[Guess who just shows up to breakfast one... afternoon? Loki emerges from his office, looking for all the world like a man who has just woken up from an extended nap, barely open eyes, trying to stretch his back and shoulders, the whole nine. He wanders into the kitchen, fumbles around until he makes himself something hot and dark enough that he can pretend it's coffee, and stares suspiciously into the cup before drinking.

Ugh, his mouth tastes like someone glued one of Thor's feet to it. Ugh. What possessed him to sleep like this...

(Guess who has no idea he's been missing for weeks~)]

[A bit later: Broadcast]

[Awake now, and... well, he looks amused. Which is to say as if he's planning on flaying someone alive.]

Why yes, I have returned. Hide all of the party favors, lock up your sons and daughters, cancel the pedestrian fireworks displays.

A funny thing, missing time. You'd never know it was gone until someone tells you. Has anyone else fallen victim to such thievery?

This wasn't fair. It wasn't fair, and she might be irrationally angry, but she was angry all the same. Though of course it explained why he hadn't contacted her; he hadn't realized how long he was gone. She exhaled slowly and drawled:] This is gettin' ta be a real bad habit. [She gave him a small smile, tone warm.] You'd best come find me 'fore ya fall asleep again. Got a thing or two I'd like ta fill ya in on.

Mmm. I think it only becomes habit if it is a conscious practice on my part. And this is not. [He is not happy about this.]

I've had my second cup of something coffee-like now, so I shall do so.

[She wasn't necessarily willing to allow that definition, but she did know it wasn't his fault. She'd tried. She'd tried to find him. It was a thousand times worse to know that he was so close and not be able to get to him.]

I'm on the Star Station. I'll head back ta my room here. [She injected a teasing tone to her voice.] I bet you'll be able ta find me alright.

[What with his magic and all. She shouldn't need to give directions.]

I'll be sure to squeak like a distressed kitten if I become overly lost. [As long as she's got the pendant, he'll have no trouble finding her at all.]

I shall see you shortly.

[Yep, he's heading right there, feeling extremely disquieted.]

[They are prying that pendent off of her cold, dead body. So he shouldn't have much trouble at all.

Rogue's room is a smaller one than she normally rents, with only a simple, twin-sized bed, a mirror, desk, dresser, and a bathroom. She is sitting at the desk, reading over his com post and waiting.]

Loki arrives as quickly as he can via shuttle and then makes up the rest of the distance simply by teleporting. It feels rather good, to not have his powers limited like they had been in Luceti. He simply appears inside the door, and then raps on the frame to let her know that he's there since the arrival is rather soundless.

Rogue startled at the knock, jumping inside her seat and whirling about -- her irritation with the situation flared and then melted, seeing him standing there. She was out of her seat and moving toward him before she even fully realized her emotions had shifted, speaking (wanting to hear him speak) before she reached him, "Most folks knock on the outside/i> of the door."

He offered her a crooked smile, holding out his arms to her. "I thought we established long ago that I'm not most folks." As if these mythical 'most folks' would have a chance in Hel of being able to capture Rogue as a lover, either. He had his points of pride.

Banter aside, holding her would be very nice.

Holding him was exactly what she intended, stepping into his arms without hesitation and wrapping both of hers around his waist. She rested her head on his chest, listened to the sound of his heartbeat for a long moment before asking quietly: "You alright?"

Loki wrapped his long arms around her, curling in to rest his lips lightly on her hair and just inhale the scent of her. Yes, this was familiar, and good. "I'm not entirely certain," he said. "I allowed Remus to look me over with his magics, and he did not find anything amiss. But after the experience of Luceti, I find it difficult to believe that I have been gone for so long and nothing has been done to me."

Quietly, "This ain't Luceti. The same rules don't have ta hold."

They had been worth testing, anyway. Even if she still hadn't been able to get to him. Rogue pulled back a little to offer him a small smile and hold up three fingers on her hand -- joke first, serious question after. "How many fingers am I holdin' up?"

She figured that was about as effective a test as anything.

