the word of the day is "paranoia"
Who: Kirito / OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Hiding out in engineering on the Paisley, if you so desire
When: Now!
[So, this is something he's been wondering - and eventually, seriously considering - for the last couple of months, mostly when they landed on Arslae and he realized how ill-equipped he is to deal with conflict. For most people, it would simply be a matter of avoiding fights. But for him... well. It's kind of all he's ever been good for.
Getting told that, hey, one of your crewmates is a murderer is more or less the last straw to break through his indecisive camel back.]
I have a question, mostly for whoever's gotten personal those personal augment upgrades you can buy, or at least thought about it. I'd really like to know- what's it like? Which did you choose? Why would you choose to get one- or why not? I mean, the people offering them up aren't exactly trustworthy, but they all sound pretty useful, too.
Basically, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. I'd appreciate the help.

Um... I'm assuming not. But danger isn't as predictable as I'd like.
AUDIO
Speaking from experience?
AUDIO
Unfortunately, yeah. That's why I'd like to stay prepared.
AUDIO

AUDIO
Danger is always a possibility, but is relying on augment upgrades the best course of action?
Power means nothing if you don't know how to wield it.
AUDIO
[Come on bro don't make assumptions.]
AUDIO
Then go ahead. But while you're at it, you want to share why you are that paranoid? There are other people on this ship that has even less power than you, probably.
AUDIO
[Dude we live with wizards and time travelers and supernatural creatures and he's just some kid. Literally no one has less power than him.]
AUDIO
[ Look, most of the people here just look like some kid. Then all of a sudden, you find out they're a wizard ]
AUDIO
It may sound rude, but trust doesn't come easy with me. Anyway, it isn't fair to other people for me to rely on them rather than try to better myself.
AUDIO
It may not sound fair to you and you might even suspect that help comes at a price, but we're all in the same boat. Lending a hand isn't a tough question. I know I wouldn't think twice to help you out if you're facing a rancor.
AUDIO
[He'd welcome the distraction, since it feels a bit like he's getting grilled. Why's this guy so serious about wanting to get stronger?]
AUDIO
A rancor. Looks kind of like a ...a large dewback crossed with a veermok --a lizard and a primate. They eat pretty much anything you throw at them, including people.
AUDIO
So they're pretty tough to fight, then?
AUDIO
... They could be. But anything could be tough to fight, if you're not smart enough or quick enough.
AUDIO
Sounds like it would be a good challenge.
AUDIO
But I like your spirit, kid.
AUDIO
[Most just say he's an idiot.]
Hey, you're one of those... Jedi wizards, right?
AUDIO
[ He snorts at the old Tatooine slang term for "cool".
Blast it, Kitster, it wasn't cool the first time you said it and now it's in another damn galaxy. ]
A Jedi. Yeah, sure, I am.
AUDIO
So you must know how to use a- lightsaber?
[His memory of sci-fi is shoddy at best, but he's pretty sure that was how it went.]
AUDIO
AUDIO
AUDIO
Why not a blaster? Much easier to handle -- just point, aim and shoot.
AUDIO
I've always used swords.
