Nope. That wasn't going to work. She did smile at him, though. "Somehow, I ain't worried 'bout you talkin' to me loudly."

She nodded toward the books. "Go on, have a look-see. Wouldn't wanna distract any."

The tenor of her smile did change slightly at that, perhaps casting aspersions on her veracity, or maybe simply indicating that she was thinking of previous distractions with a certain amount of fondness.

"Worried about the volume of your own voice, perhaps?" he says, smirking. "I do seem to remember that being much more of a concern."

Rogue raised her eyebrows at him and placed one hand on her hip, cocking it to the side. "You're awful cocky for a guy gettin' distracted by what's on the shelf."

She didn't step closer, but she leaned forward just a little more into his space, a small and teasing smile on her face, "Don't see any reason why I've gotta be concerned 'bout my volume."

"Perhaps I just need something a bit more compelling to hove into my line of sight," he said teasingly, then nipped at her nose. "Yet."

Rogue laughed and wrinkled her nose in response to him. Honestly, she almost wanted to keep up this line of conversation, though she knew she was approaching the point where he'd take it as A Challenge and then...

...well, enjoyable as that would be, she didn't really want to feed into making him feel as though he had to prove something.

So instead, she deftly stepped to the side and looped her arm through his, "Then I reckon that means you're done with the non-fiction. Wanna try a different section?"

She tugged slightly by stepping aside while maintaining her hold, as if to lead him.

Well, this wasn't his only opportunity. He could come back in a few days, when there was time to spare, and graze through the section more thoroughly. "All right," he said. "Lady's choice for the next."

He was happy to be led in this case.

And Rogue led him right out the aisle... directly to the Featured Nonfiction Section. "You might wanna take a look at these. Saw 'em last week an' thought of ya."

They were all physics and math books.

Math. Singular. Yes.

Oh, how well his lady knew him. Though there might be a bit of discreet magic that happened almost immediately, with an s getting added to the sign. "Oh, I like this very much."

Grin.

Rogue blinked. Then she stepped forward and swatted at the 'S' to try to see if it would dissipate. She gave him a suspicious look.

Innocent smile in return. "Is something amiss?"

Gosh, Rogue, he fixed it.

She poked the 'S' again. It remained stubborn. She turned to him, amused and playing at huffy, and placed both hands on her hips. "Ya can't just go 'round fixin' everything your own way. Just 'cause ya like pluralizin' words..."

"One must right injustice, yes?" He blinked owlishly at her. So very innocent. "I do my best to help others become more educated." You know, learn lessons like, mouth off to a god, get one of your eyebrows ripped off.

[touchofrogue]

So very innocent. She can't help but burst into a brief giggle. "Did you really just say 'right injustice?'"

Those words sounded really, really strange in his voice. She poked his chest, "Math is not an injustice."

[complicatedliar]

He blinked owlishly at her. "I must have learned it from somewhere. Your good influence, perhaps." Grin. "That is a matter of opinion."

[touchofrogue]

Pfff, "I do not sound like that." Dismissing the 'math' vs 'maths' eternal debate for a moment to focus on the ridiculous thought that she would say 'right injustice.' "What do ya think I do, run around quotin' bad Saturday afternoon specials?"

Poking his chest with a gloved finger.

He caught her finger between his like a pair of scissors. "I don't know what you're talking about unless it's bad weekend sex, and I don't think I've ever heard words of that sort involved."

[touchofrogue]

She raised her eyebrows at him, "Are ya tellin' me I've had bad weekend sex?"

Considering he was still the only one she'd ever slept with, that was a surprising implication, and her smirk was warm and a little challenging.

Eyebrows go up. "I would certainly hope you'd tell me if you had."

[touchofrogue]

"You're the one bringin' it up," she said, tilting her head a little and smiling.

[complicatedliar]

"Merely remarked that's what 'bad saturday afternoon special' sounded like to me. You're the one making up words again." First burger bombs, now this. Oy.

[touchofrogue]

She rolled her eyes at him and slowly began to pull her gloved finger out of his. "That's 'cause almost anythin' sounds like sex to you."

She shook her head and her smirk deepened, "An' I warned ya I'd keep makin' words up. Almost makes me sad that I wasn't doin' it this time."

"'tis a versatile thing," he said, almost primly.

He snorted. "You could claim you had anyway. I wouldn't know."

"What's the fun in that?" She propped her hand on her hip. No point in taking credit for something she didn't actually do.

"Plenty of fun." He would know. He's made a practice of such thing... with anyone but Rogue. He grinned at her.

"Flights of fancy are the best sort."

Rogue took a step closer, her gaze sparking with mischief and something else entirely, "You're only sayin' that 'cause I haven't taken ya flying yet."
