The only other sound is that of the painfully bland music in the background, without a word being spoken.

At least this inept user finally turns the communicator around to inspect it at another angle, granting any viewer a flash of dark and impractically spiked hair before the camera then focuses on equally shadowed eyes and a severe expression.

I'd guess it was a complex illusion instead if I could imagine the motivation or skill to make that possible either.

Someone I knew from my world says she was brought here some time ago but remained in my timeline, so it's not for the purpose of somehow weakening our home worlds.

It seems like data collection if these implants have that ability.

... I can confirm it's definitely not to weaken our home worlds. I thought for a while, maybe for purposes of an army through controlling our perceptions through the implants, but there's too many non-combatants for that here.

Data collection isn't something I can really confirm or deny unless we had a reason for them to be collecting data.
