MEANWHILE...

[He's a Canadian Bub and he just woke up on the Marsiva. With all the shit that he'd been dealing with lately trying to track down Romulus and deal with his demented son, he might have handled this whole being in space thing a whole lot worse. Instead the feed opens with Logan standing in front of the viewing bay with his hands in his pockets and a less than pleased expression written in his features.]

Damn. Space again.

[It wasn't like he went into space all the time, but he didn't especially enjoy it. He could be seen tapping the glass gently with the business end of one metal claw protruding from his wrist. Well, he sure as hell hoped there was someone around who was a better pilot in zero atmosphere than he was. Besides, at least he couldn't see Galactus out there.

Later when the feed cuts off, Logan will try getting past the visitor's area of the Marsiva by trying to cut a path through one of the walls with his claws. Unfortunately besides making some very unpleasant sounds, he doesn't seem to succeed in cutting his way through. Too bad.]

Ahh, ya a tailor as well as an X-Man 'nd alcoholic, color me surprised. Ya just so talented, no wonder this show picked ya up. [Was it smart to prod the Wolverine? Maybe not, but Remy was never smart in that regards, too caught up on trying to get a reaction from someone than if he really should be doing or saying something.] But ya know what, I might leave that to someone who be less 'nterested on drawin' blood. It may be just me, but blood does tend to stain 'nd ruin the look, short of us gettin' sent to some sort of horror based planet, 'nd in that case, 'll give ya a call.

[He snorts in amusement.]

Different 'verse an' ya still talk too much. [But hell, he enjoys the snark. Better than having to deal with Scott and the gaping hole where his personality should be.]

Short of some weird 'niverse where I get my mouth sewed shut or lose m' vocal cords, think it safe to 'ssume that a given, hein?

Which ain't an offer, by the way. [In case he was thinking that...]

Maybe not, but it sure is sweet of you to say it. [It gets him right down in the subcockles of his heart.]

Now don't ya go usin' all that ship as a scratchin' post while ya locked up in there, ain't goin' to do much 'nyways 'nd ya never know, out here ya might find something stronger than those claws of ya's. 'nd as funny as that would be to see, ya might lose some of those tough guy points if ya walkin' 'round with blunted claws.

Might gimme a chance to use 'em more often. [Sometimes it was tough going non-lethal when you had six blades as your primary weapon. Though the idea of them coming out of his skin blunted gave him a momentary grimace.]

Already tried the walls, some. Dunno what they're made from, but I didn't even lleave a mark.

Yeahhhh, I hear even if ya can do damage to them they just get repaired by the next day 'nd ya back to square one.

Never tried it m'self, I wasn't to big on the whole driftin' out 'nto space 'nd suffocatin' or freezin', or explosive decompression or whatever, though suppose ya got more a chance to survive that than moi. Then die. Then come back again. Then die again. One big cycle really. Plus explosives 'nd small spaces don't really go together.

[He snorts.]

I ain't dense enough to try clawin' my way into space. Some walls are just walls.

[He wanted to just get beyond this visitor's area and see what was in the rest of this ship. He'd had no such luck.]

Some. [There was a bit of a knowing smirk and tone to go along with that word, then again with his work in 'security' Remy knew how easy it was to make something look harmless or unimportant.]

Ya just play nice there 'till ya get dropped off, non? Or for the sake of ya new shipmates, take out ya aggression there before ya get put in even cramped conditions.

[In fact, he's had a good long time to work out his anger issues. Something about having all his memories back and dealing with most of his knee jerk revenge issues has done some good in calming him.]

Hey, there's a difference between playin' nice 'nd behavin', 'nd I play real nice with others. [There was a lot of tone added to that one word and a grin to go along with it, no subtly at all behind either of those.]

'nd ya gotta remember, 'm goin' of my experiences with ya alter ego. Then again, would hope he had some control, bein' 'round a house full of kids 'nd teens. That or Xavier be real good at hidin' bodies.

Hm. About that. Ya mind filling me in on what you know about him?

[Gambit here seems to have a distance to his counterpart, unlike Kurt and Rogue. If he's gonna get a frank evaluation of what to expect, this might just be the best way.]

Well, [The word was drawn out as Remy trying to decide if he should be honest about this all or cover his own ass, or if he even needed to. Was it worth the risk that it might make the other man angry, especially if he ended up on the WonderDuck... things could get messy.

