002. ( video/action )

Who: Hawke & you!
Broadcast: Fleetwide.
Action: SS Caprine.
When: Now.

[ For some mysterious reason Hawke has seated herself in the one of Caprine's halls, legs crossed with a small cleaning droid in her lap. Oddly accepting to it's capture by scraps of paper torn up and dropped for it to clean up. Adorable little thing, even with it's lack of fur and slobbery demeanor.

She flicks on her video feed just in time to catch a particularly high pitched noise from the droid, whirring as some of Hawke's on purpose littering flutters off some distance from her spot. Without missing a beat the droid escapes her lap to clean up before continuing it's scheduled patrol. ]

Hawke here, today I have another question for the Fleet... [ What will it be this time? She already knows where the bars are. ] Say you were missing a large slobbery companion of the canine variety─ missing him so much it is as though your heart was breaking apart every moment your companion was not present to dig holes or scare the life out of unsuspecting thieves ─how would you go about retrieving said slobbery companion? Or am I doomed to be without him for the rest of my natural life?

[ Don't break her heart further guys. ]

[The talk of canines has pinged this lady of dog country. Especially since she's honestly been wondering the same thing as Hawke.]

Oh! You're missing a furball as well?

[SHE FEELS FOR YOU, HAWKE.]

[And she's got a mabari, too! Oh, Hawke. You just got like, twenty friendship points.]

I have never felt so keenly for another's plight as I do in this moment. Atroma are absolute monsters for separating us from our dogs. [Though she's being overly dramatic on purpose, there's a ferocity to her words as well, for it's the sincere truth. Because, really, who separates a Fereldan from their mabari?] What is your slobbering friend's name?
bryces_pup: (1)

[personal profile] bryces_pup 2016-02-10 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's poorly understood outside of Ferelden. At least you weren't in Orlais. Those snots seem to think it a laughing matter.

[The name prompts a raise of her brow.]

What a chain of events that must have been. Well, at least there's no mistaking what he is...? [You know, as mabari are often mistaken for cats.]

[So, there are things you ask about. And then there are things better left as a mystery. Riona's got a hunch that bit with the Duke falls under the latter category, but oh, curiosity's a tit.]

...are we talking fall of the figurative or literal sort?

[She had to ask, ok]

Ahhh, that'll do it. Poor creature, although I doubt he cares much.

[personal profile] bryces_pup 2016-02-17 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ha. Right. She'll nod with a laugh and leave it at that. As long as it wasn't a Fereldan noble she doesn't care all too much.]

Every mabari deserves to be spoiled. But chasing guardsmen? [Oh, that's giving her terrible, terrible ideas, and it shows in her grin.] I will have to remember that. And damn, I should have brought him with me to Amaranthine. He could chase the Wardens around.

[WHY DIDN'T SHE THINK OF THIS?]

Would a dog do well on the fleet? It's a little crowded as it is.

[Says the lady that's been sleeping in her ship's galley.]

Sounds like fun. I'd always thought that one day I'd like a loyal hound of my own.

Do they have to be slobbery?

( Lydia has dogs of the non-slobbery variety, okay. But she does miss them )

That sounds like I could have used some before.

( In Asgard. Because war. Why not )

I usually don't need a war dog, though. My dogs are smaller.

( And drier )

Even better in a pack.

( They sound like some puppies she already knows )

Do you catch a lot of thieves?

You could... try to find another dog somewhere?

[ He knows it's not the same, but what else can you do? ]

...just make sure it doesn't try to dig on any of the ships.
theirinurpants: (012)

[personal profile] theirinurpants 2016-02-11 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ See that is not what he meant. ]

Okay, first, please don't call me that. [ He didn't even know this woman was from Thedas, sheesh, they're hiding around every corner! ] And second, that's not what I meant! Of course you can't replace your dog, but what's the harm in making friends with another?
theirinurpants: (009)

[personal profile] theirinurpants 2016-02-17 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Um, Alistair? Just Alistair is fine, really.

