Action on the Blue Fish
[You've got an armored lady on board, Blue Fishies. Unarmed, of course, but that makes her all the warier as she glances around uneasily. Too much of this is foreign to her. The fact that there's something in her head telling her what some of it is makes it worse. Like the taint in her telling her when darkspawn were near, but much more potent and a lot more invasive. So having the armor on may seem unnecessary, but it's all she has and it makes her feel a little safer. Much like a child clinging to a stuffed animal. A metal one that could break a jaw.
She moves over to the food set out, scrunching her nose at it. Maker, none of it looks right. Not that Fereldan food was the be all and end all of fine cuisine, but at least there were recognizable ingredients in it. This was... not food.
Her upbringing obliged her to at least take some and try it. Though she was relatively sure that her lessons didn't account for being kidnapped and offered not-food to her...]

[So after settling in and having had time to take stock, Riona finally feels comfortable in attempting this messaging thing. With any luck, someone else from Ferelden - or Thedas even - got brought here as well and could perhaps explain a bit more what was going on.
Or, honestly, just conversing with someone else from her world would be a relief at this rate.]
Assuming this isn't the worst drunken stupor or dream in history - and I'm still not entirely certain it isn't - I understand I am to be here for some time. And that I am to work on this ship [The word is said with a hint of skepticism. Ships float on water, not fly.] in that interim.
Maker's breath.
[She heaves a sigh.] Okay, fine. Well, no, it's not fine but it seems I have little recourse in that regard right now. I mean, did you really have to take my sword and shield? I don't use it willy-nilly.
Anyway, is there... truly no way to send word back to our homes? Not even a message? [Her next words are considered carefully.] My absence will be noted very quickly, and likely would cause a panic amongst certain parties. I only wish to avoid that. [And stop her husband from launching a huge search campaign for her.] Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly. [She forces a polite smile before she fumbles with the device, finally getting it to shut off after a moment's struggle.]

You're out of luck; you're not drunk and you can't comm home. I've tried before, but nothing goes out and nothing comes in. Being in a whole different universe might have something to do with that.
no subject
So I'm starting to understand. [She frowns.] A different universe?
no subject
I'm Anakin, I'm a pilot on Paisely.
no subject
I come from a place called Thedas, though it refers more to the continent than the world itself. Though it might as well be the whole world, for how little we know about the rest of it.
I'm Riona Cousland, newcomer to the Blue Fish. Communications officer, whatever that means. Nice to meet you, Anakin. Have you been here long?
no subject
I've been here almost a month. Your Blue Fish therapist actually welcomed me on my first day. He's a good kid, but I wouldn't recommend talking to him about your problems.
no subject
I've yet to meet all my crew. Why do you say that, though?
no subject
He tries, but I don't think he's someone you feel like you can tell your problems to. Unless your problem is where the kitchen is.
no subject
[Her lips twitch in a contained laugh.]
I wasn't aware most ships had someone you came to with your problems. Interesting. Well, if I get lost on my way to the kitchen I know who to turn to. Lucky me.
no subject
What's your world like? Cold, I take it.
no subject
no subject
Well, at least you won't get any of that on this ship. If you have a mini snowstorm happening here, you probably have bigger problems.
no subject
[She's not very good at being cynical, even when she wants to be.]
Yes, a ship suddenly having weather does sound awful. Though it would make an interesting set up for a snowball fight.
no subject
It might be but you should also be a little concern about how safe you are on that ship.
no subject
PHONE MESSENGER RAVEN.]You've never ice skated before?
[This pretty much derails everything else, because that? That is a travesty right there.]
no subject
Where I come from, we have sand instead of snow.
no subject
[No offense, Anakin, but that sounds kind of awful.]
Well, in places much less sandy, when it gets cold enough outside, lakes and rivers will freeze. If the water is frozen enough for the ice to be solid, people will go out on it and slide or skate around. Lots of slipping and sliding. Someone will inevitably land on their arse.
no subject
It's the sand - the sandstorms, the suns, lack of water. The whole planet is a desert. Not the kind of place you want to stay for more than a few hours.
[ chuckling, softly. ] That sounds a lot better than I thought it would be. I didn't know people fall on their asses for fun.
no subject
Well, it's not really the point, but it's fun to watch it happen to other people. It's hard to describe how fun it is until you're actually doing it.
no subject
There's nothing similar in a desert world. Like you said, it gets everywhere. It's coarse and rough and irritating. [ WORST LINE IN THE MOVIE. CHECK ] And it will take more than it will give.
no subject
[BRAVO FOR THAT LINE.]
Did you spend your whole life there?
no subject
No, I got off planet the first chance I got.
no subject
no subject
Why did you leave your home if you liked it there so much?
no subject
Fascinating. I take it they're under some sort of... galactic authority?
[She smiles wryly.]
Because someone called Atroma thought it'd be entertaining to plunk me here far, far away from home.
no subject
Sort of. Ultimately, we can only guide governments in the right direction, that will serve its people right, and defend those that can't do so themselves. We don't hold any official body of power.
[ That gets a laugh out of him. ]
Of course. I'm sorry you'll have to continue to miss all that snow for now. You just missed an icy planet, actually.
