[When Leia appears onscreen, she's fully dressed, with her hair neatly braided and pinned up. However, she's very clearly sitting up in a bed, her body held more rigidly than usual. She has her game princess face on, the time to speak to the people face, but it's a little tight-looking around the edges.]

Attached to this message is the summary of a report on experiments recently performed on an augment. The full report may take some time for me to write, for reasons beyond my control. [The stab wounds. She means the stab wounds she's recovering from.] However, I hope this overview will be of use to anyone currently investigating the augments.

If you're thinking of trying to remove yours, the best advice I can give you is this: Don't.

[Just like last time, the attached text file is an executive summary. This time, however, it's about that time they tried to remove Wolverine's augment.]

It is highly recommended that captives of the Fleet do not attempt augment removal. This report is intended to provide conclusive evidence that reaching the augment within a subject's body will not result in disruption or disabling of augment functions. [Kitty had reviewed the report before Leia completed it. There was some minor back and forth, but they haven't really talked since the experiment. Not that it felt like an experiment to her that day. She was very ready for it to simply be the day they removed or destroyed the implants. Instead, it was the day Leia got stabbed. Kitty doesn't feel great about that and puts a lot of the weight of it at her own feet.]

How are you feeling?

[Leia knew what she was getting into when she decided to join them on this adventure. She has no one to blame but herself, as far as she's concerned; Kitty isn't at fault for the fact that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.]

Better than I was. This place has a way of making you miss bacta tanks, though. [The recovery's faster, even if Luke's right that bacta tastes awful.] How about you?

[Leia looks at Beverly with some surprise--she doesn't exactly think of Dr. Crusher as the sort of woman to end up in a scuffle.]

Attempting to remove an augment required cutting through flesh. [But by Logan's standards, it was a scratch.] Besides that, there were some unexpected injuries. Why do you ask?

If a subject has other triggerable responses already present, trying to disable the augment might trigger those instead. It probably isn't especially common.

It is. I think we got about as close as we can to destroying it, and nothing happened.

Better than I was a week ago. [She's not sure just how much detail she ought to go into on the network, if only because it seems liable to deplete Logan's privacy.] We had a slight mishap, but I'm recovering.

I'm sorry you got hurt. But this is good to know. [Blech. She wonders if what she'd intended with Luffy would have any better luck, but she doubts it, and it's a moot point anyway.]

You'll put up a full report when you're healthier?

[Jaina comes to visit Leia almost as soon as she hears the news. The delay is mostly because she had to try figuring out what to do. If there is anything she can do. She's not a healer, like Cilghal, and she doesn't really have any nice personal gifts she can cobble together at the moment to try making things at least feel better. Her family deals with injuries, so the main issue is not feeling like she can do anything.

She lets herself in, concern clear in her expression.]

Are you feeling up for some company?

[At that point, Leia's more interested in sleeping than anything else, but at the sight of Jaina slipping into her bunk, she summons up a tired smile and nods. She's not sure just what this must be like for her daughter--who knows what expectations she has regarding bodily injury at this point? her family is full of people who have the habit of getting into messes--but if Jaina's worried or...anything else...she wants to be able to do something about it.

Someone has to keep an eye on this kid, and even if she's not Leia's daughter yet, Leia's decided it's going to be her. She's gotten attached.]

A worthwhile experiment, though perhaps not one that most will be glad to hear the results for.

I wonder - has anyone learned the reason behind what augment is given to each passenger?

Thank you. We've needed to be able to point to specific occurrences when new members of the Fleet ask why they can't just rip the augment out. I hope this will fill that gap.

The augments contain the information necessary to do the job you were assigned. They also act as a sort of leash to the Marsiva; get too far away, and you'll be teleported back to the Fleet. Beyond those functions, I couldn't tell you.

[ Padme makes her way to the Bishop the moment she can. She's been told that Leia was injured, but not how nor to what extent. Clearly it's bad enough that Leia is bedridden.

(Her thoughts drift to Bail for a moment, how upset he would be. She hasn't thought of Leia as Bail's daughter until now, not really.)

Padme knocks lightly on Leia's door, hopefully quietly enough that she won't wake Leia if she's asleep. ]

[Since she was brought back to the Bishop, Leia's been drowsing through the hours, alternating between sleep and pain. She's dressed in a nightshift loose enough to cover the bandages wrapped around her middle, and the dried blood has been scrubbed from her hands. Her hair is falling out of its crown of braids, but she's too tired to unpin it and brush it out--or sit up straight while someone else does, for that matter.

Her voice is small and tired but certain when she hears a rap at the door.]

[Luke has been a fixture of the Bishop since Leia's been injured. He doesn't sleep there, but it's a near thing. Today, he's bringing her a mug of hot chocolate from the Blameless.]

[Here, try this isn't an entirely trustworthy way to begin anything, but from Luke, she's willing to take the plunge. And her trust is rewarded.]

This is great. [Leia looks down at the drink, breathing in the sweet steam rising from it.] What is it?

[It's kind of sweet of her, when it comes down to it.]

Getting back to normal--slowly. [There's a little smile in her voice.] How about you?

[ No matter how their last interaction went, there was no way Obi-Wan would not have visited to check on Bail's daughter - Anakin's daughter. He had sensed something - a cry that echoed through the Force until it went quiet. It was foreboding.

He knocks on her door quietly. He wonders if she'll let him in. Nevertheless, the attempt must be made. ]

[Leia's expecting visitors--she suspects she'd have to be a little thick-headed to assume no one would be coming to her door after she nearly got herself killed. She's ready, in a weary sort of way, for whatever conversations she might have coming from her friends and family.]

[ han has been hanging out at her bedside the whole time, for the most part -- and while he's reading through her report, he speaks dryly: ]

[There's a slight sing-song quality to her voice. This isn't a new conversation by any means.]

Still, a short time after he sees the message and infers her injury, he'll be over to visit with a potted plant that has small white flowers, because flowers are in fact an excellent idea.]

[She's staring at a holonovel and telling herself to take in the words already when the door opens and one of her old shipmates appears. He'll be a much better distraction than this insipid book.]

What sort of injuries were 'incurred'?

( And which one of the two ended up hurt? Were the injuries from the blunt force or from the augment? )

There were a few. Touching the augment caused one member of our group to black out. Another was stabbed, and a third was shot. [WHICH SOUNDS BAD, BUT] It was nothing we couldn't handle. Nothing we didn't handle.

[He was sure that it had been circulated that tampering with the augments was a fool's errand, but clearly he should never had doubted human tenacity. Perhaps, a few years ago, he might have been complicit in this kind of attempt.

But...he finds himself combing through this and reading through the text in mild horror.]

You are telling me, that when surgically removing the augment proved impossible...[Which, on it's own, makes him shudder]...you simply tried to hit it? Are you insane?

[Sorry, Felix, her patience (for which she's decidedly not known) has worn thin by this point. She rolls her eyes.]

Of course not. We started with a different procedure and moved on to cutting it out.
