Who: Elim Garak and YOU
Broadcast: Network wide at first; to the Red Fish ship afterwards
Action: In his room
When: December 28th
[A wholly pleasant smile appears on the network. While the face it's attached to is . . . reptilian, to say the least, at least the smile is friendly. Prominent ridges outline Garak's cheekbones and where a human's eyebrows would be; his black hair is neatly combed back from his face.]
I wonder . . . while the planet below is quite charming, I find myself rather disliking the temperature. And while I can amuse myself with embroidery, I find myself wanting nothing more than a good book. Do any of you have recommendations? I'm somewhat familiar with Terran literature; a friend of mine even says I have a favorite genre: realistic fiction, if that's any help.
My sincerest gratitude to any who might help.
[A beat. He cuts off the feed and adds to the members of the Red Fish:]
Coil. Might I ask you to stop by when you've a spare moment?

Good point. ...I don't know what to say about my home that would be very interesting, however.
We haven't come close to achieving the level of technology that I've since seen on other worlds, if that counts.

Both-- though my family in particular comes from a very wet climate, and that is what I prefer. Also, we have no film, so... stories it is.

There's nothing like it in the world. ...I must admit that I hold quite a fondness for them.

I would love that.

My schedule is wide open.

An hour, then, my dear.
video
It's a date.
I'll meet you by this lovely little ice bar near the landing area. You can't miss it--the windows are all full of little blue lights.

[JUST KIDDING he goes there almost immediately, getting a drink and sitting in the darkest corner he can.]
action
and he's got his original set of clothes looking nice again, so he's dressed up well and looking sharp by the time he finally arrives.
Garak kind of stands out, so he's not hard to find. Tek smiles and lifts his chin in greeting when he spots him, and heads on over.]
action
Hello, my dear. I hope I didn't arrive too early?
action
he'll hang a step back, arms casually folded, and give Garak a rather obvious glance up and down.]
Oh, I don't know. Your face does look a tad slapdash.
action
[He puts a hand to his chest, as if gravely offended.]
I must say, I'm hurt. I spent a good deal of time simply staring at myself in the mirror, fussing to ensure I'd be entirely pleasing to you.
action
Yes, right here-- [he points at his own eyebrow, indicating Garak's magnificent ridges] --it's a little uneven. Your whole complexion is just a little bit off.
action
Will you take a seat? I'm afraid I can't take the scrutiny for much longer.
action
[and he does settle down and take a seat, though still isn't shy about eyeing Garak. he figures he's probably used to being stared at--and if he isn't, now is as good a time as any to start developing a tolerance.]
Though, I see that your early arrival has deprived me the chance of buying you a drink. I'll have to come up with some other opening gesture of good will, now.
[besides immediately insulting him upon first sight, anyway.]

[and he squints a little at the glass in Garak's hands.]
No alcohol? [because he really can tell that from here.]
action
Now, how did you know I wasn't drinking alcohol, hm? Overly familiar with this bar, are we?
action
[and he taps the side of his own nose, implying that he can smell it--even though that's not exactly truthful.]
action
[He practically purrs the word out, but files that away for later-- whether or not it's true, however he knew about his drink is admirable.]
What other talents do you possess, hm?
