002. ( video/action )
Who: Hawke & you!
Broadcast: Fleetwide.
Action: SS Caprine.
When: Now.
[ For some mysterious reason Hawke has seated herself in the one of Caprine's halls, legs crossed with a small cleaning droid in her lap. Oddly accepting to it's capture by scraps of paper torn up and dropped for it to clean up. Adorable little thing, even with it's lack of fur and slobbery demeanor.
She flicks on her video feed just in time to catch a particularly high pitched noise from the droid, whirring as some of Hawke's on purpose littering flutters off some distance from her spot. Without missing a beat the droid escapes her lap to clean up before continuing it's scheduled patrol. ]
Hawke here, today I have another question for the Fleet... [ What will it be this time? She already knows where the bars are. ] Say you were missing a large slobbery companion of the canine variety─ missing him so much it is as though your heart was breaking apart every moment your companion was not present to dig holes or scare the life out of unsuspecting thieves ─how would you go about retrieving said slobbery companion? Or am I doomed to be without him for the rest of my natural life?
[ Don't break her heart further guys. ]

Oh! You're missing a furball as well?
[SHE FEELS FOR YOU, HAWKE.]
video
I am! My loyal mabari is so far from me now, hopefully bothering my uncle and scaring guardsmen. [ Look how sad she is. ] But oh, I miss him so.
video
[Says the lady that's been sleeping in her ship's galley.]

[ And a lot dustier. ]

I have never felt so keenly for another's plight as I do in this moment. Atroma are absolute monsters for separating us from our dogs. [Though she's being overly dramatic on purpose, there's a ferocity to her words as well, for it's the sincere truth. Because, really, who separates a Fereldan from their mabari?] What is your slobbering friend's name?

( Lydia has dogs of the non-slobbery variety, okay. But she does miss them )
no subject
[The name prompts a raise of her brow.]
What a chain of events that must have been. Well, at least there's no mistaking what he is...? [You know, as mabari are often mistaken for cats.]
video;
[ He knows it's not the same, but what else can you do? ]
...just make sure it doesn't try to dig on any of the ships.

[ Mabaris for life man, for life. ]

Your Majesty, [ Hard to forget him though his visit to Kirkwall was a brief one. ] I can't replace my dog he is a mabari.
no subject
[ It's hard to tell if she is joking or not, or whether that story may or may not have been a thinly veiled threat.
With a smile she laughs and shakes her head. ]
Not really, it was more that none of us could agree on a name for so long he'd only answer to Dog.

...are we talking fall of the figurative or literal sort?
[She had to ask, ok]
Ahhh, that'll do it. Poor creature, although I doubt he cares much.
So, you left a best friend behind too, huh? If anyone has any good answers, I'd definitely appreciate if you shared them.

Okay, first, please don't call me that. [ He didn't even know this woman was from Thedas, sheesh, they're hiding around every corner! ] And second, that's not what I meant! Of course you can't replace your dog, but what's the harm in making friends with another?
video;
[They're cleaning tools, right!? You could totally get them to slobber. Sort of.]
[voice]
I think your dog would have a hard time digging holes here. [Someone's cheery today, he's upped his snark game.] But I would like to know if there's a way to retrieve them as well. [Seeing as he left Ghost in a small predicament, welp.]
Video
[Which ... frankly gave him some ideas, right there, but he isn't sure that Atroma would let him purchase wolves and dragons.]
action;
vacuum cleanercleaning droid, round one!]Hey, Cloudy, c'mon! [Joseph crouches down and picks her up for a moment before she can start putting teeth marks in it, scooting the droid further along with his foot.]You see those all the time. You gotta get used to 'em eventually.
[He sets her back down, keeping himself between her and following after the droid. Cloudy, of course, bounces from one side to the other trying to figure out how to get past Joseph. It's not going well, but if her tail is any indication, she doesn't mind. This is a new game to play!]

( In Asgard. Because war. Why not )
I usually don't need a war dog, though. My dogs are smaller.
( And drier )
no subject
Oh, it was quite literal. [ A beat. ] Figuratively.
[ Now she is just messing with you know a little, Riona, don't worry about it too much. ]
As long as he gets to chase guardsmen around and eat the finest meat he doesn't care at all. Dog is a spoiled mabari.

[ At least hers is. ]
Small can be good, and adorable.
no subject
There... well there isn't a problem, not really. [ She could try to befriend another dog. ] It won't be the same.
no subject
[ No titles, please. ]
But, I understand. I mean, the fact of the matter is, we're far from home. Far from... everything that's familiar.
no subject
Can't hurt to try, can it? At worst I will remain heartbroken until my days are up.
no subject
[ That clearly explains everything, doesn't it? No, not really. She tired, that should net her something. ]
The mud, the cold, the distinct smell of wed dog in the afternoon. You don't get much of that in space, no clouds or long stretches of dirt plains.
no subject
Tragically, yes, long before I came here. [ Might just be cranking the dramatics up a little now. ] I had too, for his own good, my poor poor friend.
no subject
You know, that might just be a good idea. [ Except she isn't thinking of reprogramming it to be a dog... ]
no subject
[Very, very rarely in his case, but eh.]
Do you know how?
no subject
You clearly haven't met my mabari. [ Don't you doubt the almighty prowess of Dog, he is stronger than you might think! ] Ah, I see I am not alone in my grief. If I find out anything of value, I'll be sure to let you know.
no subject
[ The thought does stick, however, nestling itself into her mind tight enough to come back later. ]
no subject
[ She can no longer count how many good, and bad, ideas have sprouted after a night of drinking and wicked grace. ]
Not exactly, no. [ Reaching around she taps her implant lightly. ] It might be beyond my ability to keep things from breaking apart. [ Ironic, that. ]
no subject
[Hello we have only just met but please let me play with your robot.]
no subject
A Fereldan in Kirkwall? Did you run from the Blight?
I mean, I never thought I'd actually miss the mud, but I do. There's too much metal here. And darkness. I miss the sun.
no subject
Every mabari deserves to be spoiled. But chasing guardsmen? [Oh, that's giving her terrible, terrible ideas, and it shows in her grin.] I will have to remember that. And damn, I should have brought him with me to Amaranthine. He could chase the Wardens around.
[WHY DIDN'T SHE THINK OF THIS?]

no subject
That's...unfortunate. I'm concerned that mine won't last without me. He was old. He had a leaky eye. But I love him anyway. Funny how things work, huh?
[A pause.]
Well, if you need some company. I do make a good shoulder and I do know a good place to get a drink.
no subject
Nah, can't hurt. And they might decide a pet is easier to give you than a weapon. [One's considered dangerous and the other is good for ratings, probably.]
no subject
( They sound like some puppies she already knows )
Do you catch a lot of thieves?
no subject
It seems as if you're hardly alone in your grief over your dog, anyway. [A huff.] Thank you, though. When I left, my wolf was--it wasn't the best of places to leave him. [Would Ghost know if he died? Would he react as badly as Grey Wind was said to have? Would he be safe, or--Jon doesn't even want to think about it.]
