[the young woman in the video awakes with a start, sitting up hurriedly and looking around... before giving a sharp noise of frustration. she doesn't stay in the same area long, instead wandering the halls of the marsiva with a frown. to nobody in particular:]

Honestly, I'm becoming quite tired of this kind of thing. It's terribly rude to do this to a person once, let alone twice, you realize?

[a while later, a video broadcast appears.]

If one departs from this place and then unfortunately reappears, are they typically brought to the same ship they inhabited the previous time?

Well, uh. The Arl of Redcliffe looked after me until I was about ten, when his wife decided she didn't want me around anymore. So then they packed me off to a monastery, and I trained to be a templar. Then the Grey Warden, Duncan came around, and he recruited me for the Wardens.

Then the Blight hit, and - [ his face falls a little. ] All the Wardens died except me and one other, and we had to unite the lands to defeat it. She did most of the work - the other warden that is, and afterwards, they made me king.

Monsters called darkspawn invade the land and kill everything they touch. The Grey Wardens exist to stop it.

That's horrible. Though... Everything they touch? Is there no way to fight against them for anyone but these Grey Warden people?

Well, anyone can fight darkspawn, but Grey Wardens are the only ones immune to the taint, so if you're not, then you're at risk.

I see. What precisely makes them immune?

...stuff. We do stuff. Stuff we're not supposed to talk about, but the important part is, we are immune, and we're the only ones who can kill archdemons. - the creatures who lead the horde.

So you're a bit like a knight, then? You fight monsters.

I mean a knight can be a Grey Warden, but not all Grey Wardens are knights. I'm not a knight.

What's the distinction in your world, then?

Knights are usually soldiers, like the Orlesian chevaliers. Or templars. They owe allegiance to a country, or maybe to the chantry. Wardens only owe allegiance to the wardens, and they can come from anywhere. Some wardens used to be criminals!
