[ When she wakes up, the first thing that's obvious to her is that this is not her house; it's nothing like it, and that's more than enough to have her drop her hands to her hip - where, again, there's nothing familiar. The next stop is around her neck and it's obvious that she finds some comfort there, her fingers sliding around a ring before she breathes out and moves to sit up. At least some things are familiar, and she recognises a video feed when she sees it, lifting her free hand to push her hair out of her eyes. ]

Well, this isn't the Drabwurld, is it.

[ She sounds remarkably put out about it, shifting to stand and adjust her weight, her fingers finally dropping away from the ring around her neck. It's only then that she really looks into her feed, wondering if it worked just like the lockets did - and, at the same time, wondering if she ought to be afraid. Considering the number of worlds and things she saw and went through in the Drabwurld, however, she thinks that it'll take a little more than this to put her on edge, even without her weapons. ]

I don't suppose anyone here has heard of Nimh Gleanne? Leathann? ... Anything like that?

[ There's a kind of awkward hopefulness in her voice as she tries to smile, the scar on her cheek shifting with her lips. ]

Of course I can. I can even say more.

[ And there's nothing Hermione wants more than to see Sansa smile. She remembers the markets, buying dresses together, gentle words and promises - and she kept hers, even in Sansa's absence. ]

There was Nimh Gleanne, to the north-west of Caer Glaem, which was below the White Citadel. To the east was Treun and Leathann, and the north held Caer Scima and Quendi. There were even elvenlands and high castled keeps, such as Redgate and the Cothromach.

[ A gentle whisper of the word, to see if it means anything to her. ]

[ and music is all they remain.

there is no spark of recognition -- no shudder of knowledge. only plain-faced delight as sansa dares a small self-indulgent smile at the sounds. this new young woman speaks them well, and makes them sound like something enchanted. every syllable in its place. ]

I'm sorry. [ she sighs. the smile disappears. ] Wherever they are, you're far from them now.

[ Hermione softens and shakes her head, her bushy hair falling around her shoulders. Even as she smiles a part of her does look regal - and, for once, she doesn't brush off the gentle my lady that came before. She's been Marchioness for years, now, and she's too used to it to complain - and she knows Sansa, too, even if it was never as well as she liked. ]

I thought so. It was a nice thought, at least.

[ Pausing, she hesitates before she leans forward a little. ]

Have - have you been here long?

A handful of moons. Not many. [ she rushes to explain that she's hardly an expert -- hardly a veteran. ] Other have been here longer. I hope you have at least a familiar face. I think it's easier when you're not alone.

[ she is fortunate. she has brothers. ]

[ So, longer than she had been away from the Drabwurld. It made sense, considering her shard was left behind for Robb to take (Hermione had checked on that, too), but... Still. Still. A part of her yearns to talk to Sansa, to speak to her about her Keep, her brother, the promises she made and how she had taken care of Robb even when he had lost his shard and his connection to home - but she doesn't.

She keeps her mouth shut and a smile on her face. ]

I'm sure I'll find someone I recognise. I'm not too worried about that.

[ A breathe, and then - ]

My name is Hermione.

[ hermione. is it possible that such a name could be even more beautiful than the ones already spoken? a smile ghosts across her face -- tugging at the corners of her mouth, but never staying long itself to resolve itself into a proper expression. ]

Sansa. Mine is Sansa, and I'm aboard the Blue Fish. [ ... ] It will be some time before the Atroma shuffle you onto a vessel, Lady Hermione. I'm sorry.

[ something about the other young woman puts sansa in mind of nobility -- it makes it easy to err on the side of a title. ]

[ This Sansa is familiar, but - different, too. The gentle, if shy, confidence that the Lady of the Cothromach had shown her months and months before is gone and replaced by a shy, sweet young woman. The Drabwurld had changed Hermione a great deal - it had obviously done the same for Sansa. ]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Sansa. [ Old habits and that. ] I'm not too worried - and don't be sorry. I hardly think all this is your fault.

