The Way to a Blue Fish's Heart...

Who: Blue Fish crew and visitors
Broadcast: Maybe some accidental, but not overall
Action: The Blue Fish kitchen
When: All Day, Feb. 7

[It had been a rough month for a lot of the Blue Fish crew. From blenders to family members and lost friends and blocked credits, they'd been soldiering on through a lot. And while Jilly was new enough to have skirted by most of the drama, she was keenly aware of the underlying stress of her crewmates. She wants to help.

Sometimes, though, words aren't enough...and so she sets about taking advantage of her augment to the best of her ability. For the past month she's been collecting recipes from the datary and experimenting with the supplies provided by the Atroma. And, in the days leading up to the 7th, she quietly recruits Beverly for a pair of extra hands with some Station grocery shopping and behind-the-scenes planning.

It's not announced, but on such a small ship it's hard to miss that something is going on that day. Forgoing her usual trip to the Station for job hunting and people watching, Jilly gets up extra early and sets the kitchen in motion. Recipes are taped up on the cabinets, ingredients are gathered, and so begins a marathon of food.]

[Between the combined forces of Jilly and Beverly, the two "cooks" for the Blue Fish will be setting out food all day as a bit of a much needed holiday for their crew (and any visitors who stop by). Volunteer as a taste-tester, grab food on the run, help clean dishes between baking bouts, or simply sit and relax with your crew mates. Food therapy is a go.]

Either you'll agree not to tell people or you won't; I'm not going to expect you to understand. It's just another 'preference'.

[ batshit quirks and obsessive privacy, here we go ]
honorbends: (ok sokka sure why not)

If you don't want people to know, then I won't tell them. I would've thought that was already understood.

[ with a slight roll of his eyes, as zuko picks up a cookie, breaking it in half, having devoured his cupcake already. ]

I was just curious.

... it isn't as if there's an interesting reason.

When I was young there were always people whispering about me, trying to pry into my affairs or learn more about me. Any time I gave in, thinking they'd be appeased, it'd make them talk even more. To me, about me... it didn't matter. I guess they needed a spectacle, but I started consciously hiding more after that.

[ ah. well. that makes sense, and some part of zuko knew that. sasuke being the village oddity.

and zuko considers that before taking a bite out of his cookie. ]

Your village needed better things to talk about.

[ not dismissively, necessarily, but accepting ]

... Aa, maybe. It's still probably better that it happened the way it did.

[ Somehow. Konoha hid a lot of its secrets; if people looked at him and said 'there's the last Uchiha' behind his back it was still preferable to 'there's the one only being kept alive because his brother made a deal with the elders'.

Memories of home.
]

Too many of them were just irritating girls wanting to know what they could cook for me anyway.

Wow, what a tragedy.

[ dryly, and zuko warms up his cookie, to make it gooey. firebending is a very ancient and serious artform passed down from generation to generation and is used in a totally respectable and responsible light. ]

I'm sure that was the biggest struggle you've ever endured.

[ zuko is 97% sure his childhood would've been a lot better if girls had annoyed him but you know ozai didn't let him have any friends ]
eyeforaneye: ({the me that you know...})

I don't only talk about the biggest struggles I've ever endured.

[ He eyes Zuko for a moment after that reaction, finding that it reminds him somewhat of how Naruto acted about it when it happened. Grouchy, jealous, wanting the attention for himself. He doesn't suspect Zuko of the latter two, but-- ]

I would've let you have them. They were just after a trophy anyway. [ That's his diagnosis since none of them knew anything about him or had any reason whatsoever to like him outside of looks, apparently. ]
honorbends: (yeah whatever sokka.)

[ are they talking about girls right now. things zuko didn't think he'd be talking with sasuke about in the near EVER ]

Maybe they liked your personality.

[ hahaha ]

Or your ability -- and I don't think any of the girls from your village were really my type, so you can keep them. That's your burden to bear.

[ what a terrible burden, with ino and sakura thinking you're great, how terrible ]

[ This is happening, strap in. ]

... my personality? That can't be possible. [ Yeah no, rejecting that one right out the gate. ]

And my abilities weren't something any of them really knew about. My family kept its secrets well, at least well enough to keep them being spread to a bunch of gossiping children. [ ... he's actually really thinking about it now. ]

No, it was probably just because I was mysterious to them and they knew my family was famous. You stood out as a prince; did women never seek you out just for that reason? I hope that kind of harpy wouldn't be your 'type' either.
