[ He relaxes his grip on whatever he was holding behind his back, the absence of weaponry making him less inclined to feel a need to arm himself. That's the least of my concerns. I'd hardly be held back by something so trivial, and I'd assume a 'captain of the royal guard' wouldn't either.

A word of warning: the stuff we're supposed to cook is more flammable than it should be.

[She rubs behind one of her frilly ears.]

It's just fire, it's not like it's a big deal. But it does tend to make the little girl panic.

[ Right. So after hearing that the cook is incompetent enough to have started several dangerous fires, given that they're in an enclosed place, and after already seeing her natural inclination towards violent behavior, what is Sasuke's response? ]

She was apparently a slave. We're trying to condition her out of it, but it's hard.

I shouldn't have to tell you what happens to people who take advantage of little girls.

[ He gives her the flattest look he can muster, which is pretty damn flat. ]

Why the hell would I need to take advantage of a child? There's nothing she can do for me that I can't do better for myself.

[She continues giving him a stare like she's seeing right through him... but eventually, she relents.]

If you see anyone giving her trouble though, tell me. Immediately. [And in a very unsubtle gesture, she draws her finger across her neck.]

If I see anyone unduly abusing a child then I'll intervene myself. I don't have an issue passing the information along when I see you, however. [ 'Unduly' is the keyword here. ]
