[In light of certain updates from certain hunters, Nami is trying really, really hard not to take her impressive temper out on the person who's effectively her roommate on the Bloodsport. But being angry and trying to convince yourself not to lash out at someone you think may deserve it but might not so let's be nice about it doesn't really help your mood any. Nami doesn't want to lay into Cas. So Nami avoids Cas. Just for a little while. Because she respects their friendship enough not to damage it in a fit of anger, but also because she thinks trying to punch an angel might be bad for her hand. You know.

So Nami is avoiding the Bloodsport. Which isn't that hard when you've somehow found yourself working at both bars on the Iskaulit. She pulls all the extra shifts she can, keeps busy, works her temper off in fits and starts, and devotes some of her extra time to visiting the gardens to see how her mikan saplings are going, and generally explores what the Iskaulit has to offer.

Really, you can find her drinking at a bar, behind a bar, or anywhere else on the ship. Pick your poison.]

[Today she's not working but lurking at the bar anyway, picking away at snacks and going through her comm and trying to find ways to waste time. So. Lucky network, have a bored navigator.]

Paradisa. Adstringendum. Luceti. [Kyriakos, she nearly adds, but nobody's officially given her that one.] They're all fun places, so I hear. Are there others? I'm curious to see if they have anything in common.

[The next question isn't too morbid for her, but she doesn't have an answer for it. While she was supposed to die at home, she never died in the prison or here so she'll skip down to the last one.]

I know I've heard of other places than just those three. Um...Kyriakos was one, I believe.

What's a ninja?

I was in a place called Exsilium. We had to time travel in order to prevent a superpower from destroying all of our worlds. It was not fun.

To save myself a potential headache should a friend of mine return: pirates.

[Sye walks over, a mug of some kind of ale in hand, around the end of Nami's broadcast.]

Both can be good people in the right circumstances. If they're trying to kill me, then pirates. There's a higher chance of them being drunk.

[There's a faint snort of amusement.]

Well, you're the first girl I've met who likes them. [Thanks to Oda's hideously horrendous gender stereotyping.] Any particular reason?

[She'll come back to MarinaNova in a second-- just writing it down on her shortlist now.]

[Thank you, Allen. Now she can add it to her list without feeling like so much of a jerk.]

Good choice! [Such approval.] You've been here a long time, haven't you? At least a year.

Depends on who you ask. I've never met one, and I'm not even sure they exist. [Says the girl who's met Ino. Whoops.] Warriors who fight from the shadows and use all kinds of weird tricks and illusions. My crew seem to think the idea of them is amazing.

[Okay, that's two new ones. But... that's definitely a different purpose than she'd imagine.]

Were you there voluntarily? Or did you just wake up there one day?

[She glances up at the familiar voice and breaks into a grin at that crack.] Well, you're not wrong. The amount of pirates I've seen flat on their face in a bar is kind of hilarious.

[She shoves her bowl of nuts to the side, away from the extra chair at her table. Take a seat.] So you've met ninja? What are they like?

[HE TRIES. And he smiles at the approval. Ninjas are okay but pirates are just rad man]

Yeah, about a year and a half now.

Huh. They sound a little like bards, honestly. Except with magic?

[She will accept that unspoken invitation.]

Quiet, focused, very deadly. I prefer having them on my side than not.

No, I just awoke there. Drafted into a war none of us really wished to be part of. We won, and our reward was to choose what life we wished to lead. Some decided to remain, help rebuild the new world we had created, some chose to go to another world altogether. I chose to go home, but found myself here instead.

[They are totally the best.

She hesitates a moment, but a little more tentatively:]

You don't have to answer if you'd rather not, because I'd understand why. But... has anyone died during that time that you know of? I'm not just asking for fun.

Um...

[A pause as he has to think about it]

...Maybe? There was this one time that sounded like it could've been a death- but I think it was more a close call than anything else. [IT WAS ALL VERY VAGUE]

Why are you asking?

I'm trying to draw correlations. The easiest answer, anyway. In Adstring, people who died would come back again after a few days. I know one of the other places did, too. And the Fleet seems to hold other things in common with those areas, so I wondered...

[She smiles a little.] I promise I'm not thinking of tossing anyone out an airlock.

Ah...yeah. Paradisa would bring a person back after two weeks.

I didn't think you were! It's possible people come back here, but we won't know for sure until it happens. [...] Though...I'll keep hoping our luck holds and we won't have to find out.

I guess so. I wonder if there are musical ninja. [Though musicians in her world are pretty uh... out there and blatant.] Are bards really that subtle?

Seems common sense to me. I've never met one, but there's stories of them. And where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

[She takes a sip of her drink.]

How're things on the Red Fish?

[She wants to ask how Cas is doing. The other one. The one that isn't about to do anything stupid in the near future.]

You too, huh. [That whole last part is awfully familiar to Adstring. Just... different circumstances leading up to it.]

I'm sorry. That sucks. [She's adding Exsilium to her list, though. There's too many of these places.] It's interesting how the Fleet picks up a few people right at the end of their stay in another terrarium.

[Like they're paying attention.]

Hm. I had assumed I had earned my right home. It was frustrating, having Atroma rip that out of my hands.

For a while, I assumed that Atroma were the United Earth; they were the superpower we were battling. I still would not be surprised if that turned out to be the case. They have very similar tactics, even if the end result is keeping us here, rather than openly destroying worlds.

[Oh, most of this is too much to even think about! Those names are all so unfamiliar... and then of course the question of death is just too much to consider. So she elects to be more lighthearted, albeit awkwardly.]

[She laughs softly at that, not much humour, but she appreciates the thought.] Yeah, I'd rather we never had to test that theory.

So Paradisa too, huh? Did people also go home and find no time had passed there?

Used to have a ninja roommate. [Some of her training employs similar martial arts too, but it's such a mixed style. Itachi is the better reason.]