Then again, Remy did like risks.] Didn' know... 'him' personally that well, I was one of Magneto's minions back then before I left New York, 'nd never really faced him on the battle field. [Then again, there was that time in Tibet.] But there was once when I actually worked with him 'nd, unfortunately Fluffy, tryin' to stop- [Then stopping before he said 'Mystique from wakin' Apocalypse up by usin' Rogue', realizing that it wasn't his story, it was her's. Instead he finished up with;] Apocalypse from wakin' up. Didn' work out that well.

Other than that, [No reason to tell him about Remy's kidnapping of Rogue either. That didn't need to come up, especially if this Logan had a soft spot for his Rogue like the one in his world did for the girl.] Didn' really get a chance to run 'nto him. But from what I did pick up, he the team's main teacher from what I got, at least with combat 'nd bein' in the field. Don't always go out with the team, only when things tend to get real bad.

[Teacher, then. That isn't so different. He's done plenty of that in his time with the X-Men, at least once he got more settled in. Main teacher, not so much. Though the notion of him not going out on missions seems pretty unlike him.]

Are all the X-Men as young as Kurt is?

[Rogue is older - sure, but she also said she'd spent plenty of time in some other place.]

The X-Men kinda be in two groups, ya alternative self, Storm, 'nd Beast be part of the older crew who helps out as needed, but the rest be teenagers. Oldest would be Scott 'nd Jean, put Rogue as next oldest when she ain't been held by aliens for years on end, then Kurt 'nd Kitty.

[There was a moment for him to think it all over.] Did have a mission against that team where had one of the kids tagged 'long, but never seen him on the field before, Iceman. 'nd they had the help of an outsider, Angel, who be closer to m' age. Other than that all the others at the house be younger, Iceman's age.

[Well... damn. He shakes his head and almost laughs hearing the team put out like that.]

I was an early recruit, but never one of the originals. Scott, Jean, Hank, Bobby, and Warren made up the original ranks. Me, Kurt, and 'Ro made up the second wave. Kitty and Rogue a little after that... and eventually, even you.

[Among others unmentioned, but no need throwing out names if they're not relevant. The comparison is all a bit meaningless, except perhaps to demonstrate just how different things are. The notion that he, Storm, and Beast might be the original recruits seems kind of absurd. Him training Scott? Now that must be a sight.]

Yeahhh, I keep hearin' that but still don't see that. [With his alternative self being part of the X-Men, but Remy knew it was true. He had heard from others in different worlds that he was, and had seen the comics in Luceti to show as much.

It just still didn't feel right.] Not that really gotta worry 'bout 'ny of that 'round here 'nyways, the mutant population ain't that large here, though seems to be gettin' bigger of late. [First Kitty and Logan showing up. They were on a roll.]

Yeah, well, it ain't all that large in general.

[Less than two hundred, after all.]

[That caused a slight raise to a brow from Remy.] Ya world new to the whole 'mutants livin' among us' thing as well? [After all, back home the world was just getting use to the fact mutant exist, give or take a year. Before that they were pretty much unknown to the public, or at least not making too much noise to make it onto the news.

Because it was either that, a bunch of 'offical mutants' or... or maybe this Logan was from a world where the war between humans and mutants had already happened, or the Sentinel program got up and running, or a number of other horrible thoughts that dwindled the numbers down.

Or he was talking about the school. Yeah, had to be that last one, right?]

No. Not new. Just a long story. [One he doesn't much want to get into just now, especially on a public communication.] There's only a fraction of us still left an' it ain't done nothing to make us any more likable.

[There was a pause from him as Remy considered how far to push that, curious to know the details but also wanting to stay on good grounds with Logan.] Sorry to hear that, sounds tough.

It ain't no picnic, but it is what it is. [If there's other worlds out there where M-Day didn't happen, then that's good for them. But he's playing with the hand he was dealt.]

[Remy can respect that kind of thinking. If you couldn't change something why bother worrying about it?

Although he wasn't sure if he should be worried that he though along the same lines as Logan...] True that.

Even if ya bringin' the mood down. Femmes must real love that 'bout ya. [And humor was the easier way to deal with such bad and dark issues.]

I got a lot of attractive qualities. That's only one of 'em.

[He doesn't really know why himself. But somehow... women are into him. He doesn't question it too much.]

Yeaaaahh, can really see that, [Those words were thick with sarcasm as Remy only shook his head at Logan.] Donno how I ever doubted that. But back in reality with the rest of us, 'll leave ya to... try 'nd explore without messin' up the ship too much. Have fun with that.
