Hello, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for finding cooking ingredients. I'd like to make a cake, chocolate cake. There's an occasion coming up and I'd like to be able to share something special for it.

So any direction would be appreciated.

I was wondering if you'd want to go out with me, it's for my birthday this week. I thought since I am away from home maybe I could go with friends and so far that list is mostly you and Remus.

I can't expect anyone else to make it for me, hardly anyone here knows me very well. But still, I always wanted to have a big party when I turned 18. I just didn't think I would miss six months of my life getting there. It was only July back home.

But honestly, I don't even know how old I am anymore.

Thank you, but I think I can probably wait until May. It's just, I'm not really sure what age I was when I got to Aather, how much time really passed there, and if anything changed coming here.

It's weird to think about.

That is weird, no offense. I don't want to lose too much time. Or maybe I just want to know how long I've been here for when I get home.

Oh! Maybe that's something we can ask for. I noticed a date when I was filing manifests for the ships. It's a decent job while we're docked.

Maybe. I just think it'd be more complicated with me.

[Lily nodded, but it seemed unfortunate to have to wonder.] I think there is a lot about you that is complicated, by others anyway.

You got that right.

[ she pushes off of the doorframe ]

Is there anything I can help you with?

I was just straightening up a bit. But there are some jars over there that need to be put away. [She gestured with her elbow to a small collection of beaker and containers and the to a cabinet overhead.]

All right.

[ goes to put the jars away, letting the silence exist ]

I meant to thank you, again. For the tour when I first arrived.

It really wasn't that much.

It might not have been, but it did a lot more than show me around, it made me feel welcome.

[ That elicits a small smile, but she studiously keeps putting things away ]

Anyone should do that.

And you'd be surprised how many don't. [Flash backs to her first day on the Hogwarts express, and many times that followed.]

I hope I'll be able to do the same for someone else.

Maybe I should start a welcome to the fleet committee. Make up little gift baskets. [It was a joke, mostly.]

I think that might be a good idea... I know I forget to talk to people sometimes.

[ she could be joking or she... could not be. her dry tone makes it hard to tell sometimes ]

You...are really hard to read. No offense. It can be a good thing, I'm as transparent as a window I think sometimes.

You think so? I felt like at home, everyone knew what I was going to do before I did it. I'd be sorry about being hard to read if it wasn't kind of a relief.

There are people where I come from who can pull thoughts right out of your head. [She winced a bit, Occlumency was a powerful and dangerous, if sometimes necessary, magic. It frightened her because of what it tied into, dark magic, bending wills and corrupting minds. Things that were not far from the doorstep of witches and wizards outside of Hogwarts and looming closer everyday.]

I prefer not knowing to that, and this makes you mysterious. [She made a spooky waggle of fingers at her.]
