Oh, I know, between the dry planets and the recycled oxygen, it's awful...

[his poor hair. :( he takes such good care of it, but it's hard to get good hair products out here... but his eyes widen in excitement at the fruit (why is it that color??), and he perks up immediately.]

I have no clue. But I didn't recognise anything down there that passed for fruit, so I guess it's time to experiment. It smells a little like passion fruit, though. Hold on--

[She'll dig in the drawers until she finds a knife, slicing it in two to show paler flesh on the inside.] I guess if it's poisonous, we can die together.

Oh. [his grin suddenly turns into a somewhat-startled frown.] A lovely sentiment, but I hope you're exaggerating.

[he... tilts his head.] You're at least sure it's a food, right?

[Pfft. She can't help but laugh a little.]

No it's okay, I'm kidding. It's from a fruit vendor! And I've already tried some of the others. I think it'll be okay. My sense of humour is just twisted.

[not that poison could have actually killed him, but still! what an attitude to have! he laughs a little too, but it's maybe out of relief...]

All right, all right... I believe you. And if I'm wrong, you'll be the first person I haunt after my untimely death.

[he holds out his hand. still on board.]

[She slides his half onto a small plate and hands it over.] Here you go.

Honestly, I didn't recognise any of these. But fruit is fruit. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. [Though some are a lot more meh than others. Until she grows her mikan trees, though, these are her options.] And I figure it's good to have healthier stuff on board for everyone.

Yeah, I can agree with you there. I miss fruit. All this "Floot Loop" flavoring just doesn't cut it.

[he still remembers the lemon and strawberry-flavored coffees... it was a dark time. he will absolutely and unhesitatingly take a bite of that weird fruit. ...and...]

...Mm, s'not bad, yeah...! [he kinda bobbles his head back and forth a little, smiling wider. he does like fruit an awful lot, even if he's also used to not having it much.]

[Hey look, we've got something in common after all. Nami grins widely at him, taking a bite of her own. It's a tang she's not quite used to, but she'll take it over the gels any day.]

I know it won't last long, but at least we can enjoy it while we're on station. You like fruit much back home? Got a favourite?

Uh-huh... [he takes another bite and ends up half-covering his mouth, so he can talk with his mouthful and not be totally gross.] We don't got a lot of it where I live, but I'm a big fan of oranges when I can get 'em. That and papanyas, when I go east.

[which is... totally not an earth fruit.]

Oranges! Excellent choice. They're right up there with my favourite. [Her own bites are a little more delicate, so she swallows before adding more.] I'm growing mikan saplings over on the Iskaulit. We had an orchard of them back home, and I kept trees on my ship. Ever tried them? They're also citrus, just smaller and a bit sweeter than oranges.
