Who: Cress Darnel & everyone
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: the marsiva
When: 2/25 super early in the morning
[ The first thing the Fleet gets from Cress is a shot of narrowed eyes and blonde curls as she kills the feed upon noticing the communicator. It's not terran or lunar tech, not the kind she's familiar with, but it's easy enough for her to navigate.
The second thing they get, some time later, comes from the viewing bay of the Marsiva, where Cress sits with her legs crossed as she hunches over the communicator, one hand continuously reaching up to fiddle with the ends of her hair and start to try to twine it around her wrist before she realizes it's not long enough for that, still. Not long enough in the way it used to be, at least.
Her hand drops, and she clears her throat. ]
I - [ She's listened in on some things and read others, watched entertainment feeds, but - ] Can someone talk to me? Please?
[ Her voice is very small and very fragile. She's trapped again, and there isn't even the familiar image of the Earth outside this viewport. It's a bigger cage than the last one, but her hands are shaky and her eyes dart around nervously, her unease clear. ]
About - about anything. Please. This is Cress - Crescent Moon - Crescent Moon Darnel. [ She has to keep correcting herself, not used to her full name, or her last name, and Cress flicks one hand, flustered. Then she tries for a smile, a little happier and more confident than she actually feels. ] We get to - um, go planetside? Am I understanding that right? This isn't -
[ Another vague sweeping hand gesture around the viewing bay, and her voice goes softer again. ]
- Nevermind. Do you have a favorite song? A favorite story? Anything. [ If the answer is "no" and she's stuck inside a spaceship without any breaks at all to that being a thing, she might actually cry, so she backtracks from the question. Without her noticing, she starts twirling some hair around one finger, biting her lip. ]

Wakin' up here's hella weird, huh? You alright?
Today utterly sucks for her. But she does manage to firm up her tentative smile at the sight of another person, smiling. Lunar? Not Lunar? ]
It's - yeah, it's just a little weird. I was definitely, definitely somewhere else, and then - bam! Or, well, not bam, since it was more like - [ A vague hand gesture to indicate waking up slowly ] - but. And I'm - I'm okay? I'm okay.
[ She's not okay, but it's easier to pretend when she's around other people, even in this form. ]
I'm Cress. I - I said that already, didn't I? Stars above.
Yeah. Worked that way for everybody.
[A little chuckle.]
Man, don't worry about it. I was a fuckin' mess when I was first over there, repeating yourself is practically acing it.
[And she'll give the girl a little mock salute.]
I'm Chloe.

action!
[sara announces herself softly, offering a faint smile if cress should take a look upwards. she has two disposable cups in hand, clearly from the cafeteria, and gestures at the floor across from cress with one hand -- carefully.]
Mind if I join you?

No - I mean, no, I don't mind. [ Not "no, go away". ] I'm Cress? [ Why did that sound like a question... ] Cress Darnel.

her smile grows as she settles herself down, and as soon as she does she's holding out one of those cups to cress. steam curls out of the top.]
This is the closest thing to hot chocolate I could find around here. It's not too bad. [and:] I'm Sara.

I find it difficult to choose a favorite song. It seems to vary according to my mood and what I need to express at the time. At the moment, I think I favor a hymn to the Lady Varda.
Do you have a favorite song?
video
[ Not everyone likes to. She does smile a little at the question. ]
My favorite song is the one I was named for. It's a lullaby, on Luna? I...don't know if you've heard it.

Music is something of a hobby of mine. [And a source of magic, but that's neither here nor there. Give him a second and he'll produce a harp for backup and, eventually, something similar to this. Except, you know. He's one guy and not a choir.]

Hello, Cress. I'm Beverly. [Let's cut out the formalities, this time.] I'm here, and you're going to be okay. I know this is all very alarming, but you'll get to leave your ship at the end of the week, don't worry.
video
I - that's - [ she's not trapped for years on end again, so that's - ] - that's wonderful to hear. Thank you. I was - concerned.
[ to say the least. ]

Or if you just still need someone to talk to, that's all right too.

