[He comes awake slowly, almost peacefully. His dark eyes stay unfocused and close again, still relaxed and calm.

The second time they blink open, there's a bit more focus and they shift to look around him.

Then he freezes.

It's a fear reaction. It's the rabbit in the headlights, stay still, maybe you won't be noticed reaction. His eyes dart around to take in details, but then he relaxes when he realises he's alone.

His hands come up and feel along the zipper in his scalp, checking with ages old familiarity for any change. Apparently satisfied that everything is right, he lowers his hands down.]

Hello? Someone? Cain… ooh, flashy light, what's… oh! Are you a Far Speaker? Miniaturised far speaking technology, look at the clarity of the screen, that's a mirror quality image.

[The communicator is grabbed and starts being turned around in his hands. His clothing seems to have once been very fine, but is now torn and dirty. His pale skin is marked with small abrasions and the dirt of living rough.

He's also still chattering away quite happily to himself.]

I wonder what sort of broadcasting signal this is using, wireless magics don't get this small, usually, but if it were pre-Witch-

[He goes stiff with shock.]

Merciful light, the Witch! DG! Where am I, I need to get back, I have to- I have to-

[He blinks and his face relaxes, all the sharp panic gone.]

Ooh! Far Speaking technology! It's so small, how did they manage to get it that small?

That is something I would not have been surprised to hear, after the first time you told me ... [Tyrion murmured, his expression sympathetic.] This must be quite frustrating for you.

It would be more frustrating if I remembered more often, I think. I get frustrated, then I glitch and forget I was frustrated, so it's a little bit self solving.

Do you get to remember anything?

Sometimes! I know i was the Queen's Advisor! But what I remember now and what I'll remember later won't be the same. Not necessarily.

So ... you're not going to remember any of this in two to three minutes?

[Glitch gives a helpless shrug.]

Maybe? I remember DG and Cain and Raw at the moment. There was... something about stabilising conditions... or was that for growing aderiay fruit?

I don't know.

And if you think it's frustrating from that end, you should try it from this one.

[He hummed softly.]

DG, Cain and Raw. Sound like the names of friends, Glitch. Otherwise important people in your life.

So the only way to help you would be to either have your friends here or - in fact - get your brain itself back into order?

Yes. They're my friends. I haven't had friends since they took my marbles.

[He reaches up and touches his zip gently.]

Well, not back in order. Back. At all. It's somewhere else. Very inconvenient, that.

[A brief pause.]

[He has absolutely no idea how to create a brain but at least he knows that would help the man.]

Well. They took out my brain, and now most people chase me off and don't want to know me and I don't know who I knew before. Except the Queen. I knew her. I know I knew her.

I have a mind! I don't have all my brain. There's a difference.

[He nods firmly.]

... Well that is an important friend to have.

[Honestly Tyrion could use knowing more Queens, himself.]

I am not even sure how one can survive without one.

I don't know what happened to her. Or why I'm not with her.

I mean, I don't remember anything about me, remembering what happened to her is probably wishful thinking.

So ... really this is sort of a hopeless situation?

[Those words bring a change over Glitch. His so far relentless optimism and cheer fades, and something else there. Not despair. Not quite hurt.

[He blinks and suddenly smiles, bright and slightly unsure.]

Now? I'm a headcase, I mostly try not to starve or get beaten to death.

The O.Z. is in pretty dark times. Longcoats on the loose, suspicion everywhere, the fear steeps into the ground and air.

People usually think I'm a criminal. Nice ones will let me sleep in their sheds or barns.

[Read: He doesn't have a job. He doesn't have a home. He has literally nothing but the clothes he's wearing and a zip in his head.]

...Well, you'll be fed here, and housed here, as well people taking care of you, Glitch. [He was a madman, certainly, but Tyrion had known much crueler ones.]

[He looks up, eyes sharp and focused.]

I've survived several years headcased. I know that. I don't need looking after. Just... the facilities to look after myself and the occasional reminder.

[Now that was interesting ... sharp and focus in those dark eyes. Tyrion tilted his head to the side.]

... Very well, you have those. What else do you need?

[The sharpness softens at the recognition from Tyrion.]

I don't need it, but I could really go a nice, red apple.

That ... might be a little harder to procure, but I shall see what I can do. Fresh fruit is something of a luxury around here.

Naw, you don't have to do that for me! There's gotta be food around here somewhere, right?
