[He’s dressed in a sleek suit, folded collar, black tie, slicked back hair, the whole fancy ensemble. It’s new and it makes him feel somewhat normal again. Hence, the very late, but first public introduction.

He’s sitting on the edge of his bed with his hands clasped together between his knees.]

Hey there, other...captives. TV stars. Whatever we’re being called. And I guess. Anyone else watching. My name is FDR. Yeah, it’s letters. And yeah, like the president. No, I’m not a president, but you know, I don’t mind pretending if anyone wants to be my Marilyn. [And he grins cheekily.] But, really, being named after the guy who came up with that whole “The only thing to fear is fear itself” crap isn’t bad. I mean, a lot of people buy that. It’s not true, by the way. There’s a shitload of stuff to be scared of. Like WMDs. ...My boss. ...Being on an alien’s version of The Real World.

[And he shakes his head, still a little disgusted at the prospect of reality TV. Those were dark days.]

So, back home I was the cruise ship captain of a [smirk] very large vessel. And you know, being in the business of pleasure cruises, I have to say, this one seriously lacks. I mean, people can’t be watching us just to see us busting our asses earning some money, so where’s all the drama, violence, and sex happening? That’s how MTV got their ratings. Or murder...has that happened at all? I mean, not on MTV-I don’t think- on the ships...obviously.[So smooth.]

And I’ve seen some people talking about people they know up and disappearing, anyone know for sure what happens to them? Not enough popularity? Do they get demoted to the alien version of Fear Factor? Star in their own snuff films?

[And he looks like he’s done with his questions for now, he even leans forward to shut off the video, but then pauses, a small smirk gracing his features.]

Oh. And just out of pure curiosity, has anyone tried racing the shuttles?

Action: A bar. Any bar.

[Bars aren’t his favorite scene, there’s just not enough energy. It’s a bunch of depressed and tired people sitting at tables and on barstools nursing their emotions and their booze. He usually prefers clubs, there’s an energy to be found in the loud music and lights and swaying bodies. But this feels more appropriate after working all day at a job he really doesn’t like. He’s not interested in the game so much as he’s interested in the end result right now. And that’s to get drunk.

He’s sitting at the bar, a couple of empty shot glasses in front of him, and the latest in his fingers. The only thing that’s giving him a reason to pause is the woman that moves over next to him to order a drink.]

You. [And he points the pinky finger of his shot-holding hand at her, smiles when the single word catches her attention.] Are shining like a bright light.

[She rolls her eyes and moves away from him and he chuckles lightly at his failure.] Well, guess it’s more of a club line than a bar line.

[And he slams back his shot before setting the glass back on the bar with a clank.] Top it off.

[ He quirks an eyebrow at him as he cleans the counter. ]

And have you destroy my good work? Force forbid.

[ Besides, Obi-Wan's tastes lean more to the refined, the polish of the cities. ]

Good work? Oh, come on, you can't brag like that and not put up, man.

[And he stares at the shot for a brief second, before deciding to talk rather than drink it just yet, but idle hands he can't have, so he spins the small glass around in his hands.]

I'll put up with whatever I want to. That's the beauty of the choice.

Also, you're in a space station. Pick up lines about stars are rather common and not particularly endearing.

[He squinted at the other man for a moment before shaking his head. Oh he definitely wasn't getting into some conversation about choice when he was well on his way to getting drunk. Especially when choice brought up the very distinct lack of one about their current situation.]

But he does chuckle at that bit of advice.]

Right. I must have forgotten that bit. You'd think it'd be harder to do, you know, considering there's space all around us. Well, for the record, it worked plenty on Earth.

[This time he does take the shot, and once again, he taps for a refill.]

Ah, Earth. A lot of people are from there.

[ He dutifully refills the glass. Personally, he thought it was a bit of an odd name. Much like naming your planet "Planet" or "Ground". ]

Space allows for opportunities, not bad pick up lines.

You're not?

[Yeah, they should have put more creative people in charge of naming planets. THough he has to admit, Uranus gets plenty of decent jokes.

He scoffs.] What opportunities?

No. I was raised on Coruscant, though I would not say I belong there.

[ A Jedi goes where he's needed. ]

What, you come from one world and have no time to learn of others?

