a year really flies by in the fleet, doesn't it? we've been attacked twice, we've seen everything from medieval villages to virtual-reality domes, and we've seen a lot of passengers come and go. the whole thing's really incredible. but i know i wouldn't trade this experience for anything, not with the people i've met and the things i've been able to do.

happy anniversary to me, i guess. from what i hear, there are way worse places to be stuck.

I can only imagine what it must be like after a year, considering the number of people who've come and gone in just the couple of months I've been here. ... has it really been a couple of months already...?

the last bit of the year kinda flew by here, what with the calibrations, and then i took a month-long nap which y'know
was useless
but yeah people have come and gone a lot
my ship's crew has almost completely turned around. i'm the longest-standing member at this point, which is one of the many reasons i'm best-suited for captain. then it's my brother, then finrod, and everyone else came after that.

Ah, is that what makes a qualification for captain? Well, I guess if it's not the only one...

actually, qualifications are that you apply. but i'm still the best choice for captain.

Oh, it's sort of a first come, first served deal? Anyway, I can hardly dispute that. I know next to nothing about ship captains save what I saw on movies or TV.

Considering Mal, I'm sure all you really need is to care about your ship's inhabitants. The engineering's no doubt a point in your favour.

i actually took over from being first mate after our last captains left. they were both really good friends of mine. being an engineer means more to me in a general sense, but caring for the crew like they did is important.

Sounds like you're part of a pretty great group, tbh. Is that what you did before, then? Some kind of engineering?

Wow. Sounds like you had everything you wanted to do pretty much sorted out.

... admittedly, I don't know much about superhero teams, either. Still, it sounds like you're a pretty important person in your own right.

Ah. Fashion styling, with a minor in fashion design.
It's in line with what I wanted to do, anyway. I didn't want to be stuck working in Chinese restaurants my whole life.
