[When the feed begins, Erik is already awake. Awake, but not yet moving from the bed. He's holding himself in the kind of intense stillness that preludes a burst of activity. And it comes shortly after, as he rolls swiftly to his feet and surveys the deck. This isn't the mansion, that much is clear. Nor is it part of any realm he's been in that he can tell. His brow furrows as he glares daggers into a featureless wall. While there is nothing of particular interest about it - it's just a wall - he seems to be observing something he finds off-putting about it.

He shakes his head abruptly, a quick jerk of the chin.] No. [With nothing further to say than that, he turns and stalks out of frame, with only a cursory glance at the communicator left behind.

Ten minutes pass, the feed holding on a truly exciting shot of that empty bed and floor.

But soon enough he re-enters the frame, wearing an expression somewhere between frustrated and resigned. This time, he does notice the communicator. After a considering pause, he walks over, reaching out ... and turns it with a finger, pointing the camera at the wall. His voice rings out clearly a moment later.]

If someone is watching, I'd appreciate an explanation. I haven't got much patience for these kinds of games anymore.

[ Oh no, it's a Fassbender! My immortal enemy-- Wait. ]

What kind of game are you picturing?

[She recognized him immediately, but it still took a moment for her to connect how she knew him. After all, she'd only met the younger version of the leader of her X-Men briefly. The face she knows is older and even more worn down from years of struggle and hardship. His hair is white and he's rarely without his elaborate suiting at least in Kitty's presence.]

Erik? [She seldom called him by his given name at home, but somehow using "Magneto" with this younger version feels stranger still. He'll see a young woman—twenty now—looking at him with surprise and concern.]

Wow. What a fascinating wall. I'm sure it appreciates you talking to it.

[That voice is enough to make him snatch up the communicator and turn it back to face him. He knows the voice, and when he sees the video he knows the face-- and yet he doesn't. There's a prolonged pause when Erik's gaze skates from Leto's vivid blue eyes to the strange scaling on his skin. This man looks younger than he expects of the matching voice.

It's with a note of caution that he finally replies, though he can't quite keep the confusion out of his expression.]

The kind that begins with me in unknown places. Who are you?

[... It's a long shot, but after Lace, she's not going to assume anymore.

When Nightingale appears on the screen, she's probably very recognizable, still in the old Takshaka uniform.]

Hi. Sorry if this is a weird question, but does the name 'Epona' mean anything to you?

I am called Leto. Though I know I possess a shocking resemblance to Charles Xavier, we are in no way affiliated with each other.

[ As for games . . . well, he's familiar with the kind of games Erik has been through. They were, after all, similar shades of the ones in Aather. ]

I guess this could be much like the games we played in our respective . . . prisons. But different. Less call for death and mayhem.

I can answer your questions, actually. Though soon you ought to get a little video telling you the ups and downs of this place.

[He hadn't known what to expect when addressing the device, whether anyone out there would answer. Much less whether anyone would know him personally. But of all the names he might have expected to hear, 'Erik' was last on his list. He picks up the communicator to face it.

Searching her face-- no, he doesn't recognise her. Maybe he's lost some memories after all.]

Yes...? [There's an acknowledgement in it, but a question as well.]

[The wall remains in view. But there is a distinct huff of amusement.]

It certainly isn't objecting.

[Other than being an object itself.]

[She switches the feed over to a private one, feeling a little exposed otherwise.]

I'm Kitty. Kitty Pryde. [As if a last name will help him know her. She wouldn't have known him at this age in any world.] I'm [She almost says "an X-Man" but that might be just as hard for him to recognize, or worse, it might be something negative to him. After all, every other X-Man she'd met in the prison and here saw the man as a villain. Well, all but Charles.] a mutant.

I know a future version of you. [Maybe even just his future self. She's never met anyone from her world since leaving it, but it could still happen.]

If I were a wall I might find it a little hard to object.

[Something about the way he phrases it... it reminds her of Nightingale. Erik, meet a strange-looking humanoid teenage-girl with bright orange skin, blue-and-white-striped horns, and white patterns on her face that are very much not tattoos.]

... Have you been somewhere like this before?

[He's taken up the communicator by now, so when she appears, he recognises her immediately. If nothing else, the Takshaka uniform would be a dead giveaway. It only raises further questions.]

Yes, Epona was my team. You're Takshaka, aren't you? [He has to think on the name for a moment, having only spoken to Nightingale a handful of times.] Nightingale?

[A video. It's certainly more efficient, but that only indicates this is a long-time operation. He frowns a bit, but nods.]

While we're waiting, then. Where am I?

[Well now. She's intriguing. But he takes only a moment to skate his gaze over her features before returning to the matter at hand.]

Not like this in particular. But as for places I haven't intended to be...

[Rather more of them than he'd like, at this point.]

[Considering how little they've spoken, the obvious sigh of relief is probably a little weird.]

Oh, thank fuck, it really is you. Blade, right? I've been here a bit over half a year, I've written up a guide explaining everything. I'll send you a link now.

[She has to fiddle with the communicator a bit, but soon, she does in fact send a link to a document.]

[It's incredibly jarring to hear the name, when he'd only just come to the conclusion that it wasn't him. This isn't telepathy, surely. It's something else.]

And what prison would that be?

[He's on his guard. Whoever this Leto is has some degree of familiarity with him, and the implications of that are dangerous. He knows about games, but Erik's certain he would remember seeing someone like this around the library, or Kyriakos.]

Mine was called Aather. We went there to be heroes and regain our memories. A familiar story, I imagine. Though I believe mine was far kinder than yours might have been.

[ Death had a hand in Aather, but it was dealt lightly. There were other punishments, cruel ones, but they certainly did not happen regularly. ]

[His eyebrows raise at "mutant". That, at least, might explain some familiarity. And yet even then, he would still expect most mutants familiar with him to only know Magneto. Only a handful of mutants still living know him by his real name. Well, them and the CIA.

But it's the second part that brings him up short. The future is a time that's never brought him anything but bad news.]

A future version. [Still, even Logan knew his name in the future. Things change.] That's not something I expected, but it's also not the first time it's happened. When in the future?

It could just be feeling a bit flat today.

[Not his best work, but he's under pressure. And not a natural joker. He relents, picking up the communicator and looking at the video feed. So his slight surprise and recognition is evident.]

You're... Henwen, aren't you?

Well. I don't know how much technology has advanced where we're from, but-- do you know what a spaceship is?

[~~Oh you movie characters and your actual dates.~~] Long enough for your hair to go white. [Though she suspects that was not entirely with age. His older son's is white too.] A couple of decades maybe. We were on the same team.

Wait-- a year and a half? That can't be possible.

[He stares at the communicator as the link comes up. Some basic knowledge is fine, but he's still from 1973. Give him a few moments to work this out.]

I'm certain I saw you before I left, and that was only a few weeks ago.

—Oh, shit. So that's what you were implying with the whole "another game" thing.

Yeah. Epona, right? I didn't really want to freak you out more if you didn't remember it.

If it helps, it's not my first time being kidnapped either?

I mean, on the grand scale of things, it could be worse!
