[ The video starts, but it would be easy to assume at first that the young man featured in it was still asleep. He's got a grey beanie shoved over his eyes in a manner that was definitely intentional. But after a long moment, he groans and sits up, pulling the beanie up so he can see what he's doing. ]

...Ugh. Where...

[ He does notice the camera after a moment, and he freezes. It's with an entirely unhappy scowl that he turns away after a moment, looking around. ]

What the hell is this?

[ He didn't ask for this, and he definitely doesn't seem impressed to be the latest member of intergalactic reality television. ]

That's not a surprise. Hell, I'd be more surprised if the universe decided it was my day.

Then congratulations on keeping a semblance of normalcy in your life. The rest of it may be completely upside down though.

That wouldn't be a first, either. How upside-down are we talking here?

[ He shoves his hands into his pockets, considering her as he speaks. ]

Depends on what you're used to. Let's see, people from different times, worlds, and realities have been abducted to perform for a viewing audience they can't see while traveling along in spaceships.

We hit upside-down when you got to the performing part. We're stuck on reality television?

[ He does not look terribly thrilled with the notion. ]

Apparently so. [Though her world wasn't really full of it when television stopped being a thing so she can't go around saying people threw her under the bus or that she's not here to make friends.] At least that's the story.

You don't believe it?

[ He glances at her, his mouth thin but curiousity shining in his eyes. ]

I believe it enough. I don't necessarily take anything at face value. But until I have something better to work with I'll consider it the way of things.

That's a good way of looking at it.

[ He nods once in acknowledgement of her name. ]

It's true, but it sounds no less paranoid. [Smirking.] So, have you been in a place like this before? [Asking because many—herself included—had and he seemed on board with the people from other worlds thing.]

Not in outer space specifically, but—

[ He nods slightly. ]

This isn't the first time I've been away from home. I was in a place called Aather for a while.

I think I heard someone else mention that place. It was Marina for me.

Marina, huh?

[ He seems pretty unfazed by the concept of so many different places people could be taken away to. ]

So they take in people from all around, don't they?

[ There's a startled look on his face. ]

I guess that's why it was called Marina.

[ It sounds more than a little intimidating to him. ]
