[ A blonde woman with glasses and her hair up in a ponytail appears on the screen. She squints momentarily and then brightens and waves genially ]

Hi, my name is Kara, and this is pretty exciting, huh? Being in space and stuff… It's really not an opportunity that people from Earth, of which I am one, get too often. I wonder, what's everyone's favorite part about being in space? I think mine is looking out into the expanse and wondering what else is out there and, like, what everyone calls the toast with the egg in the middle? Toad in a hole? Egg's nest? What if it's some really weird name like "cyclops wheat square"?

[ she laughs, snorting slightly ]

How strange would that be?

Anyway, let me know! I can't wait to hear!

[ she waves enthusiastically and turns off the video ]

Oh no, not long at all. And- well, okay, I am really excited to see new planets and stuff, but I'm not happy that I wasn't asked first. [that's his problem: the lack of consent] I'd kind of been in the middle of something important.

But hey, I'm here now, right? I have to make the best of it. [for a bunch of reasons] Plus, knowing that everyone else is in the same situation helps a lot, I think.

Everyone is? In the same situation I mean. Who brought us here, then?

Some people called the Atroma? There isn't a lot of information on that...or not a lot of information I have currently. From what I understand, all the ships you can see are captained and maintained entirely by people who've been picked up from their worlds the same way you and I have. Orders for supplies come in every so often and once in a while there's long-distance contact from some people who claim to be responsible, but it's sparse and unreliable.

The Marsiva, where everybody shows up, that's the only place that isn't run by us. But I couldn't see anybody living when I was on there, and they tend to shoo people off to other ships pretty fast.

Do you know why any of this is happening?

[Sorey laughs sheepishly.] Sorry. Someone mentioned something about a "TV show" but I have no idea what that's supposed to mean.

No? Because you don't know TV?

[monolike]

You know what it is? Is that something important? I mean, I get that a show is like a performance, but...

Yeah, a performance that a bunch of people can watch in their homes on a screen.

Then I guess that's what we're supposed to be doing...performing. [which is probably the weirdest thing ever. WHO KIDNAPS PEOPLE TO BE IN A PLAY???] I'm not sure why or what the big deal is with this play, but it's apparently important enough to them that they have to kidnap people for it.