[ And she means it, too, her smile still gentle, bordering on the side of motherly. ]

You may be put on a fine ship. [ she tries to make it all sound a little better than it actually is. ] Or, if you don't like yours -- then mayhaps you can change it for another. It's what me and my brother did.

Oh, your - your brother is here? [ Hermione does her best to smother her hope, but she smiles all the same, hesitant and a little uncertain. ] He's on the Blue Fish too, then. What's his name?

[ sansa is cautious with strangers. and so isn't prepared to give away her kin's names. let them give themselves away, she decides.

she hedges: ] Actually, I have two brothers within the fleet. [ and a husband but she won't mention lord tyrion. ]

Oh, that's - that's amazing. [ And it's obvious that she means it, too. What else is obvious is the way her fingers lift, wrapping around a pendant that settles about her neck; the charm on it is in the shape of a wolf, the kind that Sansa might well remember. ] I had a brother with me in the Drabwurld, too. His name was Nico - he was so young but he was so brave, too.

[ she thinks on bran. young but brave. ]

Apologies, my lady. I cannot say I've known anyone by that name, here.

[ apologies that you may be alone. ]

It's okay. I didn't expect him to be here - he went home, I think, back to his own world.

[ It wasn't okay at the time; she had been miserable, for longer than she would be willing to admit. Knowing that Nico was happy, though, and safe, with friends that loved him... That was more important and she realises that. ]

Family means you're happy they're safe, even if they're away from you, right?

Yes, my lady. You speak the truth.

[ but inside all she wonders is whether you can be certain your kin is safe when you can't see them with your own eyes. can't feel them with your own hands. what if death awaits them when you're not there? ]

I do my best.

[ And she means that, too. She had been honest with Sansa and a part of her is sad they never had the chance to get closer in the Drabwurld - but they have this, here. Maybe she can use this time to get to know the girl behind the Lady. ]

I'd like to think so, at least.

[ she's been kind. oddly -- more welcoming, perhaps, than sansa has been. and so she aims to repay her kindness with the only honesty she can muster: ] The fleet is not a terrible place. Not truly. Most people are good and helpful. If you require anything, they will do what they can for you.

[ they. not i. ]

[ Hermione welcomes her honesty, knowing that the kindness and courtesies that she had been given when Sansa had been in the Drabwurld stemmed more form her place as lady than anything else. She holds on to it now, breathing out and closing her eyes, wondering about what her future here will bring and if they will ever come as close as they were there. ]

I appreciate it. I'm used to finding kindnesses from other people - and hopefully one day I can do the same in return.

If you need anything -- [ a soft pause. ] Talk to Ser Allen Walker. He is helpful. And, I think, worth trusting. As is James Potter. They are good souls; they will help you when you need help.

[ she does not include herself in the list. ]

[ Hermione isn't offended in the least. She understands, and she accepts that Sansa is Sansa. ]

Allen Walker, got it. [ A pause, then - ] I think James might be from my world.

-- Is he? [ her expression brightens by degrees. she likes james; he has been a source of much entertainment and support. ] James Potter of House Gryffindor?

[ one of the few lions worth consideration, she believes. ]

Of House - Oh! [ Hermione fights her laughter, beaming. ] That's the one. I suppose that would make me Hermione Granger of House Gryffindor, wouldn't it? [ The next part is said quietly, under her breath. ] Much better than Marchioness...

[ oh! well, then. sansa spares the new arrival a small smile. she isn't fool enough to believe that hogwarts houses work as the great houses of westeros work -- but the association is good enough to earn lady hermione a sliver of warmer consideration. ]

He has many fine things to say of your house.

Well, he should! There's nothing wrong with Gryffindor save the boys being prats half the time and some big-headedness that never seems to go away. [ She motions down at her own red and scarlet outfit. ] It follows me no matter where I go.

-- Do you know Remus, as well? [ a little jittery. happy, almost. these people have become allies, if not friends. ]

[ It's obvious just how fond Hermione is - everything about her softens at the mention of his name. ]

He's one of the best friends I've ever had in my entire life.
