§ 1st Fairytale
Who: Jilly Coppercorn
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: The Marsiva
When: Mid-day
[Action]
[there's no surprise when she wakes up. No stream of questions or panic or indignant disbelief. When Jilly sits up, she only has eyes for the massive bank of windows and the stretching, open expanse beyond. Her boots are almost silent as she pushes up from the cot and moves closer, just...staring. In a moment, she might notice anyone else awake and wandering around the Hospitality Deck and, eventually, she'll recognize the strange little communicator sitting on the table next to her cot. But--for just this moment--awe wins.
Once she shakes off the initial wonder, those on the Marsiva can find her....anywhere, really. Marveling at the view from the viewing bay, poking at the strange devices in the kitchen, or exploring the baffling maze of empty hallways--Drift Fleet has acquired one curious, tiny artist (just barely 5'0"!), and she's determined to see EVERYTHING.]
[Network]
[It takes awhile for her excitement to settle enough to sit down and check out the communicator, but that only makes her wonder return when she realizes that it feels...familiar. Christy had only just talked her into buying a home computer last month and she really hadn't done much with it, and yet she had no trouble at all finding the video function on this tiny device and switching it on for a close image of a pair of bright blue eyes. The image wobbles as she pulls it back to reveal a small-boned woman with a head of unruly curls (whatever magic Atroma used to get the paint out of the strands hadn't done anything to tame the tangles).]
Hello.
[She smiles, shaking her head slightly] I'm not really sure who I'm introducing myself too, but I'm Jilly. All of these messages...obviously the few of us on this ship aren't the first to show up. You can hear us, too, right?
[she has more questions, of course, but it doesn't feel urgent. For now she's just...curious.]

[it's soft. Her expression hadn't really changed, but for the first time since she woke up, she feels chilled all the way through.
you're not a slave
Well. That answered that question.] That's a pretty name.
[she's quiet for just a moment as she considers. Really, however troubling the girl's words were, they were a bit reassuring, too, so long as she was reading her right. It could have been a Stepford kind of reassurance, but Jilly didn't get that sense from the others she'd spoken to. Instead, Koala's pauses and nervousness felt more like...water testing. Like someone reminding themselves to answer to a new name or a new job title that doesn't quite fit right, yet. Had she been brought here as some sort of...rescue?
...But that didn't make sense, totally, either. Jilly certainly didn't need rescuing from anything back home. Not anymore.
Still. It was another piece of the puzzle]
Everyone has been very nice answering questions. Do you have a very large crew with you? On your ship?
[and so it begins. Less than six hours after being kidnapped by aliens, and Jilly is determined to make sure this girl has a strong network of people around her.]

[Very kind of her to say. She appreciates that.]
I do have a very well-sized crew, miss! We have two pilots, and two captains. And a cook, and many skilled fighters. I-I think I'm the only one who doesn't know how to fight, but I am fortunate to be under their protection in exchange for my work in the team.
[Cleaning, that is. Even when they try to get her not to.]

[she chooses her words carefully, not wanting to read into Koala's words, but also not wanting to overlook (the oh-so-many) red flags]
I'm glad you have protection, but I hope [you] we won't need it.
If we ever do, though, there seem to be a lot of people who would be willing. Even without some kind of exchange.

[It's spoken with careful caution, because she's too entirely used to putting something before someone's name. She'll get used to it eventually, at least.]
It's very nice, that so many people are willing to watch out for each other. Even for someone like me! I'm very relieved to be on such a kind ship crew. Is your crew kind to you as well?
no subject
[well, except for Sasuke who has mostly just been pessimistic and quiet, but that's hardly a crime]
I'm looking forward to meeting more people, though, too.
no subject
I apologize, miss! I didn't even consider that you hadn't been shuffled yet. I really should have!
But I'm sure you will have a kind crew; I've been to a few ships, and they've been very good to me.
no subject
It's a pretty big fleet, it seems. I think it's okay if you haven't met enough people to know for sure who just arrived and who's been here awhile.
Everyone has been very nice, and I am sure it'll be the same when I meet my crew.
no subject
What sort of augment do you have, miss? That will say a lot about your sort of job!
... If you don't mind me asking.
no subject
I think I have a cooking augment. [a quick laugh] So I guess that makes it pretty clear.

Sometimes people get things they don't enjoy doing. But it's nice to learn how to cook...
