to meet you, Mr. Solo.

[Leaning forward, she rests her chin on her hands.]

Tell me more about your Millennium Falcon.

[Talking shop with other people from space faring societies oh yes, she loves this.]

[falconing]

[ there's a slight pause at the question. ]

... she's a Coreillian YT-1300 light freighter, modified with weaponry, a warp drive, and boosted engines for speed. She's got the fastest hyperdrive engines in the galaxy -- and she's the fastest ship out there.

[ it's said with a steady tone, like someone who has to sell the falcon to someone who doesn't think much of her. han solo was a smuggler -- and still is, really. but even past that, he speaks about his ship with a great amount of respect and devotion. he practically built the damn thing himself, after he won her from lando. ]

She's outrun Imperial Star Destroyers, Huttese bounty ships, and did the Kessel Run in under twelve parsecs. She's fought in wars, outrun wars, hidden from wars -- she's the best ship in the universe.

[ and his home. ]

She makes the Marsiva look like a joke.

[dancingmd]

[Naturally, a lot of those reference points don't make much sense to her - though "Imperial Star Destroyer" sounds alarming enough in its implications. The details aren't the most important thing, however: the pride Han shows in the Falcon is.]

Sounds like you two have been through a lot together.

[falconing]

She's home.

[ instantly, and han sighs, tilting back his chair a little. ]

She'd run circles around this train to wherever the hell we're going, that's for sure.

[dancingmd]

Home is where your ship is... I'm sure between the Falcon and the Enterprise, we'd be out of here in no time.

[Which is, of course, precisely while they will never see either ship in this universe.]

[falconing]

Probably why we haven't got either of them available.

[ han says what she's thinking, and he's forever salty over it. ]

[dancingmd]

That and I'm not really sure what they would do with the rest of my crew... I doubt they want 1000 highly trained members of Starfleet showing up here.

[falconing]

That’s right. The Enterprise is the flagship of our interstellar republic - what we call the Federation.

You've got a republic?

[ leia would be interested. ]

[She nods.]

There's about a hundred and fifty member planets, all semi-autonomous with democratic representation in the Federation Council.

[falconing]

[ whoa ]

... we could use some ideas.

[ on. you know. how to deal with that. ]

Have you talked to Leia yet?