There you are. [ He says it as if he's just been looking for her at some normal place, instead of some random place they've both just woken up on. ] What have you been up to?
action;
Cress's reaction? Her reaction is more to drop her communicator on the ground and throw herself at him, arms going around his neck as she buries her face in his shirt. ]
Captain! [ She was so, so, so terrified. He knows why, has to - Cress Darnel spent seven years trapped on a satellite in space, and there doesn't seem to be a way off this ship at all. She's shaking, just a little bit. ]
action;
Nice to see you, too. I take it you just woke up here, same as I did?
[ That ooooor everyone else is dead, either or. ]

Crescent Moon Darnel? Seriously? And people act like my name is weird.
no subject
[ BUT. Wait, wait, wait. ]
And it's - it's a really common name on Luna! The first part, I mean. The second part is - that's my family name, it's...my family has it. Not everyone?

At any rate, he recognizes fright when he sees it. And, he's someone who sympathizes deeply with this sort of thing. It's customary for him to use a soft voice, to speak gently, but he's extra sure to do that now, for this rattled girl.]
It's really nice to meet you, Crescent Moon Darnel. [He's smiling, pale and pretty, someone who wants to put her at ease.] You know, there are so many songs that I don't know if I could say I love one above all others. There's one I've been thinking about a lot lately, though. I first heard it when I was much younger than I am now. It's called 'All You Need Is Love'.
video.
All You Need Is Love? I think I've...that's by the Beatles, isn't it?
[ Second Era music, but they had been important and some music lasts a very, very long time. ]

She thinks the new fleet member is at least doing a better job than when she first arrived. Elize cried for everyone to see... ]
Hello. [ Her greeting is awkward and a little shaky to strangers, but she's trying to be helpful. ] My name's Elize. We can talk!
Um... my favorite song is... [ It doesn't really have a name. ] a song about my doll. Wanna hear it?
She's terrible with people by virtue of never really having had to interact with them for seven long years. She's...learning, but. ]
I'm Cress. Like I said, and - and, yes? If you don't mind? Does your doll have a name? You wrote the song?

AUDIO
It's... unusual and no one really likes being stuck here that much. But you get used to it. [ A beat; not sure if that helped... ] There are old stories the kids used to pass around where I'm from, if you're interested in those.
AUDIO
[ Breathe, Cress. You're not stuck in space forever. Not again. ]
I'm interested! I'm so very, very...very interested. If you - if you really don't mind? I just need to - [ Think about something else. Anything else. ]

When I was a kid, my mom took me to go see an unmanned rocket fly into space. It was going to be my first time seeing it, so she wanted me to see it all! Now, see, my mom's usually a careful driver. Didn't really like to pass anybody if she could help it, preferred to take the slow lane, stuff like that.
But for this? She floored it. I'd never seen that kind of road rage in her before! I was pressed back against my seat - It felt like I was in a rocket myself!

Ummm okay. Okay, there's this one that's always fun. One time me and my friend Mikleo were exploring the ruins near our village, and it was a really well-preserved trap room. All the ropes had already rotted away but a lot of the switches were still largely in working condition.
So I was looking around trying to find the trigger mechanism for this door we were trying to get through? And I press down on this block like, trying to lean closer to get a look because I'm tiny. But it turns out to be set on a pressure plate and the floor just drops out from beneath my friend. And I'm freaking out because I'm like oh gods I just killed my best friend, I'm in so much trouble, but he's climbing up through another hole behind me so he's fine. I can't see him and having a crisis and I end up triggering another switch that starts dropping blocks from the ceiling, which we're both running around dodging. And I see another switch and I'm like okay, this has to turn it off so I go press it and another hole opens up and he falls in that one.
It was just like one after another, and he's screaming like, "Sorey! Are you trying to kill me!" He was so mad while it was going on but then when he saw a block about to crush me he tackled me out of the way.
And we started laughing after that, because mostly I think the only other option would've been like, screaming, but it was kind of funny after the fact. Y'know, since we weren't maimed or dead.
And then I threw up.
