Stefan expected an upset stomach, not this. Kneeling down, he listens for a heartbeat before he performs the Heimlich maneuver. He really should've seen this coming, he really, really should've...]

[ He's doing his best to pretend to be dead, motionless. Making the Force feign an erratic pulse and being still, it's almost too easy. It's all going to plan! That'll get Stefan to loosen up, right. Make him laugh for a few exasperated minutes. Maybe he'll keep it up for a few minute, if he can contain the laugh bubbling out of him--

He recognizes this particular curled hands on his stomach motion.

Anakin immediately springs back to life, laughing as he grabs Stefan's forearms before he can plunge down ]

Whoa, take it easy there, doc!

[No vampire reflexes can save him here. Stefan's face loses its color as he feels that sudden movement and-- Oh. Of course. That worry melts into a quick,] I thought you were gonna die!

[He can't fight back with his forearms like this, so he settles for huffing a little. Okay, huffing a lot.]

I don't know what you just pulled, but you're okay? Really okay?

[ Meanwhile, Anakin is rolling to his side and laughing.

Unbelievable. ]

Oh, you should have seen the look on your face. [ He smirks and props himself up, sighing contently at a successfully executed prank. ] I suppressed my life signs with the Force. A little trick Jedi use when we have to "play dead".

[ He pats-- thumps Stefan's shoulder again. ] Lighten up! It's just gum.

Hysterical. [Stefan's unmoved by that thump - a first, considering how easily he moves at Anakin's touch.] Using the Force over gumballs.

If anything had happened to you on my watch, Skywalker... [He stares down at his hands, now tightly balled into fists, because he's so sure the color's draining from his face (and his eyes too).] Well. I'm glad we're not going down that road.

Wow. If I knew you were going to be that mad about it, I certainly wouldn't have.

[ He sits up properly and his brow furrows deeper even as his hands comes up, calling it truce. ]

Look, I'm okay. Perfect health. Are you okay?

[stefanged]

[He nods, even though his veins are protruding underneath his (black, emotionless) eyes.]

Yeah, yeah. I um - I'll be fine.

[There's a long moment, before he confesses,] I'm sorry, I just - I'm not exactly human, so when I think I've hurt someone, I freak out.

[ There's a moment of pause from him. He's not sure if he saw that correctly but he can sense the whispering undertones, a sudden shift in what makes Stefan him. Anakin frowns and quickly comes up to his knees, his hand stays by his side. ]

I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was going to get that kind of reaction. [ He place a hand on Stefan's arm ] What is it?

Not your fault. I haven't been open about this, and uh - [time for a lame joke attempt] I'm not sure what the Jedi Code would've said about vampires.

[ he doesn't know either. but he offers a small smile, a minimal laugh. ]

I don't really know... what a vampire is, in your world. But the Order has stranger followers. We welcome all.

...I really doubt it matters here, anyway. And it certainly doesn't matter to me.

Um, well... a vampire's a creature that feeds on human blood. [Quickly,] But I don't, I take blood pills in the lab and I drink animal blood when I get the chance.

[ He shrugs, maybe a bit too casually. Then again, he's always valued friendship more than anything. ]

As long as you can control your uh hunger. You aren't a danger to us, are you?
