[ The greatest tragedy about Sora arriving on Christmas is the complete lack of his Santa outfit.

This consists of the keybearer staring sleepily down at his broadcasting communicator, too drowsy to show the confused enthusiasm he would otherwise or question how it started broadcasting at all. Or what is actually is.

He is way, way too used to waking up in random places with no memory of why at this point. Sometimes you just gotta go with it. ]

Can we do the whole 'hahaha I kidnapped you for my evil plans' bit later? These bunk things are comfy, and I'm tired.

I believe our translators may be malfunctioning-- I don't believe such a thing is possible, unless you're perhaps a counselor.

It sounds fine to me when you say it back!

Like...when people get all power hungry! The darkness in their heart grows and takes them over and you gotta stop it and bring 'em back to the light.

I see. And how do you do that?

Well, sometimes you can talk them out of it, if you can figure out what it was that sent them into darkness in the first place. But most of the time, the darkness warps them and you have to fight to clear it.

And what if said darkness isn't so clear-cut?

[clownshoes]

Well...then you have to find a balance. Not all darkness is bad, and if you can be in both the darkness and the light and not be hurting people, then it's okay.

[parricida]

Heh, I've learned a lot since everything started. We can't leave anyone hurting or stuck in the darkness.

Definitely not. I got dragged into it after my island got destroyed by the darkness and I had to try and find my friends.

Well, how to explain it...

The darkness makes a bunch of creatures called heartless, which are also made by people losing their hearts. And they steal the hearts of others and then swallow the heart of a world.

In the case of my world, the islands got torn apart. There was this biiiiig ball of darkness sucking everything in. The ground and the ocean and everything. And it sort of, at the same time, gets kinda frozen like it was right before that. So you can bring a world back even after it's been destroyed.

[Good lord. As far as he can understand, it's some sort of . . . alien force, perhaps? Something that this boy doesn't understand? All this talk of darkness and stealing hearts sounds entirely mythical, and there's only so far Garak can stretch his disbelief.]
