[ Hera is seated at a small cafe on the station today, taking a break from the odd jobs she's been doing to earn money. She's got a cup of something hot at her elbow, and she's her usual composed self. ]

So, to those who don't know me, hi. I'm Hera. [ She gives a little wave. ] You might have seen me around, since I've been on the fleet for a couple of months now. For those who haven't, I just thought I should point a couple of things out, since they've been coming up fairly often when I talk to people.

[ She points at her face. ]

I'm green. This might seem self-evident, but I've actually had a surprising number of people point this out to me, as if I hadn't noticed. So I'm telling you now, I've noticed. I'm green. It's genetics, and skin pigment, and I'm aware. I've also noticed that I'm not human - I'm Twi'lek, actually. And - [ Here she points at the top of her head. ] these are called lekku, but you can call them head-tails if you prefer.

Also, in my culture, it's - rude to stare. I know a lot of you aren't familiar with species other than your own, but it can get a little uncomfortable feeling like you're under a microscope.

What are the chief ways in which your people differ from humans?

[ Hera glances down at herself again, as if to prove her point. ]

I'd think that would be obvious.

I'm talking about your culture. I'm not as stupid as the people you broadcasted this for; I can tell that you're green.

[firstrebel]

You'll have to be more specific, in that case. To tell you the truth, my species has mingled with others for so long at this point that we don't have a terribly distinct culture anymore. And then there are regional differences, and clan differences...

Can you explain to me what differentiates humans from other species?

[eyeforaneye]

From those that exist in my world, yes.

Still, you specifically mentioned your culture when you made the broadcast, so I was referencing that in my question.

[firstrebel]

Well, as I said, there really isn't a lot of difference anymore. My galaxy is a big interspecies melting pot and has been for thousands of years. We have some old gods that people on Ryloth still sometimes worship, and a few holidays my people sometimes celebrate. None of it means anything here.

It means something if you've brought the knowledge of it with you, doesn't it?

Do you not worship those gods, then?

Not really.

You say you're the only Twi'lek. Does that mean you were unfamiliar with everyone here when you arrived, or were there others from your world?

There are several people here that I know from back home.

You are a curious one, aren't you? [ She's a little suspicious of his intentions in asking, but shrugs. ] Kanan Jarrus is my best friend from home, he knows me best.

I'm trying to see if you're in any way related to anyone that I've met here thus far. It just makes things easier.

Kanan Jarrus... unfortunately I don't know that name.

Kanan's the only one I really know.
