[Rogue doesn't really like addressing the fleet at large, so she keeps it brief.]

Alright, folks, here it is - one of the best places we've been yet ta stock up. What's on your 'must bring back to the ship' list an' [more importantly, maybe] how are ya plannin' on storin' it?

[She's got her own list, but she knows the way these things usually go and she doesn't want to forget anything in case it winds up being a long, long dry spell before they hit another place this good.]

[Sooner or later, Rogue always falls into a routine. She's too well known in the fight circles now to make any real money, so she's taken to working as a chef/bartender at one of the middling-to-fancy restaurants. When not there, she is either 1) shopping (thank you, space gods, for a place that finally carries lipstick) 2) in the 'datary' checking out books to be 3) read in the garden. or jogging in the garden. Let's be honest, being around actual plantlife feels amazing after the desert planet, the frozen planet, and let's not forget -- space. Garden, reading, wine whiskey, chocolate, lipstick -- a good day. And then it was time to start it all over again.]



[By the time Rogue had given Kitty directions to where to meet, she'd had time to get... nervous about it. Which was dumb, but true. They'd talked fine enough over the communicator, why should meeting in person be any different?

In any event, Rogue hopes that Kitty will like the place. It was one of those middle level spots that she could easiest afford, and she's found a table that would let them both have their backs to the wall, let them both keep an eye on the door. She waits, gloved hands curled around her coffee.]

[ Thor in a library is a study in contrast. No facet of his nature suggests quiet and thoughtful patience needed to read or study. As a boy he liked war stories, biographies of kings, and fairy tales Frigga used to tell them when he and Loki were young enough not to matter. He has a stack of them now, trying to find out about the station and the universe around them, when he realises he's blocking someone's way. ]

[ Slowly, he steps back, slotting himself between the shelves so she can pass. ]

[Right. One. If they were the approximate size of a tree trunk. Two regular human-sized people could probably have done just fine, but Thor was... not.

And he obviously didn't remember her so.

And Loki would probably be back any day.

And she was. Just standing there. Staring at him like an idiot.]

[Ahahahahahaha, help. What does she even do right now? There was no clear path between keeping other people's secrets and blunting her way through which were her two normal modes of operation.]

Yup. [A little helplessly, a little ache, because that was just how Loki would introduce himself now too - only he was Loki Friggason, and screw Asgardian politics and attempting to be strategic right now, who was she kidding?] That's who ya remind me of.

[ He raises both eyebrows. ]

To my knowledge, we have not met before.

Yeah, I kinda figured that.

[Well, in for a penny, in for a pound. Rogue took a breath and extended a gloved hand.]

[ He shakes her hand, firmly. ]

[Rogue does not generally think of herself as a tiny person. She is not generally getting her hand engulfed by a giant person.

And she has legitimately no idea where to take this right now.]

That's hardly your fault, now. Just when did ya get here?

Wow, okay. [To mention Loki or not to mention Loki. On the one hand, it would be really, really important to find out just how ready to kill Loki Thor was at the moment; on the other hand, Loki wasn't around, so if Thor was feeling more brotherly brotherly rather than murderly brotherly, she'd be setting him off with no way to calm him down.]

[ You know, you're the strangest person he's ever met. ]

I dunno, six months, maybe? [Seven? Who kept track of these things? Rogue tends to measure her life by comings and goings, events and injuries rather than time.

And this was small talk. She was making small talk. With Thor.

This wasn't going to work, but what the heck was she going to do? She still wasn't sure.]

Anything you warn me about?

[ Okay, that is perhaps a prod at her. ]

[A flicker of a shadow, both yes and... no.]

I reckon that depends on who you are. All kinds of different versions of folks runnin' around here. Somethin' I might tell someone who I think has a vested interest is completely different than something I'd say to someone if I didn't think it was his concern.

Wait a minute -- [Rogue actually held out a gloved hand to stop him, though it fell short of actually touching his arm.] I didn't mean it like that. I meant -- I'm sorry, I know this is awkward. I'm not any good at this, really, I'm just tryin' ta keep what confidences are mine. There is somethin' I'd like ta tell you, but it's more -- personal in nature so it depends on who ya are, you see? Can ya tell me somethin' that'll give me a sense of what universe you're from?

[ He frowns. ]

That — there are many things I can say, and none may be what you seek. What do you wish to know?

[This was something Rogue had always appreciated about Thor -- he respected honesty and would give it in turn. He would be someone she could say 'I can't tell you that' to and have it be understood, and would be equally capable of telling her the same and expect a similar courtesy. She was more than prepared to deal with that, especially as the first thing that she would want to ask, the easiest thing to confirm, would be about the death of his mother.

But if he was shortly from after that, then the pain of it would still be strong in him, and that wasn't something Rogue wished to stir. So.]

Could you tell me some things from your recent history? Any major events that stand out as a marker, maybe?

[ He frowns. ]

There is a Dark Elf named Malekith who wishes to plunge the universe into darkness when the Nine Realms align. We are fighting him, at great cost.

[touchofrogue]

[Oh. Then. Yes.] I'm sorry.

[And she truly was. And so she decided she'd just tell Thor everything.] ...because, ya see, I've heard about Malekith once before, in the place where I was before this, from my boyfriend. [She rolls her eyes, makes an impatient gesture with one hand.] Although he prefers the term 'lover.' Loki. He told me -- everythin' that happened. And that's what I had to decide what I'd tell you, because he's with the fleet too.

[And she realizes, then how silly that is.] ...though now that I think about it, I'm sure ya probably heard that from the Avengers already.

[But she needed to know just what Thor's intentions towards Loki's were, for her own sake, before she even would tell him this much.]
