[Guess who just shows up to breakfast one... afternoon? Loki emerges from his office, looking for all the world like a man who has just woken up from an extended nap, barely open eyes, trying to stretch his back and shoulders, the whole nine. He wanders into the kitchen, fumbles around until he makes himself something hot and dark enough that he can pretend it's coffee, and stares suspiciously into the cup before drinking.

Ugh, his mouth tastes like someone glued one of Thor's feet to it. Ugh. What possessed him to sleep like this...

(Guess who has no idea he's been missing for weeks~)]

[A bit later: Broadcast]

[Awake now, and... well, he looks amused. Which is to say as if he's planning on flaying someone alive.]

Why yes, I have returned. Hide all of the party favors, lock up your sons and daughters, cancel the pedestrian fireworks displays.

A funny thing, missing time. You'd never know it was gone until someone tells you. Has anyone else fallen victim to such thievery?

Okay, but practically speaking? What's the typical end game to the creativity?

Whatever I need it to be at the time. [He might be a little obtuse on purpose, but he's actually not even certain what she's asking. Magic is a tool used to solve many problems. There's no single answer.]

[She doesn't exactly know what she's aiming for either. But if he doesn't use it for fighting then she's not sure what he is using it for. Sure, she uses her own powers regularly. They come naturally and getting from point A to point B is a lot easier with them. She's not sure she sees the same direct path for light manipulation.

There's also the things Rogue mentioned about his questionable past. She didn't go into any kind of real detail, but it left Kitty wondering and fishing. But he's important to Rogue, so she won't sink her hooks too deep.]

Makes sense. [Vague, but who could disagree with it?] I'd be curious to see it sometime. [But she doesn't ask for a demonstration. She's usually happy enough if people are accepting of her powers, but then they get too eager and start asking for demonstrations she can start feeling a little like a sideshow.]

[Of course he uses it a lot when fighting. But he's not the sort to just give away his advantages for free. Especially not to someone that might well one day be hunting for him if things go poorly.]

I don't know. The last guy I was with was immortal. [Not that she and Jack ever dated. It was mostly UST and mutual respect, except for the day the wardens adjusted their memories to make them think they were married.] Seems a shame to go back. But then stir fry on the other hand...

Probably not. He's over a century old, but he doesn't look it or act it.

A century is not so long as that, really.

No? How old does someone need to be before it's impressive?

I'm merely thinking in proportion to regular lifespan. Humans attain a century fairly regularly these days, if memory serves.

Though I suppose he would have looked quite well for a century.

He did. I like older men, but I have limits. And I did say over a hundred. I don't remember exactly what it was. Besides, no one was getting that old back home. [Not since the war started anyway. Not unless you were immortal.]

If that's because you upgraded to living, I wouldn't worry too much. If it means you're dead you'll have a lot of explaining to do to Rogue.

I might have done that. But in a literal since, I have reason to believe I'm dead in my home universe. She's aware of this.
