... I would like that. Thank you. This must be the ship I was assigned?

Yes, this is the Wonderduck. It's generally a comfortable ship, if nothing else.
[He's sympathetic. The Fleet is... interesting.]
Did you want a tour, perhaps, to orient yourself?
no subject
[She offers a small smile at that.]
My name's Blake.

[He gives a little bow.]
Perhaps it's best to start with the cockpit. If you'll follow me?
no subject
[She returns the gesture in kind.]
Lead the way.
no subject
[He turns to do exactly that, moving in the proper direction.]
The ship is not overly large and it should not take you long to orient yourself. Here is the cockpit. It is, I understand, standard to all ships in the Fleet. I don't suppose you know what augment you've received? You may have a station here.

[He inhales slowly. This would be easier if the circumstances weren't so questionable.]
If you're ready, there's more to see.
no subject
[But that slow inhale isn't escaping her notice.]
Are you okay?
no subject
[No matter. Don't worry about him. Off to the central hallway.]
Are you hungry now? I can show you the kitchen.
no subject
[She gives a very small grateful smile.]
I'd like that. Is it true all the food here is gel?
no subject
[He leads her into the kitchen, protein-dispenser and little stove and all.]
I've been experimenting with ways to make it more varied with the flavours and textures available to us, but being a robot, I neither eat nor taste myself. I can only replicate what I know humans find palatable and see if it is to anyone's taste.

You're a robot?
no subject
Yes, I am. I apologise. Perhaps I should have mentioned that upfront.

[She shakes her head and continues like nothing happened.]
Is it possible to stock up on food from when we visit planets? I heard about that.
no subject
[Still, he looks at her for a moment, assessing.]
It certainly is. Many people do. I understand it is a pleasant change from the staples we are provided.

It's an interesting problem for me, and sometimes I am able to make my crewmates happy with what I produce. So, yes. I enjoy it.

That would be wonderful. Fresh ingredients would greatly expand the possibilities of what I might make.
