the word of the day is "paranoia"
Who: Kirito / OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Hiding out in engineering on the Paisley, if you so desire
When: Now!
[So, this is something he's been wondering - and eventually, seriously considering - for the last couple of months, mostly when they landed on Arslae and he realized how ill-equipped he is to deal with conflict. For most people, it would simply be a matter of avoiding fights. But for him... well. It's kind of all he's ever been good for.
Getting told that, hey, one of your crewmates is a murderer is more or less the last straw to break through his indecisive camel back.]
I have a question, mostly for whoever's gotten personal those personal augment upgrades you can buy, or at least thought about it. I'd really like to know- what's it like? Which did you choose? Why would you choose to get one- or why not? I mean, the people offering them up aren't exactly trustworthy, but they all sound pretty useful, too.
Basically, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. I'd appreciate the help.

[ He's watching what Kirito grabs carefully, making sure he knows what to do. ]
Action]
[Well, as awesome as synthetic food can get.]
[ Action]
[ He smiles slightly. ]
[ Action]
[ Action]
Yeah, I could go with that. [ He pauses briefly. ] Thanks.
[ Action]
[When it's all protein anyway, the fried stuff is sort of like a treat, really. He goes about getting the ingredients and mixtures set up, describing what he's doing as he goes. As it's being mixed, though-]
Do you cook much back home?
[ Action]
When I got a chance to. It's a hobby of mine.
[ Action]
[Thankfully you're much less likely to set the kitchen on fire working with protein mush.]
[ Action]
I'm not sure how much protein mush counts as food.
[ Action]
[Having personal experience with both, he can recognize the shortcomings.]
[ Action]
I know I'm gonna have to get used to it, though.
[ Action]
You should probably see about getting a job on the station and buy as many meals and supplies as you can, though. You might regret it otherwise.
[He's totally stocking up.]
[ Action]
That sounds like a good plan.
[ Action]
[ Action]
It makes sense that the food would be different from Earth's.
[ Action]
[filed under: things normal people don't say at the dinner table]
Re: [ Action]
I'm... glad we're not.

[ Action]
[He steps aside and gestures to the pan, now that things are cooking.]
Here, give it a try. It's better to get a feel for the equipment, since it can be kind of twitchy.
[ Action]
Anything in particular I should know about it?
[ Action]
Oh, and the two front burners will probably set your food on fire if you turn them on to power 6. 5 and a half is fine, 6 and a half is fine, but right at 6? You're doomed.
Don't even bother with the back-left burner. The only setting that still works is the max, and if you need food to cook that fast you might as well use the microwave.
