Who: Howard Stark and YOU (I'm sorry)
Broadcast: Video Transmission, Fleet-wide.
Action: The Marsiva
When: Now
[ howard begins by painstakingly peeling himself up off the surface of the deck. this is a familiar position for him so he's not overly worried, smoothing back his hair as he rises unsteadily to his feet. he blinks heavily a few times, expecting his eyes to be heavy and for the customary knock in his head to follow. nothing happens. he feels remarkably alert, actually. wait a second...
the hairs on the back of his neck raise up, triggered by that eerie feeling of being watched. ] If this is a ransom demand, you're going to be sorely disappointed. [ it's not directed at anyone, scarcely above a mumble, he doesn't know anyone can hear him yet. howard steps towards the viewing ports, sticking his hands in his pockets and wondering what form of trickery this could possibly be. very advanced and very clever, surely, but just as frustrating. ]
I must admit, I'm impressed with your holographic technology. I could almost believe I were really in space... if we weren't at least a few decades off from such an advancement anyway. [ unless, they aren't. that disquiets him, smugness dropping from his tone as he continues to look around, but his voice only grows smaller. ] ...Hello?

Hot damn. She sounds like one sweet lady. [ he could hear more tbh. this is calming him down, go figure. ]

[ Someone who appropriately appreciate his lovely lady! It's so refreshing, and he does love talking about her. She's his home, more than anywhere else, and it calms him down too. ]
She's been through a lot, but she's better than ever now. Good thing too since I was supposed to be going on a five year mission out into unexplored space.

To discover what else is out there in the universe of course. What new planets and people we can come across and form relationships with - expanding our horizons, literally.
[ Well he gets to move around. A lot. Exploring a new planet is such a rush, Howard. Where's your sense of adventure? ]

More or less, though I think that worries some of the brass back at HQ.
[ He sounds kind of proud of that one, Howard. ]
I can't say that I'm pleased about it, even if this situation is introducing me to many more representatives of worlds than I think I could visit in just five years. It's an opportunity even as it's a violation, which feels... Odd to say the least.
But I think anyone would be confused and upset finding themselves transported onto a strange ship and operated on without their consent.

Yeah... tell me about it.

[ He has to laugh softly at that. Yes, someone who understands! Though, all right, they have some reason considering the Enterprise has been half way to destroyed twice under his command, but he's out of that phase of his life, really.. ]
I've only been here about a week, so I can't say much to it, but at the least I haven't been mistreated beyond the initial kidnapping. It's not ideal, but it could be worse - the people are pretty great all told.
So - you some kind of military man, back where you're from?
[ Get his mind off the situation for a moment. ]

[ What is with some people being all shady about where they come from? Kara did that weird thing too, but Howard, at least, seemed like a better liar than Kara. She was just to precious to do it well. ]
I wouldn't worry to much - I'm sure no one here will count it against you. Speaking of friends though - have you been contacted by any of yours that might be here? I can check rosters for you if you haven't, see if there are any.

[ so he can accost him as soon as he's able iirc. ]
no subject
Yeah, sure, hold on.
[ There's a pause and he frowns, cocking his head. ]
Huh, I see two registered... Guess it might be a common name. You can try contacting both, maybe one is the one you're looking for.
[ He sends over a private text with the names and their registered ships. ]

Hey thanks, bud. You're a real stand-up guy.

[ His smile at that compliment is so genuine it almost hurts. Howard might not know it, but Kirk strived to be the stand up guy, the good man. It was a promise he had made to himself, especially since Pike's death and his own resurrection. Seemed like he was doing okay at it. ]
Being brought here is jarring enough, so I figure I should just try and help where I can.
