[ The video feed turns on to show a red-headed teenage girl just kind of. Sitting up in one of the hospitality deck cots. Her eyes are open, but she's not moving at all. Even breathing, if you're observant enough to notice that sort of thing.

That's because she's still in the process of booting up. A robot like Penny isn't meant to be hard shut-down unless she's getting tuned up, so the process takes a bit. The self-diagnostics don't know what's going on - how is the body fine when it clearly shouldn't be?

Still, after a few moments she does come online.

That's when she seems to snap awake, her eyes widening. ] What- [ She scrambles backwards, falling off of the cot, dragging the sheets with her. She lands with an audible THUD that might suggest she's heavier than her size would indicate.

Eloquent first impression.

Penny peeks up from behind the cot, glancing around, a confused expression on her face. Her databanks don't know where this place is, nor can it even place the architecture. And her sensors pick up SPACE from behind those windows to the side. ] Where is this? [ She's been repaired, but by who? And... HOW? And brought here...?

Is she....? No, this is far too real.

Penny picks herself up, taking another look around. ]

Hello? Is anybody there?

[Blake does not like using the video function. Having her face posted all over the network is very uncomfortable, for a lot of reasons.

But, well... With someone from her world, who knows her, but maybe not well enough to recognize her by voice? She'll put up with it for a bit.]

Penny? They brought you here now, too?

[Her weird behavior doesn't even raise an eyebrow at this point- Blake's already figured she's never going to understand how Penny's mind works.]

[ Penny perks up at that voice, and Blake's face appearing on one of the nearby monitors. Somebody she knew! She wasn't all alone up here. ] Blake!

[ ...Somebody who might not have been watching her match, but would surely have heard about it. ]

[ But if this was some repair facility, why was Blake here? And unaware of her being there on top of that? Something doesn't compute. ]

....Where is "here?"

You're on a ship called the "Marsiva", brought here by an unknown entity or entities called the "Atroma", for the purpose of being on a reality TV show.

[the distaste in her voice is strong.]

You've noticed by now that we're in space, I assume.

Oh, yes, I did notice that. It's very impressive. But I'm not sure why somebody would bother bringing us to space.

[ She is. Tapping on the monitor of the communication station now. Very solid. Huh. Not like a scroll at all... even though it is. ]

This "Atroma" must have very good technology. They were able to bring us to space, conduct seamless repairs.... but then this scroll is rather old-fashioned.

[She has to take a moment to try to follow Penny's train of thought.]

They do. Teleportation is something they're very good at. At some point, you'll be moved to a different ship with the rest of us.

What repairs? Did something happen to your scroll?

[ Okay, that question makes Penny frown. She doesn't want to... think on that. ]

No. On...

...Me.

After my last match, I was.... torn apart. Rather thoroughly. Were you not aware?

[... What. Blake's eyes widen, and she has to stop to take a good look at Penny. Normally, she'd just chalk it up to the girl's strangeness, but... There's something in that expression that makes her stop. Something is very wrong.]

I... wasn't. Yang and I have been here since our team's match against Team FNKI in the doubles round. I assumed the tournament would have been delayed with a couple of students going missing...

What do you mean, torn apart?

[ Okay, now THAT isn't right. Before was a mild inconsistency, but this one is sending up several red flags. ]

That doesn't make sense. The doubles round has been over. And Yang has already competed in the singles round. She has most definitely not gone missing, and I'm quite certain I would have heard if you had as well.

[ She might be ignoring Blake's actual question since this is more concerning. ]

... Weiss was here, too. We were told about that part, because she came and left before we ever saw her. And we never noticed her missing, back at Beacon.

Something strange is going on, but that can wait for right now. Are you all right?

[ Okay, no dancing around this answer. ] Yes! Everything is - [ "in working order" she was about to say, but stops herself ] - peachy. [ Peachy. Perfect, Penny. ]

Which is rather nice of our abductors.

Can you tell me what happened?

[She's not going to call any abductors 'nice'. And she has no idea what's going on with Penny right now, anyway.]

[ Penny is silent for a moment. She doesn't really want to think about that. She's a robot - when she recalls it, it's in vivid high definition.

But she doesn't see any reason to hold it back, either. ]

I was... paired against Pyrrha Nikos in the singles round. You know her, yes?

Were you aware that her semblance is magnetism?

[At this point, Blake can't help but have a dramatic flashback to the food fight, wherein Pyrrha took her out by throwing an endless stream of explosive soda cans at her.

She still side-eyes those vending machines whenever she walks past them, after that.]

I was, yes. She's a very strong opponent, but I didn't think she was the type to tear someone apart.

[She's assuming it's metaphorical, then. A sound defeat, which... makes sense. Blake knows just how untouchable Pyrrha seems to be.]

[ He's about to say something and then bam, there she goes off the bed. He waits. ]

Nice landing.

[ Elecman, no. ]

And you are aware that I control my swords through wires?

At the end of the match, Pyrrha used her semblance to push my swords away. My wires, they wrapped around me...

[ As she replays this part in her head, she clutches her left arm with her right, and her midsection with her left.

It's not that it was "fresh" in her memories. She would always remember it this vividly. Whether it had been moments ago or years.

Penny stops. ]

[ More quietly. ]

I think I'm done talking about this. [ Penny has a limit, this is it. ]

[ Penny doesn't get his sarcasm. ] Thank you? [ She doesn't know why it's deserving compliment, though.

She is getting up to examine the video feed from the monitor now. ]

What are you? [ No beating around the bush here, nope. ]

[ It's a kind of absentminded remark, anyway. ]

Wow, someone who actually asks straight off what I am. That's new. [ It's refreshing, in a way. Most people tend to leave it for a while.

Since he's perfectly comfortable with who he is, whether people dance around the subject or not is their business. ]

I'm an artificial intelligence, but since I can't really conduct normal ship tasks with no physical body, I got given one when I got here.

And you? You look human. [ But then again, so does he, in the right form. ]

[ Whoa. Wow. WOW! Woooow! Another AI! Another robot! That's amazing!

Penny is immediately super excited, and also super obvious about it. Giant grin, practically bouncing in place.

Still, she doesn't answer immediately. Is it okay to tell somebody the truth if that somebody is ALSO a robot? Possibly? What could it hurt?

That's about as far as she gets. ]

I am too! But for me it's supposed to be secret.

[ ....She also doesn't know that these network posts are. Public.

Penny: Greatest keeper of secrets. ]

[ Her enthusiasm is kind of refreshing. It's different when it's coming from another artificial being. He smiles despite himself, a bit soft. ]

A secret? [ Well.... ]

Well, I've got bad news and good news - this is a public post that anyone can read, which is the bad. But the good news is that nobody cares if you're a robot, so you'll do fine.
