Who: Raylene Carter & the good folks of the SS Paisley
Broadcast: To SS Paisley
Action: SS Paisley
When: RIGHT NOW
Hallway
The SS Paisley was a little cramped, and a little crowded, but it was better than Tyson and that was what she held all her standards to. It allowed her to feel like something shitty wasn't actually that bad. As long as it wasn't Hillbilly Holler, it was good.
Well. Almost.
Ray was finding the hallways a bit of an issue, whenever folks needed to get through it - if they had more than just their own body it meant someone had to duck into a room. At least sticking to the walls meant foot traffic could single file their way down. But forget it if there was more than just two people though.
Ray wasn't interested in getting closer than she needed to to someone else, so she pressed her back up against the wall when she saw someone else approaching and gestured back the way she came.
"Go ahead."
Bunk Problems - Broadcast to Paisley Crew
Ray doesn't know how to tell everyone to come to the same part of the ship. She also doesn't know how to convince anyone to give her her own bunk.
So she'll just. Say it. Through a video. Because that's easier than tracking everyone down and herding them like cats.
"I'm not sleeping on the floor."
There. Do with that what you will Paisley crew.
Armory
Ray doesn't think much of it when she heads into the armory one day. About the knowledge that's now in her head and muscles. She goes through the inventory admiring the guns, and figures she might as well clean and dismantle them to get used to it and be useful.
She takes one one of the automatic weapons down from it's place on the wall and is... a little startled at the speed with which she managed it.
"Didn't think Pinky's lessons would help that much...," she murmured to herself before straightening out the pieces on the work surface.
Time to look for something to clean it with.
Kitchen
No more pb&j. Ever again. She had enough of that on the Marsiva. But getting used to this 'flavoring' business was really... weird.
She'd been sticking to mixing chicken flavor with other suitable things just to make it taste less fake, but eventually she had gotten a little more creative out of need for variety.
Still. 'Unflavored'?
Ray looks towards the closest person and sneers in an aside, "So what the hell does 'unflavored' taste like?"
She's brave - but there's no way she's trying it first.

You don't have to.
[Mildly said, as the twenty-one year old comes into the kitchen area. He's scarred and tired-looking, but not half as bad as he used to be.]
I'll share with James, if you'd like. As you're new and all. A please would be nice, though.
I'm so sorry Remus
There's a catch. There has to be.]
Seriously?
[If she sounds dubious that's because she is. Extremely. Clearly this guy wants something in return right?]
she's nicer than loki or theon ok
Kidnapping is ordeal is enough. It seems cruel to push you into sleeping on the floor as well. Besides, they'll expand the ship soon enough. They usually do. Though-- and I can't emphasize this enough-- please don't just bark out what you want. We're all more than willing to help; we're all in the same position.
sad standards
he mentions barking.
She can't help but laugh. It's surprised out of her in a yelp and she swallows it down in a smile, like he told her an inappropriate joke.]
Alright. No barking.

For now, he offers a hand.]
Remus Lupin.
[Werewolf McWerwolf, at your service.]

The least she could do was return the courtesy. Until proven otherwise she'd have to treat everyone like she treated Pinky. Or...
no not like him. Never like Hector.
She shakes it firmly, but snatches her hand back quickly like a child being dared to touch something gross.]
Raylene Carter.

[ Video — Bunk Problems ] [ + bonus other options ]
I can find a corner of floor somewhere to sleep.
[ Hell, he'd lived in an alley for two years. This was probably cleaner, at least. ]
[ Med Baby / Science Lab ]
Let's see if there's anything that I—
[ Shinjiro moves around the room with an assurance that would tend to indicate that he knows what he's doing in this place, if nowhere else. He's takin stock of everything in here, moving things neatly so as to not mess up whatever system of organization the other Lab Support officer may have going on in here. ]
[ Hallway ]
[ For his part, Shinjiro seems to have decided to explore the layout of his new living quarters. He's checking out each room that doesn't seem to be a bedroom, at the very least glancing through the door and getting an idea of what it is before he moves on. He doesn't actually greet anyone, he just shuffles by them, his shoulders slightly hunched and his hands tucked into a red pea coat. ]
[ Kitchen ]
[ Shinjiro drags a hand over his face as he looks at the different gel texture options available. ]
And here I thought Aather was bad... At least they had real food.
[ Honestly, how the hell is he supposed to cook without any food options? The kitchen, cooking... it had been one of the few sources of pleasure he'd allowed himself to indulge in. ]
Video
Re: Video
Well, at least that solves the issue, then.
[ He can't say he's not relieved, at least. Beds are more comfortable. ]
no subject
Thanks for the offer though.
[See? Nice.]

It's not a problem.
[ Well, she's doing perfectly fine by his standards. ]

med bay!
He'd left to make himself a cup of tea, which he holds carefully as he glances over at the other guy. The Paisley's Med Bay is impeccably clean, well-stocked with medicine as well as herbal remedies & cures from various planets, (they could probably survive an apocalypse) and with a small desk that's got dozens of papers in a neat file. Stefan's used to the space, and it more than shows.]
You looking for something?

[ Shinjiro glances up from the pill bottle he'd been looking at. ]
I'm checking out what's available. [ Shinjiro pauses briefly. ] You the guy in charge of this place?
no subject
You're my new crewmate, right?
no subject
[ He pauses, clearing his throat. ]
I'm Shinjiro.

So, okay. Attempting normal human communication again.]
I tried it once. It's not recommended.
no worries~
though that margin isn't exactly hard to beat. She purses her lips in consideration before going for the tried and tested teriyaki flavor.]On a scale of one to 'hell no', where would you put it?

[If she's gonna be in space, might as well be more adventurous than 'unflavored'.]

This must be one of the new girls. Joy. While he's trying not to act like she's an intruder on his space, he's kind of irritated at the overcapacity problem.
"You're one of the new crewmates, aren't you?"
no subject
Well as long as she has that to look forward too... might as well stick with teriyaki then, but at least she can guess instead of wondering.
If she's picking up on the mild hostility from Stefan she doesn't seem to care. That is, if she's picking up on it. As it is she simply smiles at his question. Playing dumb is her super power.
"What gave me away?"
no subject
He's grumpy, sure, but he also knows he has to live with her, so... he's not gonna openly be a jerk.
"I'm Stefan, by the way. Lab support and your first mate, so if you ever have serious questions about this place, you should direct them to me."
no subject
She did find confetti there though. Ugh.
"And I thought glitter was bad."
Pinky used to have sometimes wear it for shoots and it always got everywhere.
"Ray. Uh...security? I guess?"
no subject
Not like he needs a lot of it as it is.
"Awesome. We've needed a security person for forever." He reaches out for a handshake. "We don't run into trouble a lot but when we do, weapons would help."
