[ by all accounts, sansa stark has survived. she now lives on an armoured ship. her brothers are nearby -- alongside one brother's devoted friends, who have all been more kind to her kin than she can put to words. although nothing so much as approaches normal, she's beginning to feel settled. stability creeps in from the corners.

and this allows her to ask a question of her fleetmates: ] Is there any means by which I might find spare cloth and thread? And needles, too, of course. The ships give us so much, but I'm not certain -- [ not certain they can give me these. she does not understand their magic, nor the purchasing power of her device. ]

I like to embroider. I should like to do it again, if I could. [ but without a handmaiden to bid fetch these things, she doesn't know how to begin. perhaps it's as simple as looking in the correct spot -- but she was never raised to procure or purchase anything in her life. ]

She ruins things. And -- she was always covered in muck and straw and soot. [ sansa frowns. it's been far too long since she's seen arya. ] She never knew...doesn't know how to behave.

She's a tomboy. [There's a fond ruefulness to Leia's words.] How old is she?

-- She would be one-and-ten, now. [ but sansa has not seen her since she was ten. ]

Then there's time for her to grow out of it. [Just look at Leia, semi-reformed tomboy of three-and-twenty.] You might go home and find a changed sister.

Hopefully, my lady.

[ if sansa appears to be a conversationalist who leaves much to be desired, then it's because her natural inclination is to be dull. dull young women attract less attention. ]

[Leia just assumes Sansa's people value something other than good conversation; it starts to feel like everything she says sputters and dies when it reaches the girl's ears. Maybe it's time for another change of subject.]

So, when you aren't embroidering, what do you like to do?

-- Do you know of the high harp, my lady?

[ it's the only answer she can find appropriate. sansa doesn't want to share the true despair of how her free hours have been spent: in agony, and in tears. ]

I'm afraid I don't. Do you play?

I do, when I have a harp. We have beautiful songs back in Westeros. Bright, and romantic.

I can imagine.

[On the list of her own accomplishments, "music" is pretty low on the list holiday specials notwithstanding, but she can certainly appreciate musical ability in others.]

I'd bet we could find you a harp, if you wanted one.

[ she is quick to shake her head -- refuse, really, and instead touch upon the gift leia had brought with her. ]

Needle and thread is all the diversion I need. For now.

[Considering they've only just met, she's not going to press the issue. She doesn't know Sansa's homeworld or its culture, and offering too much might give any number of wrong impressions.]

If you ever change your mind, let me know, all right? I've got a few more credits than I know what to do with these days.

[If there was a way to buy herself out of the Fleet, it might be a different story, but as it is, there's nothing she wants that badly.]
