I didn't. Anakin bought them for me! But apparently they're in the south quadrant of the main market in town, by a fox fur vendor.

[ there's only the slightest of hesitations, as han was literally about to pop one into his mouth -- and there's a serious mental battle going on, weighing whether or not (briefly, for a crazy paranoid moment) these things were poisoned. 'cause, you know, it could happen.

but even han can recognize that's silly, and he bites into one after his brief moment of fucking anakin skywalker. ]

I'll give you some free advice, 'cause I'm feeling nice today. Tell Leia you got 'em for yourself.

[ pause ]

[Ahsoka sighs.]

She really doesn't like him, huh.

I won't lie to her if she asks. But I'm happy to conveniently not mention it.

[falconing]

She's complicated.

[ which is a cheerful, affectionate way to say 'she kind of wants to punch anakin skywalker in the throat on a daily basis'. ]

I love her, but she's complicated -- anyway, my compliments to Jedi Skywalker, I'll make every attempt to be nice this week.

[Innocently:]

Obi-Wan said you don't like him much either.

[falconing]

Obi-Wan needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.

[ and han flicks a candied date at ahsoka, almost accusingly, as if she's actually crossed a line.

which she hasn't, because how is she supposed to know why han doesn't like anakin, but whatever. ]

I spent an entire hour in a room with him and we didn't kill each other. I'd say that's an improvement.

[ granted, luke and leia were there, and han was quiet and acted like he wasn't there, but whatever man!!! ]

[Ahsoka catches it easily. Jedi reflexes. Then she tosses it back to him.] Don't play with your food.

Honestly? I'm a little surprised. I guess I don't know what happens in the future, but-- as far as right now goes, I always thought you two were kinda alike.

[falconing]

[ initially, the reaction is a jolt of are you kidding me, because han is nothing like anakin. he's morally flexible, and he's got a laundry list of sins, but he's never tortured someone. he's never killed innocent people (that weren't going to kill him first, anyway). he's not ruthless, or heartless --

but ahsoka doesn't know that anakin, yet. and to be fair, han doesn't know this anakin. and while the urge to immediately slam down an instinctive no is overwhelming, han bites the inside of his cheek to give ahsoka a withering smile. almost like the thought of being compared to that isn't the most revolting thing he's heard all day. ]

Funny.

[ and slightly true, maybe. gross. gross, gross, gross, gross -- ]

But I think the better half [ is that what leia is, what does he even call her, god why is his life such a mess ] might find that weird, so I'll pass on the sentiments to Luke, consider what that means about me, take three showers, and pretend you didn't say that.

Why? Anakin's got loads of good qualities. He's passionate, brave, daring. A little bit cocky sometimes, and not too good with feelings, but he cares a lot about people and always sticks up for the little guy. He's the sorta person who'd prefer to break a rule or two if it means doing the right thing, rather than play by the book. And that's kind of like you, right?

[falconing]

[ which, if han wants to give anakin the credit ahsoka wants him to give, is all true. to a certain extent, anyway. han doesn't see half of those qualities in himself, but he can take some of them with a grain of salt. and while anakin may be all of those things now, he certainly was not when he decided to torture han for no reason. or when he sold him to boba fett, who turned him over to jabba.

when he was going to freeze his own son in carbonite, but used han as the test subject first.

or when he stood by and allowed leia's planet to be destroyed.

han, though, is an excellent liar. for however dramatic and complaining he can be, he's also perfectly capable of putting on a smile and letting it slip under the radar until later. he can't tell any of that to ahsoka, and he certainly can't tell her why being compared to anakin makes his skin crawl, but han can tell her: ]

You're fishing for something I can't tell you, kid.

[ it's said as gently as possible, but with a certain hint of let it go attached to his tone. ]

I promised Luke I'd behave myself. That's about all you're gonna get out of me.

[resnipstance]

What? I'm not fishing...!

[Okay, so maybe she was, just a little.]

[falconing]

You're fishing.

[ han solo is the best smuggler and scoundrel in the galaxy, young miss, he knows when someone is trying to get information out of him. ]

[resnipstance]

Well... maybe just a little.

But I was also telling the truth.

[falconing]

Which is appreciated and all, but not necessary.

[ one day, ahsoka will find out. han hopes it won't be as catastrophic as he thinks it will be.

but until then, she can keep defending her master. ]

[resnipstance]

I just thought... maybe if you could see each other's good qualities, you'd get along better.

[falconing]

Too much bad blood.

[ it's the tiniest inkling of truth, but han figures it's harmless. he obviously has a vendetta against anakin that lasts beyond initial dislike. and ahsoka deserves an ounce of truth. ]

But I'll keep it in mind the next time I want to punch him in the face.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka visibly cringes.]

Please don't punch him in the face. It isn't going to end well.
