[ ah, the flood of new people.

rei has been watching the network for the past half-day or so, and carefully exploring the marsiva. she's run into a fellow fire princess, but has avoided most everyone else. instead, she's been listening. waiting, watching. absorbing as much as she can before recognizing that this is, indeed, not a joke.

she's no longer in adstringendum, but somewhere new. either castiel's ritual failed, or the animus decided to say one last 'fuck you' to their favorite shinto priestess before kicking her out the door. aelia, as always, is a cruel mistress.

so when rei turns on the feed, she looks like a typical eighteen-to-nineteen year old girl, but her eyes look a lot older. her hair is long and falls across her shoulders, and she's wearing a sweater, jeans, and boots -- all miraculously mended thanks to the atroma. how nice of them.

there's no hope in her expression, necessarily, but she can't help but ask : ]

Is there anyone here from Adstringendum?

[ that should bring out the familiars, anyway. and rei waits, almost as if she's expecting someone to burst in from off screen and go SURPRISE -- but when that doesn't happen, she continues, a bit wryly -- ]

If not, then I guess I have to start from scratch. Hino Rei, your new securities personnel. Or... whatever they call it.

[ she certainly doesn't look pleased about it, anyway, and finally, her expression breaks into something frustrated. ]

But if this so-called reality TV show thinks that they can just take over where the Animus left off, they have another thing coming, because I've had it up to here with --

[ and rei stops herself before gritting her teeth, exhaling slowly, and frowning into the camera. ]

When do I get off of this thing?

[Well, Sam has already butted in, so leaving that aside--]

There's two of Cas on the Marsiva. One is... very different. He's harmless, I think.

And Sam's right-- this isn't his fault. People are turning up from all over, not just from the time of Castiel's ritual.

[ two. great. awesome. wow. ]

I'll hunt both of them down and make sure they haven't electrocuted themselves with a toaster yet.

[ pause ]

The other Castiel is our version, right?

[Pfft. She grins at that mental image. And then nods an affirmative.]

Yeah. He recognised me, so he's... the one you know. [How do you put that? The real Cas isn't right.] Kinda grumpy at finding himself here. Unsurprising. [Dryly.]

{ ugh, what a relief. ]

... at least he's in one piece.

[ pause ]

You've met the other one, right?

Yeah. [She sobers.] He's... a lot different. More casual about everything. Less self control. He raided the kitchen for just about everything.

[flameandpassion]

[ . . . well. ]

Maybe he was just hungry.

[ castiel does that sometimes but... more casual? less self control? that seems out of character. ]

Is he safe?

[mikangirl]

I think so. [She hesitates.] Sam spoke to him longer than I did, so he could probably tell you more. But from what I can see he's harmless. Just more...

[...god. How does she even describe it?]

More comfortable in his own body, I guess.

[He's not as stiff and formal, that's for sure.]

[flameandpassion]

[ it's not his body, rei wants to correct instantly, but this isn't a private feed. and so she holds her tongue. ]

[ tiredly.

she's not sure she has the energy for this. ]

[Sheeee actually doesn't know that about Cas.]

...and by raiding the kitchen, I mean he stuffed his face and then stuffed his pockets. Told me you couldn't take it for granted. It went beyond hungry, I think. [If that helps.]

rei pushes the hair out of her eyes, exhaling abruptly. she's already reeling from finding herself here, and this is just icing on the cake. still -- ]

I'll find him.

[ fml ]

He won't know me, but he's going to have to deal with it.

[She doesn't even try hiding that smirk. Rei descending on other!Cas and making him deal with it is an amusing thought, okay.]

I'll trust he's in good hands.

Seems to follow a lot of the same rules as Adstring, anyway.

If anyone tells you the only person who gets to go home is the one who wins the "ratings game", I wouldn't believe them. I've already had confirmation I'm home in my own timeline.

I believe it as much as I believed the Animus and their garbage -- I don't even believe the reality TV stupidity.

No. I won't believe that until I see some sign of an audience. [And even then, she'll doubt.] To be honest, I spend a lot of time wondering if we ever truly left Adstring at all.

[Animus hanging around in space doesn't strike her as any more far-fetched than a reality TV show.]

That thought crossed my mind, too.

[ with a slow exhalation of breath ]

But the energy here feels different... I can't really explain it, but I don't think we're in the same universe anymore.

...huh. I'll take your word for it. [No snark; it's on the level, tbh. If Rei thinks that, she's probably right.]

I guess I'll cross that theory off my list.

It's a good theory.

[ rei has to admit, she initially thought it when she first woke up here. ]

But I think we just wound up in another fishbowl of a prison.
