[ Hera is seated at a small cafe on the station today, taking a break from the odd jobs she's been doing to earn money. She's got a cup of something hot at her elbow, and she's her usual composed self. ]

So, to those who don't know me, hi. I'm Hera. [ She gives a little wave. ] You might have seen me around, since I've been on the fleet for a couple of months now. For those who haven't, I just thought I should point a couple of things out, since they've been coming up fairly often when I talk to people.

[ She points at her face. ]

I'm green. This might seem self-evident, but I've actually had a surprising number of people point this out to me, as if I hadn't noticed. So I'm telling you now, I've noticed. I'm green. It's genetics, and skin pigment, and I'm aware. I've also noticed that I'm not human - I'm Twi'lek, actually. And - [ Here she points at the top of her head. ] these are called lekku, but you can call them head-tails if you prefer.

Also, in my culture, it's - rude to stare. I know a lot of you aren't familiar with species other than your own, but it can get a little uncomfortable feeling like you're under a microscope.

There are several Force-sensitives here, yes.

Are you one of them?

No. Actually, now that I think about it, I might be the only one here from my galaxy who isn't. Now that's strange.

Seems like the Atroma have pretty defined tastes and you got...lucky? Probably not the right word.

It could be worse. Some of the others from my galaxy have it a lot worse.

Do you prefer being here? [It wouldn't be the first time someone had.]

Prefer? No, I wouldn't say that. I have to get home, I have important things to do there. It's not really a matter of preference.

No, I suppose it's not when we don't exactly have a choice in it. Wouldn't mind seeing that change. [Which sounds pretty passive, but she'd like to help effect that change.]

A choice would definitely be nice. I mean, I'm sure some people would choose this, over poverty, or outright slavery, or other things.

[Kitty does find it interesting where her mind goes for worse options. Not that those are bad choices. It just seems telling of the world she's from. Kitty would have said death which is certainly a personal for her as well.]

Are those common where you're from?

Far too common, I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear it. [She'll refrain from asking if they happened to Hera though there's a passing curious glance.]

[ She's been lucky herself, but a lot of her people, not so much. ]

Which is exactly why I have to go back. [ To make it better, naturally. ]

[Well, that's a familiar sort of refrain. The hero mantra.] You have a plan to work on all that?

[ Hera has to chuckle at that. ] One that's been ongoing for years, yes.

Playing the long game. Something war-shaped?

Maybe, eventually. I wouldn't call it a war yet, though.

Stern disagreement? Tersely-worded letters?

Maybe more like giving them a bloody nose once in a while.

Do they get the idea after you do that?

I think the Empire is starting to get the picture.

Think they'll stop or work harder at hitting you back?

I'd be naive to not expect them to put up a fight. People with power will do anything to keep it.
