[ the first time nyssa al ghul misses their weekly appointment, sansa chalks it up to circumstance. something came up; she must be a busy woman, and cannot be in all places at all times. but then a second week goes by with no notice, and when sansa attempts to reach her on nyssa's frequency, all she gets is static. then, dead air.

it takes her a few days to talk herself into addressing the fleet at large, but reasons that should anything have happened to her friend -- well, someone ought to know. so a solemn-faced young woman with copper roots showing flickers onto the communications devices. ]

Nyssa al Ghul hasn't answered any messages -- not for some time, I don't think. [ she swallows. her mouth feels dry. like she can guess the reason already, but refuses to believe it. her words are suffused with worry and sadness. ] I-is she well? Has something happened to her? It might be the crew of the Red Fish have some knowledge of where she is. Please, has anyone spoken to her of late? Seen her?

[ today, she wears the gold bracelets and the intricate hair-pins nyssa once gifted to her. sansa tries to persuade herself she's not wearing them in memory of a lost friend. ]

[A quizzical look spreads across her face.]

Yeah, and so is every place I've been so far on this trip. It might be less dangerous in some areas. Just don't go to those alone if you can help it.

I think -- [ she inhales. ] I think I'll wait for an opportunity to go escorted. I don't care to go alone to any of its areas.

[ she rarely leaves her ship. ]

[There's a pause before Octavia nods. She doesn't really get it herself, but different worlds are a thing she needs to take into account.]

Just don't miss out. There are some areas with real trees and grass. And hey, if you need someone, just send me a message if you feel comfortable with that.

[ well, she is a pupil of nyssa's... ]

That's -- that's so kind of you. To offer. A-are you certain?

[Octavia laughs, shaking her head.] Yeah. I don't make offers I plan to back out of, but like I said, only if you're comfortable with it.

-- Mayhaps you might come for tea, first. [ as nyssa did. ] Do you like tea, my lady?

I've only it had it a couple times, and never at home. It's probably too soon to say, but sure. I'd like that.

[Her brow creases somewhat, at the manner of being addressed.]

Just Octavia, please.

[ -- the familiarity practiced by these people will never cease to confound her. gently: ] You're certain about this, as well?

[ she doesn't want to cause offense. ]

Very. [Her own pause takes place now, and her expression softens.]

If it's not uncomfortable for you.

[ oh.

somehow, the addition of such a caveat calms her. makes her a little more likely to be bold. sansa nods. ] Customs are so odd, here. But -- Octavia. That is such a beautiful name.

[There's an amused hum.]

Thanks. My brother named me. [That actually gets her to the next question.] What's yours?

Sansa. [ and then she tests her pride: ] of House Stark.

It's nice to meet you. [Octavia's smile is sincere, it is nice to meet her, and not only because she was friends with Nyssa as well.]

Yeah, so just let me know when a good time for tea is, okay? I'm looking forward to it.

Soon. [ ... ] I promise.

I'll wait to hear from you. [Octavia pauses, adding in one last thought.]
