[ When she wakes up, the first thing that's obvious to her is that this is not her house; it's nothing like it, and that's more than enough to have her drop her hands to her hip - where, again, there's nothing familiar. The next stop is around her neck and it's obvious that she finds some comfort there, her fingers sliding around a ring before she breathes out and moves to sit up. At least some things are familiar, and she recognises a video feed when she sees it, lifting her free hand to push her hair out of her eyes. ]

Well, this isn't the Drabwurld, is it.

[ She sounds remarkably put out about it, shifting to stand and adjust her weight, her fingers finally dropping away from the ring around her neck. It's only then that she really looks into her feed, wondering if it worked just like the lockets did - and, at the same time, wondering if she ought to be afraid. Considering the number of worlds and things she saw and went through in the Drabwurld, however, she thinks that it'll take a little more than this to put her on edge, even without her weapons. ]

I don't suppose anyone here has heard of Nimh Gleanne? Leathann? ... Anything like that?

[ There's a kind of awkward hopefulness in her voice as she tries to smile, the scar on her cheek shifting with her lips. ]

[He hears that slip and his stomach lurches-- but he doesn't comment on it. Not right now. There's too many thoughts swirling around in his head, but he won't forget that.]

What is it? I'm sure Moony is glad for the company-- he's quite put out that Padfoot isn't here, honestly.

[ There are more important things to focus on, and right now - well. Hermione is more than happy to show this off. ]

Just a second, let me -

[ Reaching out, she shifts and breathes out, adjusting her stance and closing her eyes. Then, after a moment, she shifts and transforms into a lioness - a brilliant white lioness, with a pair of wings that curl around her more like a griffin than anything else. She stays that way for a handful of moments, letting Remus see before she turns back, breathing out. ]

There.

Brilliant.

[He murmurs it fervently.]

That's brilliant-- a griffin, then? How long have you been able to do it?

Sort of a mix between a lion and a griffin - either Solais took my title seriously or she thought she might play a trick on me because of the 'Gryffindor' thing.

[ Either way, that's what she was; Lioness Courant, literally and metaphorically. ]

It's been just over a year and a bit, I think. I lost track of time, really.

Is it like being an animagus-- I mean, are there two separate personalities?

Sometimes it feels that way. I suppose it depends on my mind when I transform? Sometimes I'm in complete control, other times...

[ She hesitates, glancing away for a moment, throat tight. Sometimes she has no control and someone ends up dead. One time, but a haunting one. ]

I can think like myself, but it's hard to communicate with other people. It was easier with my friend - he was a telepath and we could sort-of speak.

Well, we can work it out over the next few months. I mean, if it's anything like what I'm used to, it shouldn't be that hard.

[ It should scare her, the idea of being here for months, but after three years in a place that wasn't England nor Hogwarts, all the things she went through and the growing up she did... ]

Thank you, Remus. Really, it - means a lot to me. It really does.

[He nods.]

Ah-- once you're assigned a ship, you ought to come by. I'd like to get to know you properly.

I'd love that! I'd like to get to know you, too. The Remus I knew was a fair bit older than you are now - I get the impression you'll be a little bit different.

[ She had seen memories of him when he was younger, of course, but it's not the same. ]

Not in a bad way, of course.

Just a touch more immature, hm?

[Teasing!]

[ She can't help her laughter, lifting her hand to cover her mouth. ]

I'm sorry, I can't imagine you being immature at all! You and I had that in common.

You never knew me in first year, I'm afraid.

[No, that's a lie, Remus was a disapproving little old man even in first year.]

Though James and Sirius were far more immature, I'll admit. Have you spoken to Jamie yet, by the way? Lily's here as well.

[If she knew him so intimately, surely she's at least acquainted with the others.]

[ And Hermione was a rather disapproving old woman for most of her Hogwarts career, even if she joined in every now and then. She and Remus have more in common than they had ever really talked about, she thinks. ]

Just like my friends. [ She's deliberately not saying their names; no need to mention Harry now, is there? ] I, um, no, I haven't seen James or Lily yet. I had no idea they were here.

[ And alive. Here and alive and oh, God, they're her best friend's parents and - she has to breathe. ]

They are. They're-- . . . James is here, with me, and Lily's on another ship, she only came last month.

[He's not a genius at reading faces, but Hermione looks panicked, and Remus' stomach plunges. Where he's from, the First Wizarding war rages on, and the death toll is only mounting higher. His parents are dead, but the Marauders and Lily have managed to escape for now.]

What's wrong?

I wonder what ship I'll end up on. It would be nice if I was on yours.

[ Something familiar and all that, she supposes. Looking at Remus, she hesitates for a moment before she shifts, careful. ]

I, um. I know James' son, that's all.

Harry?

[Remus brightens considerably.]

Thank god, I was tired of being the only one who remembered him-- are you his age? What's he like when he grows up?

[After all, if they'd been friends when he was older, it only makes sense.]

[ Oh, thank Merlin for that. At least she has that to cling to, a little relief. ]

He was in the same year as me at school - same house, too. My best friend, actually, the best I ever had there.

[ Not the best she's ever had, because the Drabwurld changed that - and changed Harry. But Remus doesn't need to know any of it. ]

I'm almost a year older than him, though, and he's - very brave, and funny, and he can be a complete prat sometimes but he had the best heart.

[He sounds like James, honestly. Remus beams.]

Fantastic-- and god, thank god he's a Gryffindor, I remember James wouldn't shut up when I suggested it might not be bad if he was a Hufflepuff or something. I, ah-- I only know him as a baby, I'm afraid, and it's not as if I thought he'd be anything but excellent, but--

It's good to know.

I think he was rather determined to be in anything but Slytherin, from what he told me, so I don't think James had too much to worry about. There's nothing wrong with any of the houses, though, not really, it's just the people in them.

[ Not all of the Slytherin students were Dark, after all. It just happened that the most famous ones were. ]

He's been told, um, that he looks just like his dad, but he has his mother's eyes. Anyone that knew them said the same thing, all the time. I think he absolutely took after his dad, though, and his Godfather.

He does. I mean, I can see it even now, he's got all that bloody hair-- is his sight as poor as James' is?

[James and Lily have enlisted him to babysit time and again, of course, and-- well, Remus knows, in his heart of hearts, that he won't have a child. Not if there's a chance of passing his condition on-- and even if that weren't a chance, what child would want the stigma of having a werewolf as a father?

So he dotes on Harry. He loves him, a little more than perhaps he should. Because those stolen moments are all he's ever going to get with a baby, so he might as well enjoy them.]

Yes, just about. He needs glasses and he's always breaking them - honestly, I think he'd be blind half the time if I wasn't around to fix them for him.

[ Because he never seems to do the spell himself most of the time and he's always getting himself into trouble. A part of her worries about what will happen now that he's neither here nor there and she's... Well, elsewhere, but he had changed so much that she thinks it might be best. At least for now.

It's one of the worst things she's ever thought and a part of her hates herself for it. ]

I think he has Lily's heart, though, and both their courage.

Have you-- you said you were from elsewhere. Was he there as well?

In the Drabwurld? He was, for a while, yes. Not as long as I was, but only by a few months.

Still, it must have been a comfort, having someone familiar in a new world. I can't imagine how lonely my start here would have been if I hadn't had James.
