[ Sure there are bound to be the occasional less-than-thrilling broadcasts but this one may be a new low, with the camera focused in on a nondescript blob that turns out -- with some acquired distance -- to be a knee. The feed shakes then and there's the loud metallic tap tap of the device being knocked against the framework of one of the generic cots aboard the Marsiva. Tap. Tap. Tap. The only other sound is that of the painfully bland music in the background, without a word being spoken.

At least this inept user finally turns the communicator around to inspect it at another angle, granting any viewer a flash of dark and impractically spiked hair before the camera then focuses on equally shadowed eyes and a severe expression.

No, he's not going to panic. He probably already did that internally before he even tried to figure out the communicator ~~less than successfully~~. Send aid. ]

[ Sasuke will be easy to encounter either sitting on that cot and fiddling with his communicator, exploring the bay thoroughly, or staring with incredible and difficult-to-read intensity out into the murky void of space. Godspeed. ]

You were upset because you thought I was asking because I wanted to avoid you. [ WE DID IT, WE CLIMBED THE MOUNTAIN, he figured it out. ]

[ He's really going to have to get used to the being around people thing, she thinks, but he'll discover that much for himself. Even the ships like hers that had separate rooms were pretty tight quarters.

But more importantly -- wow, boys are dumb. Part of her assumption comes from the way he was the last time they saw each other, though, so she decides to explain. ]

To be fair, the last time I saw you, you kind of wanted to kill me and everyone else in Konoha.

Even without all of that, though, avoidant is just kind of how you are with most people.

[ His question gets a little enigmatic smile. It's true, she looked happy to see him despite all of that. ]

[ Wanting to kill everyone was lashing out, not solving the problem. She had enough faith in him to know that if he hadn't already, he would realize that soon enough. Like he had before.

But looking at him now, he seems more tired than angry, and so she's pretty sure she's correct to think that he's already moved on from that. ]

I think you've had enough time to stop being reactionary and start being smart.

[ He's not so perfectly removed from his carefully suppressed temper to not feel a pang of irritation at her outside judgement of his crimes as "reactionary" with the added implication of their stupidity, but... it's simple enough to quell with the simple internal reminder that she's right.

His plans were born of anger, not as a solution, and the one solution he had formed had been too impractical and extremist. Based in better intentions, but still forged in a pretty sick mind. ]

... Aa. [ At long last. ] My actions, my ideas...

[ Her expression softens a little when he says that. She wasn't particularly looking for an admittance, an apology, anything like that -- but it is nice to see that he's got his head on straight again. ]

Don't get me wrong, I get why you did what you did. As much as I can get it, anyways. [ After all, she's definitely removed from the situation somewhat. ] But you're smart as hell. I know you well enough to know you'd do the right thing eventually.

So yeah, I trust you.

[ 'I still wouldn't, he might add, but he's not actually looking to convince people of anything here. She's entitled to her own opinions without his influence one way or the other. ]

Then you had more confidence about my future than I did. [ A grim reminder of how close he'd really been to murdering everyone in that village. ]

I think pretty much everyone we know had a lot more confidence in you than you had in you.

... And I've had a lot of time to think about stuff. I hate to add to the list of reasons why this place kinda sucks, but wow, do we have a lot of free time.

[ But anyways. ]

Anything else you want to know? --You said your injuries were taken care of, right?

[ There's just a 'hn' in response this time, a sign that that's as much openness as he's able to manage right now. Give him more time to buffer some more. ]

For the most part. I don't have any open wounds.

[ She gives him a flat look. ]

So what you're saying is there's still something wrong that you need help with.

You said, "for the most part", meaning not all of them. Implying that there's still something that wasn't taken care of.

I didn't expect it to be and it isn't an inconvenience yet. I'll find a way to address it if I need to.

[ She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. ]

But he cuts her some slack at least, finally angling the communicator to show his shoulder, then lower to his sleeve... which is noticeably slack. ]

Ha, ha.

[ But she watches with interest when he does that, and then ... her mouth drops open in surprise. How the hell did he of all people lose an arm ...

If he didn't even want to show her that it was missing, though, it's even more unlikely he's going to be willing to explain how it happened, so she moves on to the healer type of questions. ]

Is it -- the severed area's healed over completely? [ Not that the rest of his arm came with him, she's pretty sure if it had been possible to reattach it would have been done. ]

[ That arm was surely disintegrated one hundred percent given the nature of its loss. R.I.P. arm and dated icon.

He directs the camera back up again, checking to make sure he still has it facing properly. ]

It is. No open wounds; I said it already. I don't have more than phantom symptoms. [ Right, the occasional dull pain or attempt to use a limb he hasn't yet gotten accustomed to living without. Things that bother him somewhere deep down, but that he consciously registers as unimportant. ]

[ Jeez, that's still rough, though ... ]

I'm sorry, Sasuke.

... But I think, if you wanted -- you could get a prosthetic built. You'd probably be able to have a decent range of function on it.

[ Well, at least now he knows the option is there. He'd assumed it would be given what appears to be a certain level of technological advancement, but... ]

It's a possibility. As long as not having it doesn't get in my way, I don't miss it. [ As strict with himself as ever. ]

Of course it's going to get in your way, not having a hand is kind of an inconvenience when you've spent your whole life having it.

[ She almost says it with the air of a question. Like, are you dumb, Sasuke????? OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO BE A PAIN???? ]

Look. My boyfriend and his younger brother are engineers, they build stuff like that all the time at home. I'll see if they can draw up a plan for you for something that'll be like having your hand back again.

I've explained to you already that I mean what I say. [ His stubbornness has not lessened despite his morality shift. ]

I'll decide what's appropriate for me and at what time. Until then, I'm fully confident in my ability to adapt. [ Of course he is. He's Sasuke. ]

Well then, if you don't like what they draw up, you can just say no then.

As is my wont, sure. [ I would love to have seen Ino and Sasuke squabble in canon. ]

Is there the ability to make a carbon-based flesh replacement here?

[ It would have been great and also probably dangerous for the people around them. ]

I don't know about living flesh, but at the very least they could probably make something that looks and feels like skin, and that's attached to the nerves left on that side to operate on those signals.

It's just a matter of stopping somewhere they could get the materials.

You should know why it is that I'm asking.

The appearance of it is irrelevant. [ He's never cared about looks of any fashion, after all. ] If I were to get a replacement then I'd want it to be able to have chakra channeled through it as effectively and quickly as possible.