And even if nothing had been done to him at all, would he be able to believe that? What would help him see it?

"Yet I shudder to think what else they could have been doing me for such a length of time."

He snorted. "Three." And caught her hand to kiss her fingers. "I suppose you shall have to observe me and see if you notice anything amiss. It is you who knows me best here."

And what was she supposed to do if he was different? She felt a familiar rush of rage tinted helplessness, and her hand tightened, catching some of his shirt in her gloved fingers.

"Observe ya, huh? Does that mean I shouldn't let you out of my sight?" And she should follow that up with a kiss, except instead her hand slid up to the back of his neck and she pulled herself closer, going on tiptoes to hug him and hold him close.

He was more than happy to go into a close embrace again, his arms wrapped tightly around her. "I think I should like that," he said. "At least for a few days." He didn't like feeling this unbalanced. He'd been whisked away and not even known it, terrifying for someone with his obsession with being in control of his own life.

Rogue swallowed and nodded, relaxing by slow increments into their embrace, daring to believe he wouldn't immediately vanish out of her arms.

Helpless...

"Think I can manage that, anyway." A pause, and she forced another joke, "'course, ya might have ta move in. I know sharin' my bed can be a trial, but us mere mortals require some sleep..."

He laughed softly into her hair, nuzzling a bit closer. It still felt so strange at times, to have such a sense of safety around someone that he could feel something other than angry at whatever had happened to him. He still wasn't certain if the fear was superior, but it lessened a little with each second of embrace.

"I feel as if I've slept enough to last a lifetime, but if you will permit me to read next to you whilst you sleep, I think we might work things out."

Rogue very simply continued to hold him; it was a comfort for her to have him so close after not being able to get to him for over a month. "Suppose that just means I'll have ta shut my eyes ta sleep," she said, continuing to hold him. "I reckon I can manage that..."

"Has my lady developed the habit of sleeping with her eyes open whilst I was away?" he said, tone a little teasing. "How... creepy."

"I guess you'll just have ta find out, won't ya." She had so much more she wanted to tell him; so much of personal import had happened while he was away, but Rogue could tell how disquieted he was, even if he hadn't come to find her immediately - which was another thing she'd have to address when he was feeling less fragile.

So she just started to pull back. "D'ya need anythin'? Your bank account's frozen with the rest of ours, but I've been pullin' in more than enough ta get by. If ya have just been sleeping this whole month, even you've gotta be hungry, right? Or maybe some tea?"

"Anticipation and dread, dearest." He kissed the top of her head.

He hadn't even gotten so far as to check his own bank account; actually getting over to her had been more of a priority to his muzzy mind. "Remus made some coffee for me." Remus is starting to endear himself as a student a great deal, actually. He paused to consider--was he hungry. "I don't feel particularly hungry," he said after a moment. "I think... tea would be lovely. And I should like to know what you have done whilst I have been... absent."

"Alright," she said quietly, beginning to pull back. "Come on in an' sit down. I can get some tea pretty easily, though I can't vouch for the quality."

Since, you know, she's not a tea drinker.

He let her go with some reluctance, then headed over to sit. "I'll be the judge of that for you, then." He was rather surprised she had any tea at all, since she didn't care for it generally. He settled into the chair and waited, listening.

Even in this middling-to-cheap hotel, Rogue still had access to the station's advanced technology. She parted slowly from him and, glancing back once, and then typing her request into the unit there and then inserting a mug into the machine.

"Green, right?" That was what he liked, wasn't it? "Or - ginseng?"

"Green, if you please," he said, watching her meditatively. He'd asked what she'd been up to, and didn't really have any other news of his own. Not remembering anything of the last nearly month didn't make for a great many good conversational topics.

Yes, he had asked. She had no idea where to even begin, or what he would be able to take hearing about right now. She knew how this sort of thing - forgetting - would be really difficult for him.

She pushed the button for green tea and couldn't help but turn around to make sure he was still there after. She gave him a faint, almost uncertain smile. "Did Remus tell ya how long it'd been?"
