[Now that's a voice he hasn't heard, and Stefan makes it a priority to know everyone on the ship. He glances up from the oven, pulling out a fresh batch of cookies and setting them on the counter.]

Well, I'm trying to. My recipes don't translate well with what Atroma has - but you're welcome to them when they've cooled down.

[ his mouth pulls up into a kind appreciative smile. he takes off the glove on his flesh hand and picks up a cookie. it's hot but he easily floats the cookie in his hand before taking another, stacking them neatly in mid-air ]

I met someone else in the fleet who likes to cook. She seems to be running into problems finding the right ingredients for her dishes too.

[He raises an eyebrow at the levitating cookies] That's gotta come in handy.

I'd believe it. Most of us come from Earth, and the vast reaches of outer space aren't so kind to our methods. [Case in point: the batch he just finished.] If you have the proper augment, it's a piece of cake, but uh - we haven't had a cook here in months.

[ His mentor would be so mad if he found out his careless use of the Force but Anakin shrugs. ] Sometimes, it is. Other times you're asking for more trouble than its worth.

[ He sets the cookies in his palm and snacks on one. ] Doesn't seem like you need an augment to be a cook. These are great.

I can imagine.

[At the compliment, Stefan blinks back surprise, staring at the rest of the batch before a slow smile comes across his face.]

Thanks. I had a few pointers, though - and about half a year of practice. [Grabbing a cookie of his own!] But hey, if you like them this much, I'll try to make 'em every week.

[ It's not hard to satisfy him, food-wise. He's already pleased that Stefan agreed to share. ]

[ He looks confused. ]

Wait, you need to practice making these? What's there to practice, don't you just-- [ He lifts his shoulders ] dump things in and put it in an oven.

That's how often our rations replenish.

[The less he thinks about that, the more sleep he gets at night, so he's ignoring those implications - but he has to laugh at the confused look. Stef at least tries to muffle it with a hand, but. It's not entirely successful.]

I wish! Baking's like a science - unless you've got the ratio right, you try making cookies and you end up with a burnt mess.

[ Sorry Stefan, he's going to pry at that a bit. ] Once a week? That's pretty specific. Let me guess, Atroma has an internal clock.

[ Eating another cookie, he raise his eyebrows. ] So, they aren't packaged to... I don't know, an accurate "cookie" ratio?

Probably. I'm not sure how they replenish, other than they do.

[He's been assuming magic this whole time, because magic is the least-questionable answer.]

Only in space---[Oh. Oh that might explain this line of questioning. Stefan's expression softens.] -- and when they are, I don't trust them as much as anything I can make myself.

[ He makes a face. Suddenly he doesn't know how much more of the space goop he wants to eat from the dispenser.

He also wonders if he can survive on cookies alone. ]

Well. I guess that's as good as we get it.

Do you need help? I've never made cookies in my life, but I could use something to do.

Sure. I could always use a sous chef. [Especially since he does the bulk of the cooking! If he didn't like his augment so much, he would've switched over a long time ago.]

I'm Stefan, by the way. Whenever I'm not in here, I'm usually in the med bay.

Fair warning, I don't know what sous chef is and I've never done any cooking in my life that didn't involved a lot more fire than this.

I don't mind. [No one can be worse than Ahsoka.] Better I teach you now than let you flounder if I ever get sick.

Besides, by the time we're done, you'll be able to impress anyone you want with your skill in the kitchen.

Well [ he looks back at the machines lying around the kitchen ] There's always that protein cubes and ... I don't know what else they have.

[ He laughs, snorting a bit ] Right, most impressive. I owe you my thanks then.

Plenty of real food in the fridge, I promise. You'll have to heat it up in the oven, and Kirito's helping me with an extra freezer.

[For things like ice cream and meat!! But mostly ice cream]

It's seriously nothing. You're part of my crew now, and we should have each other's backs.