[ No titles, please. ]

But, I understand. I mean, the fact of the matter is, we're far from home. Far from... everything that's familiar.
theirinurpants: (012)

[personal profile] theirinurpants 2016-02-17 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Yeah, nope, no recognition here. ]

A Fereldan in Kirkwall? Did you run from the Blight?

I mean, I never thought I'd actually miss the mud, but I do. There's too much metal here. And darkness. I miss the sun.
namisan: (I'm probably lying)

[personal profile] namisan 2016-02-11 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't give it much weight, so don't get your hopes up, but there're forms you can fill out requesting things from home. You can find them on your ship computers.
namisan: (hah...yeah)

[personal profile] namisan 2016-02-19 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[She feels you there. The computers were giving her a headache until she fobbed it off to a helpful crewmate.]

Nah, can't hurt. And they might decide a pet is easier to give you than a weapon. [One's considered dangerous and the other is good for ratings, probably.]

[Oh. A girl who likes dogs. He totally knows what to do with this. So have his best, 'I understand' expression.]

So, you left a best friend behind too, huh? If anyone has any good answers, I'd definitely appreciate if you shared them.

[What a couple of actors.]

That's...unfortunate. I'm concerned that mine won't last without me. He was old. He had a leaky eye. But I love him anyway. Funny how things work, huh?

[A pause.]

Well, if you need some company. I do make a good shoulder and I do know a good place to get a drink.

If you're really desperate, there's always reprogramming the robot.

[They're cleaning tools, right!? You could totally get them to slobber. Sort of.]
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (of course you can you're amazing)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-02-17 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Those've been known to happen.

[Very, very rarely in his case, but eh.]

Do you know how?
huaaaaagh: <user name=fontech> (i can smell it from here...)

[personal profile] huaaaaagh 2016-02-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a fair bit about robotics and programming. If you ever feel like messing around with it, I'd love to give it a shot.

[Hello we have only just met but please let me play with your robot.]

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-02-11 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dogs? Dogs. Or in this case, direwolves.]

I think your dog would have a hard time digging holes here. [Someone's cheery today, he's upped his snark game.] But I would like to know if there's a way to retrieve them as well. [Seeing as he left Ghost in a small predicament, welp.]
nedstarksbastard: (got me feeling like a nothing)

[personal profile] nedstarksbastard 2016-02-20 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Your--mabari. [That's definitely not a dog breed he's ever encountered, but he'll roll with it.] Well, now one day I hope to, if he's as strong as you say.

It seems as if you're hardly alone in your grief over your dog, anyway. [A huff.] Thank you, though. When I left, my wolf was--it wasn't the best of places to leave him. [Would Ghost know if he died? Would he react as badly as Grey Wind was said to have? Would he be safe, or--Jon doesn't even want to think about it.]

One could assume you could ask Atroma for the lovable beast.

[Which ... frankly gave him some ideas, right there, but he isn't sure that Atroma would let him purchase wolves and dragons.]
tallasaking: (Shocked I tell you)

[personal profile] tallasaking 2016-02-19 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hah! Well, you could always try finding a new animal and bringing it aboard once we come to a planet, or get one from here. As far as I know there is no rule about pets.

[So, if he were to be asked, Joseph would probably deny seeing her broadcast and pretend like he just so happened to need to head down the hallway...because...because he has to. Look, he's not a very adept liar despite being able to 100% bullshit his way through a fight. This is different. And absolutely not the point. The point is that he's not actually the first person coming down the hall. The first person coming down the hall happens to be about 2-3 months old, white, and what can only be described as a cotton ball. It's Cloudy! And she is Very Happy To Be Here! She comes scampering down the hall towards Hawke. Except that is a droid and it is making a whirring noise. Cloudy vs. vacuum cleaner cleaning droid, round one!]

Hey, Cloudy, c'mon! [Joseph crouches down and picks her up for a moment before she can start putting teeth marks in it, scooting the droid further along with his foot.]You see those all the time. You gotta get used to 'em eventually.

[He sets her back down, keeping himself between her and following after the droid. Cloudy, of course, bounces from one side to the other trying to figure out how to get past Joseph. It's not going well, but if her tail is any indication, she doesn't mind. This is a new game to play!]