[That name sounds vaguely familiar, but it's a hard thought to hold on to at the moment, so he doesn't bother much with it.]

You mean like commercialism is obviously intergalactic? As are reality TV shows? [And he squints.] Are you always this positive or is a part of the job requirement?

To a certain extent, yes.

[ He wipes down a glass. Being positive is simply a part of him. He's not technically the most optimistic person, simply self-aware of himself and his role in the galaxy. That tends to leave him open to all possibilities. ]

And this is only a part time job.

Doesn't that get exhausting?

[An honest question. Don't get him wrong, he tries to play the positive angle more often than the negative one...usually. But there are some times where life dictates you be a grumpy asshole. This is one of them.]

What's your other job?

I don't have a job, per se. I am a Jedi. That is my calling.

[ In a bar, that would raise eyebrows, but the anonymity and the strangeness of the term "Jedi" was welcome. ]

As for exhausting, well. Either you can do it or you can't. There is no try.

[He blinks at that. Opens his mouth to speak and then closes it again.

he'd be more disbelieving if he hadn't already met one of those on his own ship. And even then he had made her use the force on him before he actually swallowed the whole thing.

But she, he didn't recognize.

And while he hasn't gotten names yet. He knows that line. Oh, he definitely knows that line.] ...Did you seriously just quote Yoda to me?

[ Obi-Wan blinks. How did this man know Yoda? This bears greater scrutiny. The Force hums around him and he stretches out a tendril to feel out this man. Not a liar, genuine shock . . . what does it mean? ]

Yoda is one of my teachers. His influence does not go unnoticed among the Jedi.

Dare I ask how you are acquainted with him?

[ Polite, but bleak. Spill. ]

[One of Yoda's students? Oh man. That's kind of exciting. If the guy isn't full of crap.

Time will tell.]

Yeah, sure. Just humor me one more question first, what's your name?

[ Hm. ]

It's Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan Kenobi. Does that satisfy your curiosity?

[Excuse the absolutely incredulous expression that comes over his face. He looks a combination of starstruck and dumbstruck and maybe just plain old struck.

Obi-Wan Kenobi just poured him a shot.

THat's the kind of story legends must be made out of.]

No way.

[Sorry Obi, that's all you get from him at the moment.]

[ In the driest of tones. ] Yes way.

Would you like some ice with that?

Wait-wait-wait. Like. The Obi-wan? Like 'Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi you're my only hope' Obi-wan Kenobi?

[There's that moment when a word is said too quickly in rapid succession that starts to make that name sound like gibberish to his hears, but it doesn't even matter.]

You're like a rock star! What are you doing serving drinks?

[ He raises an eyebrow at FDR. You're my only hope? Who has he been talking to, Bail Organa? He sighs lightly. Something tells him he won't be getting out of this bizarre conversation. ]

I am Obi-Wan Kenobi, though I hesitate to call myself anyone's hope. As for serving drinks, it pays well and I get a steady influx of rumours and information. A Jedi's lifeline, considering none of us know where we are in the universe.

"What? Of course you are. Princess Leia and-" And maybe this Obi-Wan looks a little more Phantom of the Menace rather than New Hope. "...Nevermind."

"So get any good gossip doing this job?"

Some. Nothing particularly relevant to our situations, though.

[ He eyes him critically. He clearly knows something. Much like Kurt did. He hopes it's not another case of hero worship. ]

Do you ever hear people mentioning anything about this reality show? Like. Anyone ever talked about watching it?

[Yeah, he knows that look, but that's breaking the forth wall, man. And that's just rude manners. And despite...most of his attitude tonight, he does have some manners.]

No. As far as I can tell, they watch the usual holovids that are passed around. Nothing about our reality show.

Mm. [It's a grunted response before he throws back his shot and sets it back on the bar with slightly glassy eyes.

He didn't come here to dig for information about their situation, but damn if he can't just turn off the switch that is always looking for answers.]

Do you believe it? [It's definitely not a bad thing to have freaking Obi-Wan's opinion on something. ...Other than his pick-up lines.]

[ He cleans the bar carefully as he considers his response. Obi-Wan's never been one to reply impulsively. ]

I think there's more to this than the explanations we do have but I also have no reason to doubt it. In time, the Force will show us the truth.

[ Hopefully it won't take too long. ]
