[As is common with new arrivals, there are a few very confused moments of waking up and scrambling around before the Fleet's newest arrival manages to find and switch off the nearest camera.

About half an hour later and significantly less panicked-looking, he switches it back on. Some quality time spent with his augment answered the pressing questions, like where am I and why aren't there any weapons here, and that he's not going to get an answer to are my friends okay without a little further input from him. So. If they're here, he reasons, they'll recognize him.]

Shouldn't there be more people here? Or do I get to be the only lucky winner this week?

The name's Finn. There are people on the other ships out there, right?

Hey Finn! I'm Ahsoka. The ship you're on is always like that. But I'm guessing you've figured that out by now.

You're handling all this pretty well. Been in space before?

[A few months ago she wouldn't have thought that an obvious question to ask. But now, being surrounded by a large majority of people from non-space-faring worlds, it's the first thing she thinks of to wonder.]

On and off most of my life, yeah. There's really people here who haven't?

[Even Rey knew her way aorund spaceships and she'd almost always been on Jakku.]

[Oh thank god. You're normal.]

There totally are! Most people, even! I'm not even talking about people who can't afford interplanetary travel. I'm talking about-- about dozens of people from pre-spaceflight civilizations! [Ahsoka shakes her head in disbelief.] It's super weird.

[He makes a face. Skywalker's mentor from the Clone Wars is one thing, but pre-spaceflight? Why did Atroma even choose them?]

And some of them are running the ships? Does the augment really do that?

[resnipstance]

It doesn't make people automatic geniuses in their field, if that's what you're wondering. From what I've heard and observed, it's more like... having an extremely specific search engine plugged into your brain.

So for example, someone who's never piloted a ship before still won't know how to do it immediately, but when they sit down at the control panel, if they think "What do I do first?" the augment will supply the answer. Of course, they still have to practice to become any good.

[Finn nods at the explanation, pondering it. He'd still be more comfortable having someone like Poe or Finn at the helm, but if he has to deal with a pilot from some backwards culture, he'll try not to panic too hard.]

Right. So it's good to let them practice when we're out in deep space like this.

Pretty much. I haven't heard anything about political instability in this sector, so it seems like we're not under much risk of being attacked either.

It's a bit weird, but once you get used to the idea that this isn't home, it's easier to adjust.

Good. I had enough of that back home. [That's a relief to hear. Not that he's going to let up on training or preparedness, but not having to be constantly be on high alert is great.]

Are we sure it's not just a remote sector? Are we in a whole other galaxy?

That's right. There are all kinds of people here from galaxies not our own! We're probably not even from the same one.

[Not sure if fascinated or terrified.]

[Ahsoka gives him a sheepish kind of shrug.]

Beats me. All I know is that it does.

[Finn shakes his head, not really believing it. The galaxy is so big - why would they need to take people from more than one? And how did they travel here?]

So we just gotta roll with it, huh? Guess it could be worse.

[resnipstance]

It could definitely be worse. [She chuckles.] The biggest danger here is dying of boredom.

[forcesensitive]

I can deal with boredom. [Being a Stormtrooper taught him that much, anyway.] There's always more training to do. Maybe someone can teach me how to use a lightsaber so I last more than half a minute in a fight next time.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka perks up visibly at the mention of lightsabers.]

Wait-- you know what a lightsaber is?

Yeah, a Jedi's weapon. [He adds quickly:] I'm not a Jedi, but twice now I got caught with only a lightsaber, no blasters. I got a feeling it's probably going to happen again.

[So they are from the same universe then.]

What were you doing with only a lightsaber if you aren't a Jedi?

[Her tone isn't accusatory, only curious.]

I'm---I was holding on to it for someone else, and I kept losing my blaster.

[And blasters aren't exactly good against someone like Kylo Ren.]

[resnipstance]

Oh! Well, that's fair enough.

Do you mind if I ask you a weird question? [Then, without waiting:] What year is it where you're from? Out of curiosity.

[forcesensitive]

Sure. Thirty-four years after the Battle of Yavin. [Gotta love the numbering scheme.]

[resnipstance]

[Fortunately for Ahsoka, she's had time enough to speak with the OT kids and Jaina to get familiar with the calendar change in her future. Ahsoka does a quick mental calculation, then her eyes widen.]

So that's-- whoa.

I'd be like... super old...

[forcesensitive]

[All right, but that gets a grin.] Gray hair and wrinkles. Don't tell anyone else, but I've seen some of them like that.

[resnipstance]

[Grinning also:]

You know togruta don't have hair, right?

Well, the humans do, anyway. It's kinda weird that everyone else is from ancient history.

[Super ancient, like before he was even born.]
